Effective personal training & Fitness classes without the intimidating gym or trendy studio environment. Our 6 unique phases were created by combining all 4 strength modalities - strength, hypertrophy, power and endurance. Each phase rotates on a weekly basis, making our workouts extremely diverse and the perfect tool to keep you progressing.

All programs include: a complete fitness assessment to evaluate your strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and biomechanics; a nutrition assessment and guidance; continued support from your trainer to help you reach your goals. We offer custom personal training programs designed to get you noticeable, lasting results.
Services
Students improve strength by using higher resistance, multi-joint movements, leading to an increase in lean muscle mass and stronger bones. Expect heavy weights, low reps, and slower movements. Students improve hypertrophy, sometimes referred to as toning, by performing high tension movements to produce a burning sensation.
For years, I was doing my same gym workouts, rotating between machines and weights where I wasn't seeing a difference. Not good or bad. Next Phase was convenient to my apartment and though I wasn't a fan of group fitness, my boyfriend and I gave it a shot - quickly realizing it was on of the hardest workout we've ever done.
Emotional and/or behavioral tendencies (eating disorders, picky eating, body acceptance, etc.) Bobby holds two separate nutrition certifications with focuses in sports and exercise nutrition as well as weight loss. Having an extensive background in the fitness industry, he applies his knowledge of human physiology and behavior change to nutrition, helping people efficiently achieve their goals through clear and personal guidance.

Next Phase is the hidden secret of HIIT gyms in the DC area. As someone who has tried her lion's share of different gyms and workouts - CorePower Yoga, Solidcore, Orange Theory, Down Dog Yoga, Balance Gym, Vida Fitness, Barre, Soul Cycle, etc. - I can honestly say that Next Phase provides the best workout out there. I have started taken classes here the past few months because they offer outdoor classes, which is important to me during the COVID-19 pandemic. The good:
- all the classes I've taken are EXCELLENT. The trainers are organized, prepared, know their stuff, are motivating, provide options and encouragement. The classes are challenging but attainable. I never feel 'shamed' for taking an option or not being as athletic as some of the other members.
-it's easy to schedule classes online, and many classes are offered.

This may be the first time I'm doing this but @nextphasestudios is definitely a fitness studio that needs major improvements. I would consider it a smaller version of F45 with circuit training but I was not impressed with any of the amenities or services. A friend and I tried their one free class by signing up online. The website looked legitimate and professional but when we came to the session we were highly disappointed. The trainer did not seem prepared at all and when we went back to check the website for trainer descriptions, their name was not on the verified list. Another issue was

The classes here are challenging, fun, and dynamic! They're circuit style so you keep switching up your exercise which makes it engaging.

Birin is a great instructor - very attentive. His class is deceptive cause it doesn't feel too hard but you're definitely sore the next day. His music was also awesome! Classes are relatively small which gives you plenty of space but they still end up being high energy. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Next phase is the best!! The instructors are amazing and friendly and make the experience feel like a community. They are so personal and will help you fix your form during the classes (which I love). They offer signature circuits which are high intensity but also offer other classes that are more focused and less "jumpy" like TRX. can not recommend this place enough to my friends!

Attended the HIIT class - instructor was great, workout was a good mix of different equipment and exercises. This place offers challenging workouts and a great team of instructors. Definitely recommend that you at least give it a shot.

Look, honestly I think half of the problem of the one class I took was me just not doing my research but heres the review.

Came here through class pass for a Abs-Butt-Arms and was excited for some high intensity work. When you walk in there isn't a sign in process, you just tell your name to the person sitting at the front. From the lobby area you don't really get a gym or boutiquey gym vibe, it feels like a waiting room of a business you are about to go interview at. When you come in, it's not clear at all what equipment you have to get and they really don't tell you anything

Loved the TRX class I did here! Kim was friendly and encouraging, and the class was definitely challenging (I'm still sore 3 days later!) She incorporated the right amount of cardio, TRX, and cool down. She also gave feedback on adjustments to make the workout easier or harder!

The studio itself is pretty simple. It's an open space with some jump ropes, a few reformers, TRX straps, kettlebells, medicine balls, and weights. I would recommend trying the studio out and taking a class with Kim!

{Parking}: street parking nearby, around $2 an hour.

I've been coming to Next Phase for a few months now, and I cannot speak more highly about the gym and the staff. The instructors make every single person in their classes feel welcome and make an effort to learn everyone's names to make it feel more like a community. They also are good at what they do and definitely practice what they preach - every single instructor is totally ripped and serves as an inspiration for the students in the class. They also do a great job of providing feedback on form to make sure nobody injures themselves, and always offer modifications for people with injuries

Taken only one class so far, but loved it. Great team style atmosphere, clean, & bright. Instructor (Kevin) was engaging & fun, but challenging. He paid attention and was able to give correction or guidance when needed. I am looking forward to returning to this studio.

UPDATE:

I recently took a couple more classes here and have made several improvements.

They now have a water cooler (with very cold water I might add) with cups too in case you forget your bottle.

I took a hard core and trx circuit class with Emily and they were both excellent and left me insanely sore the next day. Both classes were small, so Emily was able to walk around and make sure everyone was doing the exercises correctly. (Which she did a fantastic job of)

They also have a great mic system now! I was able to very clearly understand Emily without straining, and it was really easily

I have been very impressed. I am slow to start using new studios regularly but I have really enjoyed their HIIT Pilates class. Both instructors I've had have been great and motivating. It's a perfect mix of cardio and strength/lengthening. I'll definitely keep going!

Best studio in the District and NOVA! I had been doing Class Pass for a while and had my favorite studios and gyms but as soon as I found Next Phase I was hooked. Sonja, the owner, is SO nice and welcoming and has serious body goals. She is an expert in what she does. Next Phase is unique in that it is not "just" a Pilates studio. There are the more classic reformer classes which are still the best I've ever taken. But there are also classes that incorporate cardio with either the reformer or TRX which give you some serious calorie burn as well as strengthening. I was getting in

This is legit the best gym in D.C. I came across next phase on classpass and was hesitant to try a new gym- but i was shocked at how incredible this gym is. I had a private session with the owner and as someone who has taken every class in the book, next phase was the type of gym I'd pay for in any city I'm in. HIGHLY suggested.

I attended Barre Bootcamp on a Thursday evening. It was my first time at the studio so I arrived a little early. There was no one at the front desk when I arrived which was strange. Someone came out shortly after I was there to assist with the check in. I was here through Class Pass and easily booked. I enjoyed the class! Was sore the next 2 days. I will definitely be back but would appreciate some more organization! The check in process was a bit disheveled and I didn't get really much information about the class or studio.. although I did say it was my first time. Overall I liked!

I've tried the reformer fusion and HIIT Pilates which incorporates pilates reformer with HIIT style work outs with bosu, kettle bells, and TRX. I love the reformer so this is a great studio for me. There is only five reformers which offers a great smaller class setting. Sonja is a very welcoming, friendly, and encouraging instructor. She is clear on her instructions and will demonstrate any moves if you're ever confused about anything. I would highly recommend her classes and I always leave feeling positive and sweaty. I used to go to the Bethesda Next Phase and loved it there. I just started going to the Next Phase Arlington and so far its been great! I have been taking classes with Emily and I have got to say they are really great classes! I am getting a full-body workout when I am there and love that she balances out the workouts. She changes up the exercises and its fun! What I have always loved about the Bethesda location is the instructors connecting with the students and the new Arlington location definitely does that. It is nice to hear an instructor call out your name with encouragement!

I have been going to Next Phase in Bethesda for years and moved to Arlington and was thrilled that Andy had opened another gym. The place is friendly and the instructors are great. Classes are intimate and are fantastic for all levels. I've taken 4 classes there this week and loved them all. However, can't say enough about Abe's Hard Core class. This class will push you to your limits no matter what level you're at. If you're just beginning don't be discouraged- if I took this class three times a week I wouldn't need to do anymore! He's great and so is this
