My Times Square New years stay at Mela was horrifying and mostly terrible in everything I and my wife experienced. Dirty carpets and stinking bathroom. The carpet had cigarette burns and toilet was stinky and had stain all over. Save yourself a hassle of experiencing the experience of money paid, not worth it. Please don't book Mela.

You might be deceived by the websites pictures or the marble lobby, but it’s hard to say if hotel mela is even 2 stars. Although the staffs hearts were large, the hotel was not. There is no way the elevator is handicap accessible, and if you were overweight you would have to go in sideways. On the 6th floor it reeked of weed and somebody cooking which was odd because there was no microwave or an ice machine. Room? no. Shoebox? yes. By far worlds smallest hotel room. Me and my mother requested a Queen bed and instead got about a full, which wouldn’t have really made a difference except for the

This hotel is nothing short of appalling. We booked through Booking.com who could not have cared less about the fact that I was there with two young children on my own and we were given a room with dirty sheets, bogeys on the pillows, holes in the wall, torn carpets, peeling wallpaper and dirty curtains that looked out onto a brick wall. We slept in our clothes that night and found new accomodation the next day but have been left out of pocket for this dreadful hotel.

We were looking forward to our stay at Hotel Mela for my wife’s birthday. We booked almost a year in advance and got a great rate through a booking site. We had reservations for 12/9-12/13 2021. On 12/6/21, hotel Mela CANCELLED our reservation. In addition, in the days leading up to our vacation, I had a question and tried to call. The phone was never answered. They left us scrambling for accommodations which, due to the last minute timing, cost us a small fortune. DO NOT TRUST HOTEL MELA!!!

This hotel is disgusting. The rooms are tiny, which is understanding considering the location. When I walked into our room, I thought it hadn’t been cleaned yet, but to my surprise THAT was their “clean”. The bathroom had hair all over it, the walls had random yellow staining which looked like urine. The floors were dirty and so were the doors. The bed was made up with one deflated pillow only and you had to ask for more. You basically get a sheet on the bed and one more to cover yourself with. No mattress cover, fitted sheet, or a comforter. Don’t stay here for your own health…

Hotel confirmed our booking months ago on air B and B. 3 weeks before stay they have cancelled our booking, apparently they do not have rooms available anymore. Absolutely outrageous as I have seen on booking.com that they have 2 rooms available at the time of our stay. They are just trying to get more money from people. I would recommend that you avoid this business at all costs. We are now in limbo, without a stay in 3 weeks time!

I have stayed at this hotel twice for the past 2 months. For at least 18 nights total.
Location is everything for this hotel.
Otherwise the rooms are small, but hey, this is New York City.
It definitely needs some renovations, because last time it was raining and the ceiling above window area was all dripping.
The biggest issue I have here is the lady working on the reception. Dark haired one, don’t know the name, but you will see her for sure.
Both times she had massive attitude.
First time, I was like, ok maybe I am overreacting, but now I know its not me.
She is trying to be professional

This hotel is dirty. Do not stay here. There was hair in the bed and shower. The garbage can had stains that looked like blood. The carpet and walls looked like they had never been washed. This is not the clean hotel that people are sayings. On top of it all, there was graffiti on our walls. We couldn’t stay the night because it was so disgusting, and booked another hotel. I hope this post can save someone from going through what we went though.

The lobby was pretty but good lord the rooms need some work. There wasn’t a real mattress cover, it was just another blanket covering it, room smelled of cigarettes, markings everywhere on the wall, and the bathroom was not cleaned as there was hair still in the shower. Neither me or my boyfriend have black hair.
At least clean the rooms before your guests arrived. I had a superior king too so I expected more after paying almost double for the same size room as a standard, just with a big bed.

I'll start with how I couldn't contact someone by phone. I was calling to find out if I could check in early but this hotel is NOT accepting calls from paying customers. I showed up hoping to either check in early or at least have my bags held while I passed the time. The front desk person checked me in, took my money and only then told me I wasn't able to check in early and I couldn't leave my bags because of COVID. I've been staying at hotels the entire pandemic and this is the first hotel that doesn't hold bags. And at least their website should say so or maybe

Love the Mela Hotel! I've stayed at other hotels in NYC and my last 3 visits I've stayed at the Mela. the price is good, rooms are clean and they are so quiet. I never hear my neighbors which is the main reason I stay here. I also love that the have a real door to the bathroom. Many hotels in NYC have thin sliding doors. I am always happy staying at The Mela. I will be staying here on my next trip.

Great service in a hotel which is in the heart of Manhattan. Exeactely as described. Quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. Excelent restaurant next door for a good breakfast and if you want tot all other meals as well. Lot’s of theaters in walking distence from the hotel. Recommend it whole heartedly.

***NEWS FLASH*** To all the negative reviews about this hotel having small rooms, being old and dirty, etc...
It's New York City for crying out loud. To get a hotel room for this price, 2 minutes walking to the heart of Time Square, is RARE in itself. We stayed here 4 nights this month and I am so happy I ignored the BS reviews and just booked it. If I am being honest I almost didn't based off the other reviews. Every hotel in Time Square was built decades ago. Yes the rooms will be small and yes they won't be super modern. Who cares? Are you coming to New York to hangout in your

Stayed here for three nights and I was really happy with my experience! I was a bit worried about staying here, seeing as there are a good handful of not-so-great reviews down below, but I was glad my experience here was better than those.
The staff here is very friendly and accommodating. My boyfriend and I arrived early Sunday morning and our room wasn't ready yet, but they quickly took our bags and stored it in a secured room in the back so that we could explore the city without lugging them around! They also did this for us when we checked out, since our flight wasn't leaving until

A cozy little boutique hotel with good rooms, fine service and great price. The location is absolutely amazing. It is right in the heart of times Square area. You always feel you are in the middle of all action with so many shops, restaurants, tourist attractions and theater district around you. You can frequent between places of interest and your room without wasting any time. They have a gym onsite which is a bonus. The elevators are little cramped though but that's expected in Manhattan where every inch comes at a premium. To summarize, Hotel Mela Times Square gives you a feeling of living

Stayed here for two nights to celebrate wedding anniversary exploring NYC's food scene on Oct. 13-15.
Pros- half a block off Time Square, close to lots of shopping and restaurants. Theater District was a few blocks away, walkable in flats but uber or cab it if you've got super sexy heels on.
Clean hotel, room is updated and modern. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Main door locks after 10pm, room key required to get in the building, means no random drunk people hanging out in the lobby. There were plenty out on the street for sure so extra step to ensure guest safety is
