If you're looking for a perfectly located spot, with great ambience and high-quality, mouth watering selections packed with fresh ingredients- then look no further. Luna Red has got you covered. The customer service was fantastic. We found the menu to be a bit eclectic, but we settled on the warm goat cheese appetizer, chorizo paella and King salmon tacos (main dish) and the delicious crema catalana for dessert!

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Luna Red! The service was amazing, we were quickly seated (we had a reservation), and our server was super kind, energetic and attentive.
The food was delicious! We had the strawberry caprese to start and the seafood paella with black squid ink rice for the main. The caprese was the perfect balance of sweet, savory and tangy. A great opening for the paella. The paella was AMAZING! Each piece of seafood was cooked to perfection and the flavors was immaculate.
Good drinks were also a bonus!
We would definitely dine here again :)

This is a busy restaurant, so plan in advance if you'd like to stop by. It's really popular for the ambience and tapas, and notably the large paella portions as well. I almost always come specifically for happy hour (which has changed around due to Covid) and get small plates. My favorite are the bacon wrapped dates, I always get the goat cheese add on its very worth it. I also enjoy their wide selections of tacos as you can never really go wrong there.

Such a great place for lunch! The outdoor seating was comfortable, even in the cold. Lovely architecture in the restaurant, and plenty of nature right nearby. Good views of the Mission next door.
We got a light lunch of wine, goat cheese and bread, and the Mediterranean style charcuterie board. Everything was absolutely delicious. The goat cheese dip is especially good, and you'll want seconds.

Don't mind my messy partially eaten meal here. I realized after I started eating it it was good enough to put a nice review up. Super flavorful and the veggies were cooked perfectly. I ate every bite.
Loved the beautiful outdoor space but the chairs could be a little more comfortable.
Our waitress was very kind and cordial and the manager was accommodating checking in with our table once I let them know about my food allergy. He was very friendly and also checked in a second time after the meal was served.

We stopped by this place for a late lunch. We were really excited to try the paella. The place was not packed and we were seated immediately. We were informed that the paella would take 20 minutes to make so you know they make it super fresh. However, when we actually got the dish it was kind of underwhelming. Unfortunately, the paella was ok. It was on the bland side with not much flavor. The paella was not hot as if it was sitting out for a while. We probably will not be back.

We sat outside in the beautiful mid Nov SLO weather surrounded by red umbrellas and exotic greenery making the experience magical even without considering the food. From where I sat, I spotted an evergreen Loquat tree with budding flowers, and next to it a tree with spiky trunk and branches and blooming large pink flowers throughout.
Warm goat cheese and pesto with toasted bread - we love cheese so cannot go wrong with this one
Bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese on the side - this was like wolf turds but better.
Rockfish tacos with hot piri piri sauce and salsa - piri piri is small Spanish

I was really looking forward to trying Luna Red, but we were a little disappointed… the restaurant has a beautiful patio which was great and the waitstaff was attentive. However, the three varieties of craft tacos we had for dinner were really lacking in flavor and the rock fish tasted fishy. I didn’t finish my meal and I’m really not a picky eater- I think it may have just been an off night because I do hear good reviews of this place. We were sad to leave disappointed after spending a lot of money for our date night and just not enjoying the experience.

I came here for taco Tuesday and let me tell you, the tacos were AMAZING. I can with a big group of friends so we got to try a bit of everything. My favorite was the fish taco, suppperrr delicious and flavorful. I also got the beef taco and it was literally dripping in juice. The salsas were great too but warning the hot one is HOT.
Wasn't a huge fan of the drink as I couldn't really taste the fruity flavors at all. I also got the tiramisu gelato and it had no coffee flavor either. So I took a star off for those but I overall for the tacos it's superb. A little on the pricier side

Sweet little paella spot in town. Only grown up spot open later in the evening on a Sunday that we could find. Cute and romantic in a kitschy way with checkered tablecloth and heat lamps and plastic red chairs.
Good paella but unfortunately no real socarrat and undercooked veggies - but that worked just fine as a backdrop against the seafood, which was nice, we added veggies to our seafood order. lovely saffron fragrance.
Waitress was a gem
wine was not great.
Overall totally adorable and if we were locals we'd be regulars, perfect or no. Worth a visit.

We enjoyed the service and food. We were looking forward to enjoying a Spanish paella. We ordered the Valencia Paella (seafood) and several appetizers, including bacon-wrapped dates, ricotta & berries, and spicy grilled shrimp. All dishes were well-prepared and promptly served. The outdoor atmosphere was lovely and it allowed for the enjoyment of temperate climate. Thank you for the experience.

Luna Red is one of my favorite spots in SLO! From the ambiance to the location (right next to the Mission) to the food/drinks, they've got it all figured out. Our party of 4 came during happy hour on a holiday weekend but were still able to be seated immediately - they have a lot of dining tables both indoor and out.
Since we'd just come for happy hour this time, we didn't order too much but did take advantage of their discounted tacos. Instead of $35 for 10 tacos, you pay $25 which is a great deal. We ordered a combination of their rockfish, eggplant (1 of their 2 vegetarian options

Our group of 4 came around 6:30pm on Saturday and were seated immediately in the outside patio area. Fair warning though, it did get pretty busy and there was a wait by the time we left!
We started out with the crispy Brussel sprouts and sangria pitcher. The sangria was fantastic, perfect balance of flavors and perfect amount for the 4 of us to have 1 drink each! The Brussel sprouts are a must! So crispy and flakey and perfectly seasoned. 10/10!
For my main, my friend and I split a veggie paella and wow we were impressed! The rice is so crispy and flavorful and the charred veggies were amazing

Hot up Luna's for some brunch on a Sunday. The location next to the mission is spectacular if you sit outside. Also there with a guitar singing some pretty cool laid-back songs on Sunday. Took my daughter and she loved her food. I love my food as well they had a huge drink selection. I got the breakfast nachos with don't sound very good if you're thinking about traditional nachos . But these breakfast nachos were spectacular. I think they're called taquillas but don't quote me on that. the only reason I gave him four stars is because I've been there twice and on one of the days it took them a long
