Sandy was born in China and moved to the United States at age 9. After working in a dental office during high school, she realized her interest in dentistry. Sandy began her dental career over 20 years ago as a registered dental assistant. Her current role now is the office manager. She enjoys helping and interacting with patients.
Sandy has been a central part of the team of Dr. Burg and Dr. Koida's practice since 2004. It's important to her that each of you experience that same feeling of ease and confidence in our office. Services
Dr. Lindsey Koida received her DDS degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 2006 and completed her residency in General Dentistry at UOP, bringing her back to the Bay Area. She completed her undergraduate schooling at UC San Diego, graduating with both a BS in Biology and a BA in Psychology. Dr. Koida has been practicing dentistry since 2006, and has been working in Rockridge alongside Dr. Burg since 2007.

The folks at Dr. Koida's office are AMAZING! The whole staff seem to genuinely enjoy their work, and each other. I hadn't needed any semi-serious dental work in years, and found that from start to finish, everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming, clearly explaining everything they needed to do, and answering any questions I had. They remember you, too! This office is particularly good at working with dental anxiety, and they will make you comfortable in every way possible. Unfortunately, I didn't have a positive experience here. My husband and I were told that we needed treatments that our new dentist said were completely unnecessary. Dr Koida told my husband that he needed 9 fillings, while our new dentist said that he only needed 2. I was told by Dr Koida that I couldn't get a regular dental cleaning, and instead needed a deep clean. I decided to see another dentist for a second opinion, who found Dr Koida's refusal to let me get a regular cleaning and her recommendation for a deep clean "shocking". Dr. Koida and her staff are amazing! They are well organized, courteous and caring. I was impressed and comfortable with the precautionary measures being taken during these challenging times. I had a very comfortable dental cleaning and thorough exam with a detailed explanation of my needs. The front desk did a great job helping me with insurance benefits and scheduling. And after my first filling there, I continue to be pleased. Dr. Koida and staff had a wonderful chairside disposition, and her work had a gentle touch. A long overdue visit to the dentist after having relocated to the area was painless & pleasant, thanks to Dr. Jennifer Chen and the wonderful staff at Rockridge Dental Studio on a Saturday. These professionals work hard to make you feel comfortable during your visit. They are very patient, answer questions and concerns thoughtfully and practice very thorough COVID protocol. I have been going to see Dr. Koida for years now and when for a hot moment I thought that I would have to change dentists, I quickly scrambled to come back to this office. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is so kind, thoughtful, and professional. And Dr. Koida is not aggressive in her treatments and is willing to work carefully with you to determine what you're comfortable with and what you need. If you're in need of a new dentist--because you moved here, haven't had a dentist in a while, or just need a new face--then this is the office to go to.

I’ve been going to Dr. Koida for a few years now and her office is amazing! Everyone there is so friendly and professional. They do a great job of explaining your plan of care and making sure you look/feel your best. I’m pretty sensitive to dental work and they always ensure I’m comfortable. Would highly recommend.

I honestly recommend this dental office as the staff here are attentive and the dentist/ dental hygienist goes throughly over the work they're doing--and any problems or suggestions they may have. Getting my teeth cleanings here has been quite different than in previous places as I feel other places were just doing a poor job. Quality provided here is high! I don't think I'll go to any other place unless moving out of the Bay Area is in future plans . The only downside I believe is that my insurance doesn't directly pay them since they are considered to be out of network

I've been seeing Dr.Koida for years (I started seeing Dr.Burg 1st, over 20 years ago, but he cut his office hours, so I started seeing her). Dr.Koida is warm, friendly, and really good at explaining what is going on with your dental health. The office staff is always friendly and professional and they'll even give you a cup of coffee while you're waiting if you ask. Parking is relatively easy (free street parking/residential neighborhood). They used to take Delta Dental insurance, but now they offer their own "in house" health plan. Best dentist's office! I've been a patient for years and would never consider going anywhere else. Dr. Burg, Dr Koida, Sue, Sandy and the whole staff are wonderful, so kind, friendly, and super helpful. They do everything they can to make sure you're comfortable, I love being able to have a blanket and and lay on a heated massage pillow during longer procedures. I can't recommend them highly enough!

I just moved to Oakland, so was in the market for a new dentist and definitely found her! Dr. Koida has great bedside manner, unlike other dentists I have had in the past, and her staff was very friendly. It had been a couple years since I had seen a dentist -- I know, so irresponsible -- but thought I would try her out given my recent move and was thoroughly impressed. The location could not have been more convenient to Rockridge BART, so grabbing a bite to eat before my appointment was easy. I will be going back next week for a couple fillings.

Dr. Lindsey Koida has been my dentist for the past 10 years and I'll drive all the way from San Ramon just to see her now. She does excellent, meticulous work and I've referred all of my friends & family to her practice as well. She also has excellent chair-side manner! She's laugh out loud funny and it makes the visits go so quickly. The staff at the practice are also outstanding and so friendly every time I visit. I love the boutique family practice atmosphere- you're always personally well taken care of. Highly recommended!

They no longer accept Delta Dental. When they sent the letter announcing this change I called to ask what it means. They explained that it means I have to bill Delta instead of them but Delta would still pay. In fact, they charged me way more than what a cleaning checkup had ever cost me in the past and asked me for a check. Delta paid half of the bill which I think was fair given they charged far too much. I would advise not going here if you have Delta and caution in any case; they seem to me to be more interested in their financial bottom line then the care of the patients.

Truly patient care here. This is not a typical cold dental office. From the atmosphere to the service you receive, and the interaction with Dr. Koida everything makes you feel like you are in the trusting hands of a family friend. She asks very specific questions before jumping to a diagnosis and giving you a treatment plan. She sticks with what is only necessary to maintain your dental health. This office is great if you don't like high pressure, and nervous about going to a dentist.

Dr. Burg and his marvelous staff make the dentist an experience I actively look forward to. I had deep gum cleaning and some fillings done and felt no pain (other than the pinch of injections.) They were 100% clear about what was going to happen, and Sue spent a lot of time on patient education so I'll need them "as little as possible." I really appreciate this.

Where do I start? These folks know how to take care of their patients! Dr. Burg and all the staff are very friendly and fun! (Did I just say fun? At a dentist office?) Yes, I'll admit I have had a lot of good laughs thanks to their good-natured personalities. One of their top priorities is to make sure you are comfortable, they are very good at communicating, letting you know the steps of the procedure whether it's, "cold air coming, you'll feel a slight pinch, ok we're starting the drilling do you want to turn up your headphones?"
