BollyX, featured on ABC's SHARK TANK! earlier this year, is a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world. Its 50-minute cardio workout cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and smiling.

Step 1 - Sign up for a training (we offer 3 types of training: online, over Zoom, and in-studio). Step 3 - Complete your certification (take a master class & pass an online multiple choice exam). Don't ever do the instructor training. The instructors are cliquey, discriminatory against people with disabilities, and bullies. They play favorites with other instructors who attend their classes as participants. The BollyX program itself is great, but I was left with no choice but to leave after the way they treated me.

3-4 years later and I keep coming back to BollyX, specifically at the Dance Complex. It's all because of the OG kickass instructor/master trainer: Fen Tung.
BollyX is a Bollywood-inspired dance fitness class. Having taken Zumba for a year prior to trying BollyX, I felt pretty OK venturing into another dance-based class, but to different music. The class was tougher than a lot of my other Zumba classes, but still so much fun.

I'm a huge Bollywood movie fan, but am sincerely terrible at learning choreography and dance moves, so I delayed trying BollyX until today. Anyway, it's as fun and low stress as reviewers say. Ritika was fun and sincere. It wasn't as intense and sweaty as step or zumba (just an observation, not a complaint). Please try BollyX if you are dying to try it yet also dreading it.

I love group fitness classes and Bollyx is by far the most fun and physically-challenging dance fitness class I've ever been to! Fen and Dalia are great instructors who have a ton of energy and are passionate about what they do. Bollyx is a great workout and will definitely make you sweat.
One advice that I have for the instructors is to introduce new dance routines occasionally to keep things fresh for regulars.

I have attended BollyX, Zumba and other dance workouts at various locations by various instructors. This one is the best.
Studio at this location is a bit hot as there is no air conditioning, but works perfectly almost like hot yoga.
If you are looking for a fun cardio workout and love dancing, this is the place to be. Try it even if you hate dancing, you might just start loving it!

This class will kick your butt while tickling your ears with the pumped up music and the enthusiasm of the instructors. I don't think I've ever seen instructors get so hyped!
Quality of instruction: Great with showing each move slowly towards the beginning of the class and then amping it up later on. You can tell they've really been thoughtful on how to "teach" moves while also not boring regulars.
Atmosphere: Super energetic and enthusiastic, if you haven't gotten that already!
Space: Dance Complex is dance institution of Central Sq and that said, no AC

I am so lucky to have moved to Boston just in time for the second annual Yelp at BollyX night. What a thrill! I was instantly attracted to the concept doing grad school at Carnegie Mellon, where our student population is about 30-40% Indian. Any chance our populus gets, they fill and perform privately choreographed routines that look amazing, fun, and channel buckets of energy, so I jumped on the opportunity to try it for myself.

I love working out and thought that dancing was not really a workout. I did not know how wrong I was until I bit the bullet and tried out BollyX. It's some crazy cardio, kids.

What a fun time! BollyX will have you moving and on your feet the whole time, giving you an awesome workout. What's really important though, is the fact you won't even realize it! The music is great, the moves are really fun to do, and the energy of the class is unmatched. Most important, the instructors really seem to be having a blast, and that shines. This is one of the only fitness routines I actually look forward to attending. Certainly a unique way to burn calories and work on your confidence!

Time for an update!! Like my previous review states, this is still my new fitness best friend, my new fitness fiend if you will...or just my new obsession. Whatever you want to call it, I love BollyX and haven't stopped going to class. When I can, I try to go two to three nights a week. Now that I'm officially a BollyX trainee, I wanted to give more positive feedback.
First off, classes are offered at The Dance Complex in Central Square, and are taught there by a few instructors, Fen, Dom, Nellie, and Liza (8:30pm Mon and Thurs nights). Classes are also taught by Anita Patel at iDance

Dance fitness at its best.
I went to a BollyX class at BSC Downtown Crossing led by Dom, who absolutely crushed it as instructor. She kept the energy up, was easy to follow, and was an incredible dancer. I will definitely be returning to another one of her classes.
Overall, it was a great workout. Different types of Bollywood dancing work different parts of the body, so you're sure to leave exhausted. For example, some of the Bhangra dancing requires a lot of jumping and huge arm swings, while some of the more traditional dancing requires squatting and more precise movements.

I think this is dance fitness at its best - BollyX will give you a challenging but genuinely fun workout. If you take this class and don't have a perpetual smile plastered on your face the majority of the time, you may in fact be a robot.
Bollywood based, the music is joyous and celebratory and the fitness format is very well designed, alternating between high and low intensity routines, with some toning to boot.

BollyX is amazing -- the new Zumba! I've been for two classes: one paid and one courtesy of Yelp. Both times I was astounded by the hardcore cardio workout (you work up a SWEAT) and the enthusiasm of the instructors. The steps are simple but fun and the time flies. When you've got about 15 minutes left, the instructors take you through simple choreography for a song, repeat it and then divide the class into two and you "perform" for your classmates in a large group. I thought it was great fun and everyone was super encouraging and supportive.

The instructors are awesome - they really get you going with the great music and moves! They are talented and make it look so easy but they do all the moves with you. Most classes are packed so it makes for a very sweaty class but everyone is having fun and burning calories. The class is good for all abilities and super fun! I would rather do BollyX than Zumba ...even though I totally have 2 left feet - lol :o
It's great because I would think that you would get a really great workout at any level because it's fast-paced and you can adjust the intensity depending on your experience

I went to a free Yelp class here taught by Fen and Dom, and it was so intense and so much fun!! Dom was super enthusiastic and motivating, and made you want to just go all out with your moves. I did not expect the dancing to be such a workout, I'm a moderately active person myself, and I've been to some dance workouts before that were a nice change from the gym routine but not such a good workout.
Twenty minutes into this class I was drenched in sweat, and forty minutes in, I thought it would never end. The moves were also just so joyous and exuberant that you couldn't help but

I grew up in India and have been dancing for Bollywood songs for a while now for fun. I was a bit skeptic about BollyX before my first class but was pleasantly surprised with the energy the instructors brought to the class, the moves and the kind of songs they selected. The best part is the gracious combination of "let's learn some moves" and "let's get some cardio". You will for sure sweat a lot and feel like you've danced for some peppy songs by the end of the class. This is NOT social dancing. The instructors are quite professional, the classes are fun and

After hearing great things about BollyX from friends and getting bored with my winter gym routine (nothing seems to make the treadmill bearable for me), I decided to try out BollyX last night. I showed up finding a mix of newbies like me and happy regulars. Now I know why - it was such a good time!

I had a wonderful time at a BollyX dance work out on Monday night. The instructors are very friendly, and emphasized smiling and having fun as more important than mastering the movements on your 1st class.
It was a very fun time and a great work out! My back is a bit sore today, and I earned 5 Weight Watchers Activity Points for the 1 hour class - which for me is equivalent to walking 10 miles!
No dance experience is needed to have fun & get a great work out from the class. (Trust me, I'm NOT a dancer.)
The class I attended was a free promotion, but the normal rate is a reasonable
