I very much enjoyed my membership with VIM. I have to say that the highlight of my experience was personal training and small group training with Valerie. She was extremely committed to my success and helped me establish an effective goal plan. I saw incredible progress with her (I lost 10 pounds) and I am stronger, happier and healthier.

Joining VIM as a member has been one of the best decisions I've made since moving to the area 2 yrs ago. In addition to offering top-notch fitness classes (which is the most effective way I exercise and trust me you are sore, sweaty, and fulfilled after every class), VIM fosters such a welcoming, inclusive community. Gyms can often feel intimidating, but I've met some of the most genuine, eclectic, awesome people in the VIM community. Couldn't recommend this place more - in my view, the best gym in Cambridge! :)

Very disappointed with their customer service. I joined the club February 1st and unfortunately I got transferred to a new job in another state on February 28. I ask for a refund and was told it was not possible. Then was told by GM that he needed to speak to owners and see if it was possible to charge one month of service and refund the remaining amount. That I though was reasonable compromise. Got the call that owners would not refund anything. Imagine charging full amount and not refunding anything. Where is the customer service or integrity for a fitness center. Advice don’t do yearly plan

The club posts signs asking members to wear masks. When I pointed out to the staff member at the desk (Nov. 12, at noon) that someone was using a treadmill without a mask, and had been doing so for at least 30 minutes, her response was: "Oh." When I looked into the club 10 minutes later, the person on the treadmill was still maskless and the staffer was still eating her lunch. My VIM membership runs through next Spring and I've generally had good experiences. But I've stayed away during the Covid crisis and this was my attempt to go back. If I can't make use of the club

I’ve been a member for 3-4 years now and really like this gym. It is clean and facilities and locker rooms have an upscale feel with mid range prices, and it is rarely crowded even during prime times. You should definitely check it out if you are looking for a “nicer” gym while not
completely breaking the bank— a huge step up from BSC or Planet Fitness while not quite as cushy as HealthWorks, for example. Viewing and bookings classes is easy with an app, and you can even freeze your membership if you take a vacation or extended time away. I will say that the primary Central Sq location

LOVE this place. The location near MIT ... Unconventional ... It does not have the machismo GYM, rather has some zen feel with WINDOWS !!! This place makes me want to go workout given I don't feel like I'm going into a dark closet with joey grunting.
The big windows are great for people watching to pass the time while in your cardio zone.
One major drawback: no weight machines! So I focus here on cardio and floor work.
Staff is great too. Easy going w/out ego.

I was compelled to join VIM due to the lure of being a boutique gym. I don't mind paying extra if I am going to receive top notch service. I also joined VIM due to their offering of 'month' to 'month' payments. I convinced my fiance to join with me, and not join BSC.
After 5 months - I can say that I only used the gym a handful of times after many discouraging experiences. The scent of the gym is nauseating after you have smelled it so many times. Bathroom doors do not lock well, lockers are always full. The classes are mediocre at best - except for the Bali class (AWESOME

The staff here are extremely friendly and extremely helpful. I love that. And in direct contrast to the underground cave-feel of Central Square, this location at University Park is bright and sunny. But at the end of the day, the facility itself pales in comparison to the Central Square VIM.
For starters, there are fewer machines, and they're crammed really close to each other. So, if you or your neighbor REALLY smells while you're sweating away on the treadmill... Well, there's no escaping it. However, I do like that the treadmills and ellipticals are facing out the huge windows

I signed up on a one-month trial basis for VIM, which ended up being $99. My work was one of the special locations that could get you a discount, but that discount was only available if I signed up on a monthly auto-renewal plan and included a couple-hundred dollar signup fee. I went on the regular month-at-a-time plan - most of the people I spoke to balked at the exorbitant price, but I was happy to pay due to the volume and variety of classes they offered. Mostly, I wanted to try barre!
Signing up for the classes ended up being kind of difficult and needed an app that crashed quite a few

I haven't been to the spa part so can't comment on it. It looks nice from the window though. For the gym, most of what I think for the Central Square (different review) goes for this one. I'd recommend it to anyone. A few things to note though:
+The windows are great. You can people watch while you run.
+It has a nice little stretch area in the back, separated from the rest of the gym.
+I've heard people think that it's poorly lit. I think it's nice that it's a little dim.
+The crowd at this location seem a little more chill. People aren't intimidating at

If this location were big enough to house the amount of patrons you have, it would be better. If I didn't have to run half naked for all of Central Square to see, it would be better. If you had clean towels available in the locker room... ever, it would be better. And if EVERY WOMAN didn't piss all over the toilet seats, it would be better.
Other than that, pretty cool to have a spa/salon/snack bar/gym altogether. But I think I'll be sticking to Central Square from now on. It's the only location I can *really* get a workout in between 5-7p...

Bought a Groupon voucher for massage mani/pedi. I had to wait 4 months before they had an appointment available.
I had a hard time finding parking, so I called to let them know I'd be just a few minutes late. They were fine with it. What I didn't know is that they were docking me for it. Upon my arrival, the receptionists must think it's really cool to be there and uncool for me to be late because they were so rude. When my masseuse finally came out she told me because I was so late I was only getting a 45min massage even though I paid for 1hr. I got a deal, so I let it go.

So disappointed with this place, it had so much potential!
Just redeemed a groupon for this salon - hour massage and mani/pedi for $69. Great deal, right? I thought so, until I went...
The massage was so-so. Therapist was very nice, but not that great. I get a lot of massages on a regular basis, and this one wasn't that awesome, but I wouldn't base my review on that...it was just "sub par", but not terrible. Very nice girl...
But the nails!!! 90 minutes for a mani pedi? 90 minutes? No special services like a scrub, lotions...nothing! She didn't even cut my cuticles

I can't actually speak for the physical location itself, because although I've tried to get in - and essentially give them my money - I've not been able to get an appointment... even worse, the process has not only been difficult, but also involved a less-than helpful or sympathetic "customer service" person at the spa.
Like many people, I bought a Groupon for a massage and mani/pedi. When I tried to make an appointment, I was told the next available time was more than THREE MONTHS from now. I asked if I could upgrade to get something sooner, thinking that they might

I joined the gym at VIM last Friday (woohoo! go me), but I had a BuyWithMe that I was using since December. The location is convenient, the gym is clean, and it isn't particularly small or big. There are a decent number of treadmills, bikes and ellipticals, a stretching area, weight circuit room, an area for free weights, and a studio room where they do classes- mostly yoga, pilates and the like. The gym does get crowded around 5:30pm, but the rest of the time, it's not bad. They also have a steam room and a sauna. I pay about $60/month (but it is cheaper if your company does a deal with

I wish I could give zero stars. I've been there three times now. First of all, I had a massage next to the salon area, so all
I heard was gossip and hairdryers while trying to relax. Not to mention, the masseuse wasn't that great and talked the entire time. But the WORST part is the woman at reception. She is rude and snarky, and she messed up my appointment and then blamed me for doing so. It's overpriced for no reason. Go anywhere else.

This is a review for the spa portion and not the gym. First of all I cannot rave about the Nuriel, the masseuse I followed from a previous location she worked at, Nuriel is without a doubt a 5 star masseuse. My only minor criticism keeping this from being a 5 star establishment (and maybe I'm being too picky) is that I could hear too much backround noise from outside my room where I was getting my massage, in prior places I'm used to complete silence.

I came here as part of my "Groupon yoga tour."
Classes
As tends to be the case with gym yoga classes, the classes here felt athletic and the routines predictable (think sun salutations without much variation from class to class). I'll usually go to beginner classes when I'm not feeling 100% physically, but in this case, I did not see any real variation in the level from class to class. All classes are 1 hour long.
Atmosphere
The gym is small but very nice/modern. No yoga atmosphere here.

Mats, padding mats, straps & blocks are available.

I hate working out. It's boring, and there's all these strangers around sweating and grunting. It's nasty, it hurts, it's expensive, and I don't want to do it. But I finally got to thinking this year, it's time to commit to this. I did the free week membership at one of those large basement gyms where there's, like, 236 people in a row on all these machines and a used band-aid on the bathroom floor. No thanks. I need somewhere quiet and clean. Something small scale where no one has to witness my paltry feats of strength.
