Our mission here at A Child Becomes Preschool is to nurture each child's individuality, innate curiosities, and instill a desire for lifelong learning as we prepare preschoolers for kindergarten and the world beyond. We offer a warm and nurturing learning environment that engages students in activities that promote social and emotional, language and cognitive skill development.
Through play, music, art and literacy we encourage self-expression, cooperation, inquiry, conflict resolution and reflection. We pride ourselves on providing certified teachers with strong backgrounds in early childhood education. Equally as important is a teacher with compassion, sensitivity and one who is able to instill curiosity and wonder in your children.

Services
A Child Becomes Preschool is located in the Admiral District of West Seattle. We are a part time preschool for students ranging in age from 2 1/2 - 5 years old. We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, secular preschool that resides in the basement of the Admiral Congregational Church.

We have three distinct classrooms separated by age, which enables our teachers to group and reach students at similar developmental stages. Even still, teachers develop activities that allow students to engage and learn at their 'just right' level - we call this scaffolding. Common centers in each classroom are: Writing, Dramatic Play, Blocks, Sensory, Art/Painting, and Library.
The Butterfly class is designed for children ages 3 and 4. We understand that in these early stages of life, the impact of cultivating strong social and emotional skills is far reaching. We work to provide our students with tools and experiences that give them self-awareness, the perspective of others, and learn empathetic behaviors.
The Sunbeam class is designed specifically for ages 4 and 5 with the intention that children will progress on to Kindergarten. It is the final step in the three year adventure at A Child Becomes. Our literacy program has been developed over the years using a combination of successfully researched and comprehensive programs: Literacy Beginnings and Holder Fastie Alphabet Curriculum.
Martin Luther King Jr. challenged people to step up and help others and question what they can do to make the world a better place. It's not too early to talk about these concepts with preschoolers - it encourages children to see the world through the eyes of another and helps to develop compassion and empathy.
