Ocean Plaza Hotel

TERRIBLE place! We booked our room in advanced for 3 nights 12/22/21 checking out on Christmas morning. My husband myself and our 4 year old. Well we are out checking stuff out on Xmas eve when I get a phone call from them saying we are closed tomorrow so you will either need to pay for an extra night and check out on 12/26/21 or leave right now. Well we couldn't stay the extra night we came from Wisconsin and had to head home. So we tell them we will leave today 12/24/21. We get back to our room that is paid for til tomorrow and there is a lock over our handle so we couldn't even get in to get

If you are ever in a state to off yourself, this is the place. I'm sure you wouldn't be the first.

Had to walk around 2 other motels just to get ocean access.

The stairwells smell like people routinely come here to piss.

Do not ride the elevator! Mechanically it does not feel sound. Also, it was so dirty and nasty that you will likely contract COVID or some other disease by entering.

It's a bad sign when you need TWO keys to secure your door. I barely slept for fear that I was going to end up on an episode of Forensic Files.

First of all I read all these reviews and really started to cancel!! But went ahead and stayed front desk lady was very nice loved her accent!!! Room was perfect looked as if it had been remodeled!!! My stay was great will be booking again !!!!

So far so good. The rooms are clean enough for you to put your stuff in and sleep and shower. There are a lot of negative reviews, but I promise this is good for the money you pay. We got a double room with queen beds for four nights for 200 dollars. So I'm just saying? The room smelled a little like a black and mild when we came in, but the staff here freshed the room and it was fine. The freezer is got a lot of ice on the shelf, but we brought coolers so we weren't worried about it. It had a nice heated indoor pool, two working hot tubs, an outdoor pool, and it's right here on the beach. This

Great for the money. The kitchenette sink is so small it's hard to wash the dishes though and our toilet kept messing up. But it was a clean room with a great view. The kids loved the indoor pool, you don't have to worry about them getting burnt.

We checked in at 830 or 9 pm. One of the ladies at check-in was kind of short but I just chalked it up to her having a bad night or just off day .. The room was on the 7th floor which is not accessible by the elevator. You have to go up one flight of stairs. Our room was good it looked like your basic overnight motel or cheap hotel room. We had the two room queens. It was good for the price. It's not clear when booking that a side view doesn't have it's own balcony but that wasn't a huge deal. Basic motel for affordable price. The room was clean. Pool and beach access. Check in is at Polynesian motel. Staff was polite and helpful. Plenty of towels in the room. The only issue we had was the tv wouldn't turn on. Front desk sent someone over right away and BOOM... TV on.

Reasonable prices. Great view in the ocean front rooms. Could use a little sprucing up but enjoyed our stay. Indoor pool with 2 hot tubs. Outdoor pool cleaned every morning. And customer service and room service was good for us. I asked for help 3 times the first day and they were quick and polite with us. Picture was our view from the balcony.

Definitely not a place I would've chosen. Beds are supposed to be queen size but are definitely full size. I have both sizes at home so I'm pretty sure I know the difference. However they are pretty comfortable. Bring your own blankets tho. The kitchen is fine if you don't touch the upper left portion of the freezer. It's shocked two of us already just closing it. The shower is meh. It's cheap so I get it, fine. The toilet however will barely flush half the time and it's only been used for number 1.. balcony is nice. You do need the will and strength of your ancestors

Very rude staff, dirty room, tv cable cord was cut and the hairdryer cord was too! Shower water pressure was so hard it hurt. Won't give me a refund. Horrible!!!!!!

Just don't bother. You'll thank me later. Room was filthy. Toilet barely flushed. Shower backed up. Outside of the room smelled like human urine. Just save your money.

BEWARE BED BUGS in ROOM 705!!!!

We stayed on September 19-21 in room 705 and checked out early due to bed bugs crawling on the beds and pillows not to mention the roaches. I get the whole "you get what you pay for" but BED BUGS are absolutely unacceptable. I didnt expect much but I never would have imagined that Ocean Plaza would have put in such terrible conditions. The front staff was very unprofessional an acted as if it wasn't a big deal and just tried to move me rooms. Which I immediately declined and moved motels for the rest of my stay at Myrtal Beach. As far as the most common problem topics I read....

Bugs - haven't seen any inside yet, but this is day one to be fair, wish me luck.

Outlets - easy fix unless you are 95 years old and unable to reach behind a table or are new using electricity

AC - works, doesn't quite get to the temperature you set it for (such as 60 in summer time) but it is by far good enough for this discount motel.

TV - normal cable channels, but as mentioned by most, all fuzzy. This would be due to

It's been a few years since I last stayed at OP. But since this was a last minute road trip decided to stay at OP for convince reasons. The check in process was pleasant and was able to check-in early which was nice considering most don't allow.
I was pleasantly surprised they had updated the furniture, appliances, countertops, and beds. Looks a lot more inviting than before. Room was clean and smelled fresh.
I liked that they provided a ton of extra towels. I hate asking for more towels, so this was a very nice change.
I came during spring biker week so it was more noises than usual

Can't complain too much about the hotel room itself, considering the price we paid for it. The customer service on the other hand was down right insulting, i've never walked into a hotel and been treated so poorly in my life. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude to the point, me and my fiancé debated on leaving. Will not be returning.

This place is absolutely the worst place I have ever been to in all my life. We booked through booking.com for this motel and it was nasty as soon as you walk in. Not to mention the person who was checking us in was so rude and it was so nasty, we decided to LEAVE and find another place. Long Bay Resort was so nice to get us a room at last minute and it ended up being CHEAPER than this awful place. I'm so glad they were so rude because we ended up in a much nicer resort for less money. I would not recommend this to ANYONE!

If you like insects in your room this is the place to stay. You can also get in some good cardio when you have to walk up 8 levels of stairs. Also when you get in please visit the hotel next door because no one is here to greet you when you get here. If you try calling this place you get an automated message that the voicemail is full, so you can't leave even a message.
Also note if you pay for all this excitement in advance when you so up you have to pay a resort fee at checkIn and sign a form with stating you are await of all the extra fees you will be billed later during you stay.

I stayed here for 2 weeks and it was wonderful. No bed bugs because I checked a bunch of times prior to reading other reviews. I had gotten the room with 2 beds and a kitchen. I was surprised to see how new everything was. I bought my own dish soap and hand soap because if you're like me then you wash a lot of dishes and wash your hands a lot so they don't provide a lot.

The only "complaint" I have which is barely one, more like a suggestion is that they come knock on your door everyday at different times. Sometimes I'm not there and it's nice to come back to a clean

The staff seemed like they hated their jobs and the woman at the desk was slow, and unhelpful. We also weren't told that there was no elevator to the 7th floor until we were handed our keys; luckily we are young and pack light. This is the worst place I've ever stayed in. Thankfully we were only there for 2 nights, but we could hardly stand just that. If I could give it a zero star rating, that would be more accurate. I'm pretty sure the pictures they show on their listings are from a different hotel because it's not even close to how this shanty actually looks. The building is completely dilapidated. You get what you pay for, and that's fine. The condition of the hotel itself was not less than expected. It's an affordable motel. However the women at the front desk were extremely unpleasant. Before I arrived they hung up twice and wouldn't answer the phone. I can't imagine that the line would be tied up at six in the morning when I arrived on my flight. First, I have to acknowledge that I get what I pay for. I paid $100 for 2 nights and considering the fact that this "resort" (and I say resort because there is a resort fee of about 10 bucks) is on the beach and for my traveling purposes very close to the airport and a Denny's. I am addicted to out-of-town Denny's for some odd reason.

I was able to check in early and I was treated with courtesy from all staff I encountered. Front desk staff printed my boarding pass to return home and was consistently friendly throughout my stay.

Do not stay here. It's DIRTY. DILAPIDATED. Staff is incompetent. Staff gave our room to someone else and they came in while we were sleeping. Then they moved all our belonging to another room while we were out for breakfast. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. They did refund us the remaining nights that why they get one star. Avoid this place it's that cheap for a reason. No one wants to stay there.

The worst place I have ever stayed at. The mold was everywhere. .Couldn't sleep that it smelled so bad. They have a coffee pot in the room, but NO coffee. They will sell you the coffee. Door was broken. Rude employees. Also they charged more when we checked in, even though we had a receipt that it was paid in full. This place ruined our vacation. Also, the towels were left over (used) from the previous guests.
