Children and adults alike are inspired by the character-building traits of our system's five core animals. While each animal illustrates different fighting techniques, we also look to the animals for more personal development. The Tiger gives us Self-Confidence and strength to move forward in all our daily activities.

We teach Shaolin Martial Arts in a professional manner, within a clean and family-friendly environment. We strive for excellence in all we do. Guided by our Founder, Grandmaster Steve DeMasco, 10th degree Black Belt, official Ambassador to the Shaolin Temple in China, and personal disciple of the Shaolin Temple's Head Abbot Shi Yongxin, our mission is to bring authentic Shaolin martial arts instruction to men, women, and children of all ages.
Kung-Fu classes for children are 30 minutes in length. Key elements of each class include fitness activities, stretching, development of focus and character-building sessions. Skills are taught using age-appropriate methods of combining fun/game activities, and martial arts drills and stances. We use short in-class competitions that allow students to demonstrate mastery of the material to further enhance their self-confidence.
Our "Dragons" classes are 40 minutes in length and include a higher level of cardio, strength-building, and stretching activities. This program helps develop a solid martial arts skill foundation-similar to Karate in some ways, but different in so many key areas. Discipline, control, and focus-building skills, along with continued character-building sessions are also part of the curriculum.
Group classes are one hour in length. Students range from age 15 to 70+. The class combines cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility drills into the warm-up session, which may last from 15-30 minutes, depending on the mix of students in the class. The remainder of the class is spent learning various techniques and forms, with an emphasis on a strong technical understanding of centering and power-generating movements.
At our Martial Arts School in Portsmouth - weapons may be learned at any rank. Students under the age of 18 must have their parent's permission to study a weapon form. Weapon forms are a separate program of study, and are usually taught in private lessons. Students have a choice of basic weapon forms for the staff, Chinese fan, double daggers, straight sword, broadsword, sai, and nunchucks.
