Services
Port City BJJ is built on the mission of providing world class jiu jitsu instruction in a team oriented, fun yet competitive environment. Our instructors have been training BJJ extensively for a collective 50 years. Our instructors have direct Gracie Barra lineage under our friend and professor, Roberto Maia (Black Belt, 5th Degree).
Port City is known for its high level BJJ instruction. We've developed a core of talented instructors who draw from a variety of backgrounds to expand the scope of our classes. Jay began his training under Roberto Maia in 1999 and received his black belt in 2008.
In that time at Gracie Barra Boston, he trained with BJJ notables: Carlos Gracie Jr., Marcio Feitosa, Braulio Estima, Daniel Gracie, Roberto "Tussa" Alencar, Roberto "Gordo" Correia, Leo Vieira, as well as Boston home grown talents: Kenny Florian, Keith Florian, Nate Ryan, Pat Barbieri, Chris Page, Marlon Xavier, Mike Pellegrino, Chris Owen, Tadashi Takashima, and last but not tallest, Steve Medina.

Board shorts (or similar), rash guard or tee shirt, athletic support, and mouthpiece (optional). Many of our members aren't interested in competing. Several of the best BJJ practitioners in the world choose not to compete. Our classes are geared not only for the serious competitor, but also for people who want to learn self defense, get a great workout, and enjoy the community.
Our Fundamentals Program is designed to provide relatively new students with a solid foundation of Jiu Jitsu focused on the basics. This series of classes focusing on drilling the most elementary positions in Jiu Jitsu, so it's also a great class for advanced students that want to drill more. This series of classes is designed for the intermediate to advanced student.
