Services
San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital has been proud to serve the Fresno area since 1978. Dr Kenneth Stocks has been associated with the hospital since 1987 and Dr Aubrey Alfaro joined the practice in 2004. Our team is committed to providing high-quality veterinary care at an affordable cost. One of our priorities is educating our clients on how best to keep their pets happy and healthy.
Appointments are taken Monday thru Friday starting at 9:40am and Saturday starting at 8:20am. We allow enough time for each Doctor to examine and diagnose each patient while not making other clients wait too long. For that reason it is very important that you arrive for your appointment 5-10 minutes early to allow for paperwork to be filled out and you to be seated in an exam room.
Having your pet seen on a yearly basis for a physical exam is no different than you seeing your Doctor for your annual exam. And, with your pets shorter lifespan it is even more important to catch any problems quickly before they progress into something that can't be fixed (like removing a small tumor before it starts to in invade other parts of the body).
Vaccines are an everyday part of our life. We vaccinate our young ones as they grow and follow a recommended protocol. With more information becoming available as with the potential risks with overvaccinating, we have changed our vaccination protocols based on the recommendations from AAHA, AAFP, and the most current symposiums.
Our dedicated surgical suite is equipped with the latest monitoring and support devices. Items like suction, electrocautery positive flow ventilation and patient warming devices all ensure the safest environment for surgical procedures like spays and neuters to abdominal expoloratory surgeries and orthopedic surgeries.

I highly recommend San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital! Dr. Alfaro is exceptional! Gina is incredibly nice. The professionalism, compassion, assitance and quality of animal care is on point. We drive from Northern California to this office because we trust Dr. Alfaro with our fur babies. We know the staff is experienced. Thank you to San Joaquin Vet. for being amazing! Cottontail, 1 of our fur babies, is looking forward to her visit.

Rattle snake rangler Bob Cat need to a vet. This place will accept a wide range of pets. Bob required a dental cleaning and they do that.
A very caring place that is very professional and upto date. Everyone was very concerned and nice. When anyone handles Bob... you will need a few pints of your blood type on hand. There was no problems...no one got bit. I read a review about a disorganized front desk. Yes there are a lot of files and paper sitting around... that is because of the volume of pets passing throughout the day and probably they need a larger office.
This is the place to go if you

Unfortunately the front desk seems unorganized especially one individual that was rude and short. The vet that saw my dog was very kinda and gentle. I have high standards after taking our two dogs to Merced Animal Medical Center. They were the best. Now just too far to go. Will be looking elsewhere.

My dog Jinx had a bad reaction to K9 Advantix II flea and tick medicine. I called them to get assistance and Gina was very helpful and provided me with detailed care instructions to relieve his symptoms. They even called me the next day to check-in on Jinx. The staff were very caring and responsive. They even cared for and adopted an abandoned puppy that I had taken in for services a few months ago.

Can't say enough. We have several animals and wouldn't go anywhere else. Their prices are very fair and their love for animals is apparent. They go way above and beyond to answer concerns and even go as far as to follow-up with a call to make sure everything is going well. I love my furry family members and I feel good knowing they love them the same. <3

We had an airway emergency with one of our pet chickens and as weird as it may seem, they cared for him just like we would. The Vet and staffs compassion and concern was comforting especially when feeling silly for rushing a chicken to a Pet ER. I’m so grateful for their professionalism and treatment, which saved out little guys life. I will return for sure and highly recommend.
