Services
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs have rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include Comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; vaccination program; spay and neuter package; and specialized blood tests for all life stages.
Dr. Atwal is the medical director of South Bay Animal Hospital & Pet Resort. Once he finished his internship, he proceeded to pass all required national and state tests for certification and opened his own veterinary clinic in 1993. Since then, he has continued to practice the highest form of veterinary medicine here at South Bay Animal Hospital.
I grew up in the small town of Angels Camp California with many pets- dogs, cats, and horses. My love for animals has been present since I was very small. I've been working in the veterinary field since 2003 and I truly love it. It allows me to work with the animals whom I love and also enables me to work in the field of healthcare which is my passion.
I have always loved animals and science ever since I was young. In April of 2019, I made the exciting decision to attend Carrington College and pursue a career in veterinary medicine, and since then I haven't looked back. I have 2 dogs named Calli (pictured) and Rufus, as well as a cat and 3 tortoises!

We've done 4 TPLOs for two of my dogs so far. This place is the only one that didn't trim his nails while my dog was under even they had me signed the agreement for a complimentary nail trimming. They put us through hell on New Years Eve day. We did this procedure a few times before, normally the hospital will call us in a few hours (3-4 hours based on our experience) after we dropped them off to let us know how the procedure went and how my dog was doing. They asked us to drop off my dog at 6:30am on NYE, but until almost 12pm, we didn't get any call or any other form of communication regarding

The South Bay Animal Hospital helped us when Sage failed to do so. My dog had an amputation surgery executed in the Sage Campbell hospital. The week after the surgery, my dog got an infection and he needed help. I took him to Sage, and Sage said that for my dog to get help I had to stay in their parking lot for 4 hours waiting. They were working on 2 critical cases and I simpatize 100% with that and the fact they are low in personnel. The problem is that I offered them to give me a call when they could see my dog, and I would wait home. They refused it, by saying they didn't have the time to give

Great experience. Cat had an emergency dental issue where she needed surgery right away. They were the ONE & ONLY vet or even emergency place that didn’t have a month long waiting list for dental issues. For one canine tooth extraction with all the bells and whistles like head CT, blood work, putting her under, etc it was $2600… i didn’t know what to expect but I was terrified it would be past $5000 so yes, it was expensive, but it was more than worth it as I’m not a vet and my cat needed this tooth out. Luckily I qualified for 2k in care credit so it only cost me $600 after all was said

Honestly, saved the day! Only animal hospital or vet that would provide same day emergency dental surgery on my 11 year old cat. I called over 40 vets in various areas and SB animal hospital is the only one… that said they would take her dental emergency. I had no clue dental was a specialty and nobody would help me! I was at a loss. Took her to surgery right away and took my 5+ calls during her stay as I needed to check in on her every hour on the hour. Everyone was so sweet to me and my kitty. I was so scared I would lose her dude to her age but they assured me she would be just fine.

Quick response and friendly staff. Very caring people work here. Our Husky had pulled on a long leash and ended up dislocating a digit on his paw (short leash for now on). Called around and happened to be able to get in here pretty fast. They helped explain everything in detail and made us feel at ease and comforted our dog. They were very helpful and we are very happy we visited them. Our doctor was very impressive and detailed in her responses, diagnosis and treatment. Pup all fixed up and getting better now. Thank you guys!

We were concerned at first because of some other reviews, but after our visit we are very happy with South Bay Animal Hospital. The vet was very clear and informative with what he thought may be the issue and the next steps going forward. He took the time to answer all our questions and did not rush us one bit. They are pretty expensive, but that is expected for being an emergency hospital.

I used to really dislike the vets in the area since moving back to the SF Bay Area and this Animal Hospital completely change my mind. My very loving husky had to have an emergency splenectomy last Thursday night and this was the only Hospital that would take her in. The staff here is phenomenal, there was not one time at all where I felt "it's just my job" attitude. Everyone here is extremely passionate about SAVING your pet. The doctors here are willing to answer any questions you have about your animal's care. They are extremely fast at responding to you 24/7, I was never on hold on the phone

We had a very unpleasant incident with Kissinger a couple of weeks ago - which required staying at hospital overnight. At COVID times, I could not even be with my pet when he needed me, and had to 100% rely on the SBAH team.
I got regular updated… provided through the night(!), Drs Atwal and Spenser talked to me explaining the condition and treatment plan, answered multiple questions - and returned my baby with all symptoms resolved next day.
