Elma Animal Hospital
We are a full-service small animal hospital providing medical and surgical care. Dr Helen Sweeney has been practicing in WNY (the Southtowns area primarily) since 1995. Nicole, our practice manager/receptionist, has been with Dr. Sweeney since 1997; Katie, one of our Licensed Veterinary Technician, has been working with Nicole and Dr. Sweeney since she graduated from Medaille in 2003.

Other staff members include our full time technician Miriah LVT; full time LVT Jessica, part time technician Nikki LVT; Missy our receptionist; and Gabby our assistant. We also have shadowing/intern students on occasion. Dr Sweeney (previously Roberts) has been involved in the community since she moved here in 1995.
Services
Nicole has been the Practice Manager of Elma Animal Hospital since our opening. She brings over 18 years of experience in Veterinary Medicine and is currently working to acquire her certification in Veterinary Practice Management. She is a Buffalo native and resides in the city with her husband Kelly and younger son Derrick.
Aquatic Veterinary Services is a veterinary practice for pet fish. Dr. Roberts-Sweeney is also available for consultation via email. Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society is an organization comprised of over 70 veterinary facilities to help promote proper veterinary care and educate pet owners in the Western New York area.
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date.
Here are some questions/answers that we are frequently asked. If you have additional questions that aren't covered here, please feel free to give us a call at (716) 656-7387. What are the Hospital hours? The clinic is closed on Tuesday and Sunday. On Wednesday and Thursday the phones are off until 8:30 am to allow time for surgical patient check-in.
Oral anatomy in fish varies greatly by taxonomic family, feeding behavior, life stage, and natural habitat; failure to provide the appropriate husbandry and diet type can result in fish disease and deaths. An oral examination should always be included as part of the minimum database when examining fish.

Staff very friendly down to earth, unrushed. Vet Dr.Sweeney has a gentle soul and very kind, sweet. Lots of knowledge she answered all my questions gave me info packets. Explains everything prior to treatments or procedures. Best vet office. I've owned animals for years and have been to other vet offices. They are the best group of professionals that are real and sincere, and truly care about you and your pet. The receptionist is so uplifting and has great people skills! Can't help but love it there!!
