CHR manage a rental property for me. I intended it to be a passive investment, and that is what CHR make it. They are super responsive to any questions (I had a few when first renting the property) and once tenants were in place it has been a breeze. Good reporting and payment of funds collected monthly on day 9 or 10th of each month. Would highly recommend.

I'm a renter.
Reasons for 4 star: When I needed service done, they were very quick to act.
Why not 5 star: My move in day, my lease had said I would receive the lock box code at 8am. I stood outside for 3 hours calling and emailing until I got the code, luckily the moving company was late or else that would have costed me money.
Edited: changed to 3 stars cause they offered me an Amazon gift card for a 5-star review

I should have known when it took 3 tries just to get in to view the apartment, and was given incorrect lock box codes four times, that this is not a professional or well run property management company. If you try to call their office it is 100% impossible to speak to a real human. The voice message states they will return your call "as soon as someone is available"...in 5 months I never was able to get anyone on the phone. Only communication was through email, and would take several days to weeks to get a reply. Furthermore, after a month of living in the apartment all the cheap fixes and band

Delivers on Every Promise. Outstanding experience. It should be noted that we live out of town and were able to sell our house after 5 years of renters and property management with only a visit from a maid service. That should tell you everything you need to know about this company. I never had to get on a plane to "fix the place up." I just ordered a good deep clean and our house sold in 1 day with no issues. Also they made some really intelligent business choices with lease terms, lengths, etc. They had our house under lease for the entire period of 5 years. I think we may have had to make two

Teribble company to manage your property! As a tenant its been an awful experience. they dont maintain anything in the home which is why everything is broken or breaks. i havent even been here 2 months and i have had nothing but issues that are not taken care of timely or even by correct vendors they use a handyman!!! cant wait to not have to deal with this. The plan was rent until we buy but if i have to move into another rental not managed by this company or others like it i will!

Communication was hilariously bad when I was trying to get in touch before move in. I had to drop in to their office just to be able to talk to someone. Thankfully didn’t have to really deal with them to much after that.
The actual property was great and I had a good experience with maintenance (who fixed our AC and brought a window unit while we waited on that), but everything always felt a little sketchy.
Beware of extra charges. For a while they started adding on a $10 charge on our rent for some sort of identity theft protection but thankfully they did away with that. When I moved out I

I have rented through Charleston Home Rentals for the past 3 years and have nothing but great things to say! The online portal is easy to pay rent and request maintenance issues. All my maintenance requests have been answered quick, and the staff is also super friendly! I will continue to rent from them!

This experience has been exhilarating to say the least.
In the beginning, our realtor was very communicative, but once she got our money it was nearly impossible to reach her or have her get back to us. She arrived at the showing glistening, therefore, that is what I expected from this experience, including the state of the house we moved into. Well well well, to our surprise, Ms. Realtor had gotten one over on us. Thankfully, the owner of the company really came thru for us and I am extremely grateful!
Since I left 5 stars when and how will I be receiving that $25 Starbucks gift card?

Run as fast as you can from this company. I wouldn't recommend renting from Charleston Home Rentals to my worst enemy. We moved into Fenwick Hall Allee and within the first two weeks or so, my bathroom sink started flooding the bathroom. It took a week for them to respond to the maintenance request and their fix? They ZIPTIED the pipes back together. Obviously the sink kept leaking. They take an exorbitant amount of time to respond to all maintenance requests. When we moved in, our carpets and bathroom were filthy, and obviously hadn't been cleaned. One giant stain in the middle of the

Charleston Home Rentals is the worst company I've ever rented from. There were THREE unauthorized entries into my apartment while I stayed there. That is a completely unacceptable practice. Good luck getting someone on the phone over there - they NEVER answer. Requests for repairs went unanswered. My carpet got soaked from an AC leak and I had to clean it up myself. Used my own fan and towels. This property management company is a JOKE. I will forever be telling anyone who will listen how awful they are.

Charleston Home Rentals, LLC and Matt Manaker are a disgrace to the business of property management. I was referred to CHS Home Rentals by a reputable realtor in the area that retracted all other references to this company after hearing of Matt's lack of ability to manage, respond to emails, and have correct accounting procedures in place. Unfortunately, this problem is not limited to Matt alone, but extends to every member of the staff I've interacted with to include Shelby, Brittany, Ben, and Darin.

We just moved in and I'm already leery of this company. Before we signed anything we were assured in writing that all maintenance requests would be fixed prior to moving in. That did not happen. They also said everything was professionally cleaned, but judging from the residues found everywhere, I don't think that is the case either. Upon move in, my fiancé and I were given ONE key and no mailbox keys. I have asked on 3 different occasions how to get a mailbox key with no reply, but if we pay to have USPS rekey the box, the company charges us a $150 fee. We both already forwarded our

This company has a great website and relatively well spoken owners and staff. However, in my experience, they talk the talk, but do not walk the walk. After one year of surprises with Charleston Home Rentals, I was eager to find another management company that had a system and staff I felt that I could rely on.
From beginning to end, my experience with Charleston Home Rentals was one that can be summarized by gross disorganization, inconsistency, and poor communication.
Overall, I am sure they are nice people, but as far as providing property management services that give their clients peace

These guys should be in jail. Honestly. They are stealing peoples money.
After they stole from me 5 years ago I keep hoping they go under. But they are still out there robbing people.
Just look at the reviews on this site alone. And the BBB complaints. And other site reviews. How the F are they not in jail yet, never mind still in business?
They have been doing this for years now. At least 6-10 years. Taking peoples security deposits with no cause, siting previous damage. And in my case previous damage i took the effort to even repair.
If anyone reading this wants to start a larger suit against

I would give this business negative stars if I could. When I moved in, I asked them to do a formal walk-through with me. I am a very responsible individual, and I always leave places better than when I moved in. I have previous landlords' recommendations to prove it. I did not want to be wrongfully charged at move-out due to a pre-existing issue. When they refused to do a walk-through with me, stating they "knew the house was old" and wouldn't charge me for "wear and tear" (which I have in writing in their emails to me), I sent them photos of the house just for documentation

This is my first time writing an online review and my experience with CHR was so negative that I couldn't not write one. Where to begin...
1. On move-in day, we tried to plug our internet modem into the wall and the cable fell right out of the wall. We notified CHR that the cable was not installed and communicated with Matt Azar who assured us the house was wired for internet. Comcast came out to fix it. Charleston Home Rentals did not meet expectations for a rental company. I was a renter through their services and it was always a struggle to get in contact with the rental company throughout my time. They have a portal which is very user friendly to pay rent and submit a maintenance request. The difficult part was once writing a maintenance request to actually receive the maintenance needed. Our lease was terminated with the company with a change of owners. During this process, we received an email from Charleston Home Rentals to sign a termination lease. The following day we tried to reach Charleston

I rarely write reviews and felt this is one I had to take time and write. My son paid the rent with the wrong checking account (paid with his and not mine) which made the rent come back as NSF. I corrected it immediately and explained it was my son's first apartment and he is just learning about being on his own and made an honest mistake. Once it was paid with the correct account it was overdue by 1 day and they charged me a $450.00 late fee. I could see $100.00 but $450.00 is a crime. From that point on I paid the rent. As much as the boys (my son and his roommates) loved the overpriced

RENTER BEWARE!!! If I could give less than one star I would. Charleston Home Rentals is a very dishonest property manager in the Charleston/Mount Pleasant area. In my experience, the pictures you see on the advertised property are NOT the actual pictures of the apartment/home advertised. Plus, they require you to give a hefty deposit before you receive or even SEE the lease. If you submit an application, they have a HIDDEN "policy" that you will forfeit your deposit within 24 hours if you decide not to take the apartment for ANY reason - even if you haven't received the lease.
