Shout out to DJ Mad Mike and Cassandra for their OUTSTANDING customer service. We stumbled upon this location while walking on the crowded Riverwalk. If you want to round a great weekend, Karaoke at The Gavel is a must. The drinks, the service, the music, and a atmosphere is a must. #KaraokeFun #DrinkAndBeHappy

I left after I heard the owner doesn't care whatsoever about child predators in the building or even helping preserve future incidents. This is by far SCARY! Especially if you have children like I do.

Good location and clean which is important. The hotel is a little older and would benefit from some upgrades. There are only two elevators and they are small. Staff was friendly and didn't complain when we had to request extra pillows, blankets, toilet paper, and towels. We stayed in the Presidential Suite and there is a weird window from the bathroom to the bedroom.

The Hotel itself is great rooms are nice the hotel is nice, but the reason why I NEVER will stay here again the hotel staff is horrible and very very rude minus the bar staff they were Fantastic. So let's start with arrival the front desk lady, who was rude from the get go, told me my military ID wasn't good enough to check in, mind you i drove in town I'm not from San Antonio, she told me it wasn't a real ID excuse me lady so I'm good to die for your freedoms but not good enough to check in a hotel. My fiancé used hers and the whole time we were checking in she was snappy and rude. Fast forward

I only give it 3 stars and that's for the staff they where amazing. Very professional! It was either too hot or to cold and I was always waking up in cold sweats. Breakfast was 18.0$ for 1 person pretty steep. Considering you already paying 200 a night.
I will admit it was convenient place to get to riverwalk plaza. But I wouldn't come back not to this hotel.

Easy walk to the river and the boat rides. Only offering valet parking for $35 was a put off. However the lot next to the hotel offered 24hr parking for $10. The two young ladies checking us in were as friendly as a plant, didn't smile once, nor did they have a friendly greeting when we arrived. Very odd.We were told we wold get a text when our room was ready. Which came from housekeeping. When came back 45min later to check in the ladies at the front desk didn't know who we were. They really didn't know anything about the area. Such as where to pick up the boats on the river. Where the the restaurants

Hotel is on the Riverwalk but not on the lively part. It is still a good location for exploring the downtown area. We walked to the Alamo, Western Art Museum, and Historic Market Square and other places around downtown. They offered $35 per day valet parking but I parked right next door for $10 per day for a full 24 hours. We stayed two nights and our room was not serviced. We called the front desk the following day and were told that we had to put the note on our door requesting service and the person checking us in should have told us this. This is not acceptable. The room temperature will not

My friend and I were in town for the Rock N Roll marathon. The location of the hotel, to me, was perfect. It is technically on the riverwalk but not in the noisy busy end of it. It is only a few minute walk to get to all the restaurants and stuff. The location was also perfect for the race. They offered race morning breakfast which was a plus. One morning we did the buffet breakfast. It was a very good breakfast and the staff is super friendly. They allowed us late check out so we could shower and relax after the race and not have to pay for another entire day. The only negative thing I have is

Great location at a fair price. Staff was friendly & professional. My room was clean and mostly updated. Bed was comfortable. They definitely put lipstick on an old hotel (you notice that the insides of the elevators are unchanged from before that kind of thing) but for the money it is a good value. Finally, my room had a sliding glass door that opened to a fenced-in little grass patio. Everyone was out of the pool by 10 which was good. While there is a shade for the sliding door it does let in in some light. Something to consider if you need complete darkness to sleep.
