This is hands down the best hotel in downtown! The staff is absolutely fantastic! Ivan is the bomb! The bar staff, Leacy, Hector, Megan, Steven and Isaac, you seriously can not top them! They are totally top notch!l I can not say enough great things about this staff and hotel!! Definitely have to order Hector's 2 signature drinks!! They are to die for!!! Ask for the Cavender Martini and the Carajillo!!! You will NOT regret it!!!

Avoid. Room service doesn't answer the phone, so you have to leave a message. Lol. What are the chances they check messages before answering next call? I've been waiting over 30 minutes for them to call back. I had a great idea to speak with Hotel Manager about this. The Hotel Manager is not in by 8am? That explains a lot. Too many choices in SA to put up with this. The hotel bar and house keeping are having problems too. A decent manager could rectify some of this labor shortage, but they'd have to show up to work before 8am.

Update: Room service called 1 hour later

First and foremost I want to say that we did not stay here but visited for a meal and immediately felt welcome by the Concierge! He was a smiling face and helpful even though we were not hotel guests. I am reducing the rating by a star for the Ambler restaurant staff who could care less about your business or meal and the cleaner who wouldn't let our family use the restrooms even though we spent $100 in a meal.

We had a very nice stay for a conference.

Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful. All the rooms are suites, well appointed and the room rates are reasonable. The location is on a quite section of the river walk and convenient to all of the historic sites like the Alamo. It has good amenities including an excellent roof top pool.

Cons: All the rooms are located around an atrium which has the effect of amplifying all of the noise from lower levels Conversations from people down below can be heard in the rooms. Add a party and Mariachi bands and it can be very loud indeed. If you are parking

Comfortable bed, reliable internet, clean, and the service was excellent. One star deducted due to a need to change rooms. I'd stay here again without hesitation.

We stayed two weekend nights in September, 2020. We had been in Austin for five days and drove to San Antonio for the weekend. It is an easy drive between the two cities.

Hotel Contessa is right downtown and right on the River Walk. These are major pluses if you want to relax, walk, eat, and drink.

We had to check in at the desk and valet park our car ($42 a day). The expensive valet was probably the worst part of our stay. They convinced us there wasn't an affordable self-park option.

We used the hotel pool early in the afternoon on Friday, after we checked in. The pool is on the roof

Stayed at the Hotel for 2 days , August 1 and 2. room 502
Parking for check in is under construction and very limited. Choice is valet for approx $50 a day or across the street for $25 a day. Neither is a good option , as the valet takes 20 minutes to retrieve the car if you want to go somewhere , plus a tip for the guy getting the car.

The hotel is clean and orderly, it is old but maintained. Everything on the River Walk seems to be on the verge of wearing out.

Paid for a River view suite from which you cannot see the river. See enclosed picture. It appears that the best days for this area

We found a room available here same day after a different hotel deleted our reservation! We were very happy the Hotel Contessa had room for us. The suites are beautiful and have really lovely appointments: pillows on couches and neat artwork. The suite was also spacious and the bed was super comfortable! The only issue was the smell in the room. The hotel is undergoing renovations, but the smell in our room on the 10th floor was of DAMPNESS. It wasn't moldy, but it smells of mildew. I would definitely bring some ozium spray or febreeze or something to get rid of the damp smell. The hotel restaurant

We checked in very late (midnight), but I called ahead to notify the property. We discovered that a previous guest had clogged the toilet in our room... AFTER we used it. The toilet flooded and we called down to ask for maintenance and cleaning. Fifteen minutes later we got a call telling us a plunger and mop were outside our door. We had to deal with it ourselves. The next day I asked that housekeeping tend to our room and disinfect our floor (regular cleaning service was suspended due to COVID). I also requested additional towels, pillows and linens.

When we got back to our room later that day

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Contessa. The location is excellent. Right on the Riverwalk, but not the crazy loud part : )

Our room was huge and would be perfect for a family. It had a separate living room with large couch, tv, and table.

The bathroom was spacious and clean. Across from the bathroom was a counter with a mini fridge underneath. The Bedroom had a decent sized closet and the bed was comfortable. We even had a view of the river!

My only complaint would be the street noise. But that's a little nitpicky. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

We stayed for 2 nights on a trip to San Antonio. Within the first 2 minutes of me sitting on the bed I saw an ant crawling on the bed. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it and complain, but I looked around to make sure I didn't see any more. I let my guard down cause there were no more ants in sight, but when I woke up the second morning I had a big bite on my chest. I was so upset and grossed out.

There were also a lot of cosmetic issues with our room. There was plaster smeared on our bathroom wall, and a section of the ceiling above the shower was misplaced. The whole room could

With COVID-19, we never know what to expect when traveling now. I have stayed on the River Walk a long time ago, remember wanting to come back and stay at Hotel Contessa, it did not disappoint. With these unpresidential times, didn't know what to expect, the service was above and beyond. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed visiting the different shops and eateries along the river, but I more enjoyed having a drink in our own lounge. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the river, with all the lights at night, from both our sitting room

I saw a deal on hotels.com where I could get a room here for $135/night. We decided to take a quick trip to the River Walk and stay here for 1 night. They put a $275 charge on my card, they said for "incidentals".

This place looked really nice from the outside and nice when we walked in. Decided to valet park since they have no parking and I did not know there was a parking garage right across the street. It is $42 + tax to valet and I could have parked in the same parking lot they use for valet for about $25, but thought fine, I will let them deal with it.

We got to our suite and

Amazing Riverwalk views from the 12th floor

They are doing construction on the pool and spa area so it is unavailable - ask for a discount

This is located within walking distance of the entire Riverwalk. Such great views and many more restaurants close by.

.5 miles from the Alamo and a quick bus ride to the Spanish missions.

Happy hour at the bar down stairs is amazing and it is from 4-7pm. Get to go cups for the Riverwalk

4 stars because of the construction but what a great stay.

We had a wonderful stay here.

Location was perfect. On the river walk but the opposite end of the hustle and bustle. As someone who loathes crowds, it was nice to be able to venture at my own pace.

The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We arrived at 2pm and they were able to accommodate us with early check in. There was a minor mishap on our reservation, but front desk rep was able to quickly resolve the matter and send us on our merry way. He also provided area maps and listed suggestions of places to dine and shop. There was always someone to warmly greet us and hold the hotel
