This was our second stay at the Menger , the first one there was a little hiccup but after about 30 minutes it got fixed but I did reach out to the general manager Garvin to let him know what happened. That response was so amazing we went back this weekend for a two day stay and we were treated like royalty. Our first day we were so impressed with the history of the hotel and its beauty. This time we were completely impressed with the staff, the general manager, housekeeping and front desk. Make sure you book a stay here it's well worth your time. If I can give 100 stars I would.

We immediately left after finding bloodstains in the bed in the middle of the night. Someone on the cleaning staff had simply placed new sheets over the bedcovers, almost concealing a bloody nose's worth or blood at the head of the bed. Do they not clean their rooms? Not even during a pandemic? If they're going to act like a sleazy motel, they should price themselves as such.

This is the classic San Antonio experience. When you say here you are staying in a piece of American history. Service was outstanding! The bar is legendary. The hotel itself is about 100 years old. Some of the smaller single rooms reflect this in that they are a bit smaller than one would expect, But Thr hotels had many face lifts over the years and The double bedrooms are up to par.
One warning.
Valet parking is insane. At check out time it is a 45 minute wait for them to bring your car. We paid for valet, and ended up not using it to depart. It was a complete zoo to get your car out of there

I had noticed the great location of the Menger on past visits to San Antonio, and decided to give a try this year. The hotel was build around 1870, has has past guest including Ulysses Grant, Robert E Lee, and Teddy Roosevelt. Given the mode of transportation of 1870, there wasn't much need for a parking garage. All parking is valet parking. Had to wait 1/2 hour from the time I sent text to retrieve car, until it was delivered. Car delivered with air conditioner turned all the way down to 60 degrees, seats way out of adjustment. Its my first Cadillac--I don't appreciate big changes

We stayed at the Menger 3 nights and the price was fantastic compared to the other hotels in the vicinity. Menger location is excellent and it is rich with history. The hotel is very old and, while that adds to its charm, it also means you will forgo some of the more modern amenities. We had a small room, small bathroom & we didn't have a fridge or safe. However, the bed was super comfy, the sheets and towels were clean, and the staff was great! We were happy enough, although a longer stay may have made us feel differently. Now, I have to mention Faith at the front desk who was

I can't give enough stars to the wonderful and historic Menger and it's staff. It's an older hotel with wonderful architecture. So the walls are a little thin but those amazing high ceilings. The wonderful location right next door to the Alamo is how I chose this hotel when my husband and I got married at the Alamo in a midnight ceremony on July 4th. This was our 2nd trip but certainly not the last. Will be back. Note: not all rooms have mini fridge but ask the front desk for one and they get you one. Did we see ghosts, no didn't see ghosts.

We had a wonderful stay here last weekend. It was a reward for my grandson who has been studying Texas History and wanted to go to the Alamo. This hotel is right next door and almost as old. The staff were fabulous, the room was clean and we had no problems with hot water or anything. The furnishings were beautiful. The historical displays were better than most museums. We took the self guided walking tour. I learned more about Teddy Roosevelt and the Texas Rough Riders than I thought possible.

My boyfriend and I were touring the Alamo during our stay at SATX and we passed by some questionable looking hotels nearby. We found out that two of the most haunted hotels are here at the Alamo (this one and the Emily Morgan across the street). Teddy Roosevelt used to recruit for the Rough Riders at the hotel bar here.
The first time I passed by this hotel, I had no interest looking inside. After the riverboat tour, we happened to go to the Davy Crockett cabin store to check out what was inside. My boyfriend found a back exit door and holy smokes it goes into the Menger hotel.

This hotel is the oldest continuously running hotels west of the Mississippi and remains as gorgeous as it was years ago when I came as a child. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and we didn't experience any hauntings the hotel is known for! The hotel is located central to everything we wanted to see. The Alamo is right next door, and the Riverwalk is across the street. Valet allows in and out privileges, which makes it nice. The only negative I can say is that we didn't have hot water or heat during our two-night stay, and we were not informed of this upon check-in. Cold showers

I would like to mention how satisfied I am to have a kind response from the General Manager . I'm not a super picky person however , one thing I learned in management is if you see more than 3 of something than call it to the attention of whom ever is in charge . And that's what I did . As I mentioned in my review that I would still go back and as a matter of fact we have reservations set for a future date .
The Menger is just a gem that isn't scuffed . I once again thank you and highly recommend your establishment to any guest that is inquiring to stay there .
Kind regards

Such a big disappointment
I can't wait to go back home and forget I even stayed here.. thank goodness its my last night. It started out Valet was great.
Service at the restaurant & bar was hit & miss.
Had request for our room to be cleaned when they did they only changed the bedding. No refrigerator or microwave. Had to ask for towels and soap. The AC drain pan emptied on my head, face & clothes as I walked in the room today. I hope I don't get sick from who knows what! No one contacted me with apologies or to make amendments. I have images and video of the damages...
