Lovely historic hotel minutes from the beach and within walking distance to absolutely everything! No elevator in this one but walking up the 4 flights of stairs was absolutely great exercise to burn off the… extraordinary meals that we had at fabulous restaurants within 5 to 10 minutes walk from the hotel. very clean with friendly staff. would absolutely book again!

I am originally from Cape May & this hotel used to be Gorgeous. I took my children 'home' for a few days & the hotel stay was just horrible. The ONLY thing good to report was that is was across from the beach.… Here are a few of the issues we found to be negatives~ smells like curry spice upon entering, noisy window units, beds & pillows(yes, odd) were hard as rocks, beds are NOT queen sized, fridge would never get cold, water pressure is VERY LOW, later than usual check in time, and noone was ever at the desk or could be found after 7pm (unsafe). I do not recommend to anyone

Great staff and great location! The rooms themselves are very clean and spacious. Due to people complaining about nobody being at the front desk and the restaurant being closed past 9, the front desk person made it very clear that quiet time starts at 9 pm which is also when the restaurant closes. Highly suggest Hotel Macomber and I will definitely be coming back!

I stayed here over the Labor Day Holiday. When they tell you to pack light, take them at their word. I had to go up three flights of stairs to get to my room since there are no elevators. The room itself was small (no closets or dressers), had a slight smell upon entering and it needs some minor updates (carpet mostly) but it was clean and comfortable. To me a hotel room is just a place to sleep and wash up and with this place I slept well and I was able to wash up with no problem. The staff downstairs was courteous and friendly, they provide parking at no extra cost and it is close to everything

The rooms look a lot better than what we got.
This facility did not have staff who wore masks, had cheap looking room, no none smoking outside seating and most outside space taken up by an onsite resturant called Union Park. Hotel Macomber does not serve breakfast but has a bagel place for breakfast you can buy from. Dinner is available by Union Park who did not indicate prior to our reservation for dinner that they had a $65 pp requirement.
Hotel guest were not required to wear masks and the policy was not enforced because even staff did not wear masks. I wanted to leave after the first night

Great location-right across the street from the beach. We stayed in the Osprey's Nest, which is the largest room in the hotel, is on the top floor, and has a beautiful view of the ocean! Staff was friendly. Our bed was comfy and air conditioner in room worked well. Only downsides are-because were on the 4th floor and it's an olde building, it took a few minutes to get hot water in the shower, but once it gets hot, it's very hot! As it states on their website, there is no elevator and you have to use stairs, but it's good exercise and worth the spacious room and view! Would stay

A bit disappointing. Although the place is nice and quaint, it is a bit misleading. It appears much like a bed and breakfast since you have to select one of the 'themed' rooms they offer. However, breakfast is not included in your stay. The description of the room we stayed in (Jacobsen) was also misleading. The description stated that there were 'partial ocean views.' For the most part, this usually means you will have a limited ocean view, usually from the side, not directly. The only way you could see any of the ocean from this room was if you went into the bathroom

Excellent experience here felt like Family. EVERYONE was so sweet and helpful! Close to everything - we walked almost everywhere. Across the street from the beach. Beautiful front porch met lots of wonderful new friends there—talked for hours. No elevator but that is part of the charm of a Victorian home. Will be back and next time will book directly.

If you choices I do not recommend this place at all!!! 👎🏼 pay the extra money and stay at one of the other facilities. It’s just not one thing there are multiple downers about this place. The only great thing about it is how close it is to walking to the beach and other places. A place should make you feel at home away from home and this place does not have that feel.

We chose Hotel Macomber to celebrate our anniversary weekend. The staff was so nice and accommodating. When we checked in, they saw that we were there for our anniversary and signed a copy of the Cool Cape May… book as a gift. That was so thoughtful. The Bagel Time Cafe was also very good and the staff there was very nice. Hope to be back soon! Thanks again for everything!

I love this place! Was here 9 years ago, and it was under old management. Just went back and the new management lightened it up a bit. It's right across from the beach. Close to walk to everything. The restaurant inside is wonderful. Only bad things are no elevator when you ha e to climb to the forth floor several times. Although an elevator would totally ruin the charm of this place. Hot water is hot, but it does take a few minutes to travel upstairs. Rooms are clean.

We just stayed here this past weekend for a family reunion...55 of us! The rooms were charming, neat and very clean while hugging close to it's vintage charm. Updated bathrooms and refrigerators in every room. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating to our large, at times boisterous group. It felt like we were at home together. All of this across from the beach and walking distance to everything. Two minor issues ...no bathrooms on main floor so did a lot of running up and down. Also no coffee in room or on property.

Cape May, a cute coastal/seaside town full of cute historical houses and b&bs.
Hotel macomber is a recommended budget hotel with a great location (right across the sea) and free parking!
Staff:
All of them very friendly and attentive. "Have a great night outside!" "Care for some mints?"
Location:
Go out the door, cross the street, hello beach! There are also food shops along this main road for when you get hungry.
Room:
Clean and organized. No complaints with the beds. Bathroom is small and dated, but clean. They have central air, and you can't go below or above

This is my first review, and I thought I'd start off by saying a few things about Hotel Macomber.
My wife and I started visiting Cape May long before we were married. It has become a yearly thing. We book a room online, in advance of the beach-season. We call to confirm the room. The staff has remained the same over the course of seven years. They offer a $25 rebate on anyone returning and although it's not much; it's something.
The hotel is always being remodeled/upgraded. The year they removed window AC units and replaced them by the quiet, door-topping models was memorable
