This review is sent to inform others to only go to Al's when they can order from the regular menu. We have been to Al's several times and were always impressed. However, this evening, New Year's Eve, the Chef's special menu was all that was offered. That being the case, we assumed the food would be even better/more special than in the past (which was superb). We ordered the seafood sampler and it was terrible... the Chef obviously has no idea that a crab cake is suppose to include crab meat and not be "mush"; the scallops were overcooked, and the shrimp was too dry! The only thing worth eating

Very disappointed. My husband ordered a Bailey's on the rocks & got a Bailey's, Jameson whiskey with chocolate syrup, iced coffee (how in the world??) but told the bartender he'd drink it. I ordered the Brisket ($24.95) which was very tough & chewy. I ate 4-5 bites & had it wrapped, figuring if I shred it, it might be edible. My husband ordered potato soup & Cajun Chicken pasta with sausage, bell peppers, red onion & Cajun Alfredo sauce ($22.95). Didn't get his soup until he asked for it when our dinner came out. The pasta dish had no sausage, bell peppers, red onion or Alfredo sauce (did the chef

Been wanting to eat here for a while now, decided to stop by with my family on the way home. Turned out great! The food was amazing. Very fresh and seasoned well, the only thing I noticed was the menu was smaller than your "typical " restaurants menu but I beleive I could of picked anything on the menu and still left being very happy and full. The staff was very professional and knowledgeable about everything. We were extremely happy.

The building is beautiful and multi-purpose with a restaurant, bar and Inn. The restaurant is laid out with plenty of spacing between tables. Everything ordered off the menu was delicious and fresh albeit, the wait staff was young and lacking experience, they were trying their hardest to make it a great dining experience!

Good burgers and sandwiches in a great outdoor patio alongside a creek running though town. The wedge side salad is particularly tasty. Wonderful service with staff carefully adhering to Covid safety. Masks on everyone and plenty of space between tables inside and out. Would definitely stop by again.

First time trying this restaurant, and I will definitely be back. The atmosphere is very laid back, but tasteful at the same time. Different dining rooms and a patio make up the house. Moriah provided excellent and efficient service. She's very personable! The club sandwich I had was outstanding. Turkey smoked in house! Farmhouse white bread was thick and hearty, though a touch dry at times. I added some mayo and it was great. Only thing that would make the sandwich better would be some coarse-ground mustard! I will definitely be back here again.

Even though the interior of the restaurant looked warm and nice we wanted to be outside on a perfect summer evening. We were seated on the patio for dinner where the view was ok. The beer selection was very good for these covid times, but the food was marginal with high price point and the service almost made us choke. As we were finishing our entree our server named Scottie wanted us to close out the bill. We realized that she wanted to leave work during the heart of the dinner hours and wanted her tip. I have been to many many restaurants and I have never been asked to close out the bill

First time here and in Pulaski, got the venison bacon cheeseburger with a side of seasoned fries (lunch menu). Burger was mouth-wateringly delicious, fries were seasoned just right as well. Service was quick and all employees were wearing masks, even disinfecting tables after each customer. Price was reasonable considering the quality.

A good experience, made even better by great waitstaff. We were seated quickly and someone came by immediately to take our drink orders.
We ordered the scampi pizza for the table, which came out quickly and was consumed just as fast. Not a complicated dish, but very tasty.
I ordered the steak: it was, disappointingly, a bit tough, but cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. The roasted Brussels sprouts were a home run: delicious, crispy and perfectly charred.
What made our experience particularly enjoyable was the waitstaff: attentive and fun, and obviously selected carefully.
A truly enjoyable evening

Went here for lunch and had a very nice experience
This restaurant is located in the square and is attached to an inn
The decor is unique to the area and used sustainable wood that is found through this area
The waitress and staff were very hospitable and our food for lunch was delish
We all had a variety of dishes such as Caesar salad
Pear salad with chicken
Rueben sandwich with potato salad
Also the restaurant was nicely decorated for Easter
I would definately come back here again and would love to stay at the inn

A total surprise. We thought we were walking into a normal diner, but it ended up being an elegant (almost steakhouse) hotel restaurant.
The price was amazing for the amount of food that came out and our waitress was fantastic.
The food was good too! The loaded potato wedges were to die for. I would definitely get those again. We got burgers, which were average. The other food that came out of the kitchen looked pretty good!
I would definitely go back and try more things there!

A great find in the middle of a sleepy VA town off Rte. 81.
Al's on First bears the sign "casual dining" on its door, but there isn't much casual about it. Attached to a boutique hotel, it's a gorgeous restaurant with vaulted ceiling, wooden flooring, large wooden beams and columns, and exposed brick. Hanging lamps and recessed lighting give off warm light, and rustic farmhouse tables anchor this very large and inviting space.
The menu is the typical American fare of (kobe) burgers, sandwiches, entree salads and everything in between. Everything is served hot and fresh
