Qupqugiaq Inn
We also care about the budget-minded traveller. That's why our rooms have the best price in town and some, even, feature a shared bathroom to keep your expenses to a minimum. Our japanese-style sleeping pods (very small, very cozy) are specially designed for those who are only looking for a place to crash after a long day on the most beautiful place on earth.

The location is great, right in the middle of mid-town Anchorage, near a number of good restaurants, parks and markets and just 10 minutes away to both the airport and down-town. Qupqugiaq Inn is a one-of-a-kind hotel. Each of our rooms is unique, with either Alaska themes or decorations from different cultures and handmade or ultra-modern furniture.

The staff is friendly and kind. Jennifer was a delight to talk to when making my reservation. A nice man helped us out with our late check in. The room was clean except for the top comforter on my bed. Would stay again!

I'm still here. Welcome a bit suspicious, times so handled up front. What do you expect for three hundred. Odds are good.

I stayed in the Qupqugiaq Inn in room 217 in September 2021. The sheets and mattress were a bit grimy, but at least that part was manageable. In the evening, I checked all around the bed, mattress, furniture. As I moved the bedside dresser, and as I moved the dresser, I saw a bed bug run from out under and scurry into the baseboard.
I quickly packed up my bags and informed the night manager, who told me when I asked if the hotel had bed bugs that “if you found one, then we do”. I immediately left, and he told me that I needed to call back the next day to ask for a refund. When I called the

I enjoyed my stay. It truly lives up to its slogan. It's affordable. Its comfortable. It's conscious. It's dainty. And the receptionist is amazing. Her name is POWEEH. John is also great staff. I will stay here again if I were to return

We arrived and were greeted by a nice woman. Who showed us our room. Which was the cute one with two beds and had a restroom inside the room ( the one with the windows facing towards the back) SUPER CUTE & CLEAN ! Wifi was excellent. There were a lot of noise for a good 5 mins, but it seems like a gentleman working night shift told them to quiet down. No complaints from my part. Great stay ! Wanted to book another night a week later but it seems like they get full pretty quick ! If I come back again.. I know where to come !

We were there for almost a week and did not see any bugs. There were mosquitoes as we expected. John was super helpful in giving us an idea of what to do first and jump starting our car. Jen took good care of us as well. And her coffee is delicious. Go to a cooperate chain if you need luxury, but if you are the type to backpack the world and talk with real people, this is the place for you.

I was ripped off. Went to a room and was promised 1 facing 36th 3 days from then, looked good I paid to make sure I got it, Arrived, checked in, was given a room adjacent to the patio, the sliding door to the patio/smoking area did not lock. The room was as humid as a rain forest and the bed was sort of made with dirty filthy linen, I pulled back the blanket and saw hair and worse....
I went to the desk and mentioned all of this, especially the unlocking door which also led directly to the outside, and was told I had no need to worry, no one steals here... Finally i mentioned that I work at night

I recently booked a room on Hotels.com, 1st of all Hotels.com are not accurate on what they say. They stated that you won't be charged anything just needs my credit card info to hold the room but nothing about canceling within 24 hours. They need to get there website straight cause I got charged just for declining the room. Now on to Qupqugiaq Inn, Female front staff was absolutely rude. She looks liked someone that would not tell you to your face about honesty about the Inn. And she was the GM of this place SERIOUSLY. Someone some day someone will snap at her because she had a foul mouth

Let's get it straight: is this a brand spanking new five-star hotel? No. This is an older hotel in a part of Anchorage that has perhaps seen better days. That being said, it has character that you won't find anywhere else. In place of your cookie-cutter carpets at, say, a Marriott, it has old varnished hard-woods that money can't even buy anymore. The bedding was comfy and perfectly clean, as were the facilities. Sure, the floor heater wasn't the newest, but I don't care about such things, and this was literally the cheapest place I could find availability in town during

So I chose this place because Anchorage was pretty much booked every where else. Ugh it's a more like a hostel and it's on a busy road which means if your on that side of the building the free ear plugs from the front desk are a must. Another down side is there is no AC. My room which was stated to be renovated in 2016 has been well wore since that took place. The window sill has cigarette burns, the baseboard heater was all beaten up. The bathroom seemed moldy and the tub had a significant repair. It kind of smells a little pissy.
The upbeat is the staff is friendly and attentive. I

Staff was good and helpful. I think a 2.5 star would be more appropriate

You get what you pay for!

The rooms were OK, but the bathroom door did not latch and did not shut fully. The rooms were decent.

Breakfast was basic but decent. Bread , cereal , bananas etc. Hygiene seemed to be an issue here. You had to wash your breakfast plates and put it back for use by other people. Felt that at the very least a dishwasher would have been nice.

Jenn, Blonde woman, glasses, manager, just turned me away.

Went downstairs to amend my reservation. Waited patiently while she smoked a cigarette outside.

When she came back in, i asked to amend my reservation. She said, "i have to finish this housekeeping list first". I said, "ok, ill be back later, i guess". Her reply? "Ok".

Her name was jenn.

I went to front desk 15min later, and asked if she wasnt too busy, she said, "yes". I told her how rude she had been, her reply, "why would i give you another room now?"

I feel like Im extending myself by giving 1 star but it is for the night employee who met me at 2:30 am to let me into my room and carried my suitcase up the stairs. And well it was a roof over my head.

Arrangements:
My flight was changed on me last minute and I would not arrive until 230am. I needed a place to stay for 5-6 hours before a friend picked me up. So the price was better for that time frame. Earlier in the day I called the hotel to notify them I was arriving late. The lady who answered said "We will TRY to have someone meet you". That wasnt comforting.

Pretty decent for the price. Have stayed in both rooms with a private bath and the upstairs rooms as well. I don't like sharing a bathroom so I'd suggest getting a private room. They are small though. I don't like the feeling of being watched to get my own food out of the shared fridge. It seems to be run like a halfway house with rules and curfews. It's a bit cleaner than most for the price. As always, you get what you pay for.

Ok....at $54 a night with a shared bathroom, this is not for everyone. That said, they are close to the airport and close to downtown to make it work. The rooms are clean (I stayed 2 nights, then another night later in the week). It was quiet, in spite of being sold out and it fit the bill. All other hotels are$129 and up. Could the service be better--yes but they were pleasant. Could the TV have worked (both time????)--yes, but you are in Alaska. Get out and see the city. I would stay here again.

I ordered this place from some website that said they were a bed and
breakfast, but I arrived in Sep 2013 and they only do breakfast during the summer
season.

I got this place from a discount website for a pretty good deal. I was looking
for "the local experience", and I got my money's worth. I got the "Alaskan" experience.

I would stay here again, but I think it would be too much for a person that
really likes the Hilton or even Extended Stay. I can understand the zero's
in the other evaluations, but it's not that kind of place. It's not even a Motel

So, this place is a little weird--but clean, safe, and actually kinda hip. The decor is amazing. The price is a bit low, and in Anchorage that could mean very sketchy and scary, but that simply was *not the case*. If you have trouble pronouncing the name, just call it "The Q" -- everybody knows what it is.

We got stuck in Anchorage due to some peak travel airline woes, and decided to crash here for the night with the kids. Yes, i felt at home even with kids here. It seems to have a bit of a community atmosphere, friendly guests, and maybe almost hostel like. But you will get a private

As of the 2013 season, it is under heavy renovation, so some things are not quite as advertised. The Mexican restaurant is closed, and there are no waffles.

However, it is still an excellent value. There are plenty of other breakfast options. There is good coffee at any time of day. The owner lives on property and is quite responsive. It's in a decent location, and you're going to rent a car anyway, so you miss nothing. The beds are clean and comfortable, and the water is hot.

The only loss of a star is window shades. If you're catering to tourists who aren't used to Alaska
