Susitna Place
SUSITNA PLACE is located in a quiet, downtown Anchorage setting, on a bluff that overlooks Cook Inlet. This bed & breakfast offers unparalleled views and hospitality that allow its visitors to relax while still being steps away from the heart of downtown.

Everything that Alaska's largest city has to offer, with all of its shops, restaurants, museums, festivals, the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, and much more, are just a short, 5- to 15-minute walk from the B&B.An outdoor deck and huge windows provide spectacular panoramic water and mountain views. Mount Susitna (known locally as Sleeping Lady), Denali, and the Alaska Range's peaks and volcanoes can be seen on a clear day.
Services
We are excited to welcome you to Alaska and our B&B, Susitna Place. We have loved Alaska for its vast beauty and friendly, genuine and a little-bit-quirky people ever since the Air Force first moved us here in 1992. Although we moved away (to Ohio, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Switzerland, Pennsylvania and California, in that order) we often dreamed of moving back.
For many, Anchorage is a jumping-off point for other Alaska destinations. Yet, this vibrant city of 300,000 has plenty to offer. The Anchorage Museum of History and Art and/or Alaska Native Heritage Center are perfect ways to learn about the state's colorful past, cultures and people.

The scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail hugs Cook Inlet for 11 miles, or take a short drive to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to meet some of the real locals, or hike up or around Flattop Mountain.Check out the great online resource, Visit Anchorage, to see all that Anchorage and the surrounding area has to offer.
As Alaskans, we tend to avoid strict rules or policies, but we want all of our guests' stays to be as enjoyable as possible, so we have a few to help ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay for all. This is our #1 policy. We hope you make yourself at home in the Common Area and outdoor deck. There are binoculars available to help you see Denali, cruise/cargo ships, or the occasional beluga whale pods.

Monica’s place is incredible! The location is fantastic - easily able to walk anywhere downtown and/or access the costal trail. The view from the deck and breakfast alone make this place worth your consideration. Overall, cannot recommend Susitna Place enough. Do yourself a favor and stay here!

Susitna Place has an excellent location, superb views, pleasant and super-clean rooms, an excellent breakfast (and coffee!) -- and Monica could not have been more helpful. The outside deck was the perfect place for a congenial glass of wine, and the view of Denali is astonishing. Even when Denali is hidden, the view of the bay and Susitna was wonderful, and it's within walking distance of the Alaska RR, the coastal trail, and everything downtown. A real bargain.

This is a nice bed and breakfast with stunning views of the bay. Breakfast is quite good, consisting of hot freshly cooked breakfast items (e.g., reindeer sausage, potatoes, eggs) and continental items (breads, cereal, fruit). Host was friendly and our room had its own private balcony and nice view. We had great access to all that we needed.

This place is amazing. The location is great and the views are absolutely beautiful. The suite we had was so nice. Very clean and extremely comfortable with every little amenity you could want. The bed was really comfortable and we got a great nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and Monica, the owner, was so kind and attentive. We will definitely stay here again if we're back in Anchorage.

Best B and B lodging in my life. I would highly recommended. Monica made us feel like family and the dinning area and common rooms including the deck and balcony has a beautiful view of the bay. Here is a picture of a spectacular sunset at about 11pm.

Susitna Place B&B is a wonderfully unique, peaceful gem in Anchorage. Hosted by Monica H., with husband, Steve, the atmosphere exudes tranquility and harmony as perfectly as the spectacular views. This gracious, charming couple offer a remarkable breakfast and delightful conversation to start your day on the best of notes.
Monica is constantly expanding her knowledge of things to do and places to see as she and Steve explore and exchange information with guests about new adventures. She is a knowledgeable resource. Monica is a genius at décor, adorning walls with art that accentuates magnificent

I have to start with the views because they are truly phenomenal! From the B&B you can see the entire mountain range and beautiful Alaskan landscape. The B&B owners, Monica and Steve, were so welcoming and delightful (and don't even get me started about their adorable pup!). They made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. The room I stayed in was well decorated and comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in anchorage or looking for a cozy getaway!

As others have said, the location and view of the place are perfect. We were also able to check in early which was really helpful. I loved all of the light in the living room/common area and the array of board games and reading material. In addition to cable, they have HBO if that is important to anyone. The hosts, Steve and Monica are terrific, incredibly warm and friendly. I was feeling a little skeptical after booking Airbnbs throughout most of our trip but would highly recommend this place and if I'm in Anchorage again, will definitely be staying here

Our group of nine stayed in St. Elias, Katmai and Illiamna rooms. All the rooms were very comfortable. The only thing to note is that you can hear foot traffic from the common room in the lower floor rooms (Illiamna and St. Elias), which was only an issue in the morning around breakfast time. The common deck was a perfect place to start or end the day with views of the water. Breakfast was equally delicious with a spread of pastries, fruit, sausage, hash browns, etc. It's about a 10-15min walk to downtown Anchorage as well as the coastal trail.
Steve and Monica are fantastic hosts! Would

Super comfortable. Lovely large communal room and dining area with views of the inlet and sunsets! Our room also faced inlet and had a view as well from its own patio. Room very well appointed, as all of them appear to be. No noise from others in the front rooms where our friends and we stayed! Nice breakfast with lots of choices. Linda very welcoming and helpful suggesting places for dinner and sites to see. Tucked away in a totally quiet neighborhood yet short walk to restaurants and downtown. I will definitely stay here again!

Linda and David are gracious hosts. They both are very helpful in giving us information about area attractions, other places in Alaska, and answering our questions. They make an excellent breakfast every morning, freshly prepared, with a nice diversity of items. Our room was spacious, clean, and nicely appointed with abundant closet and dresser space. The bathroom was also very nice, with a double sink, bright lights, and a good shower. This place is only a 10 to 15 minute walk to downtown to our favorite restaurants. Considering its location and amenities, the price was reasonable. Susitna is a

If you're on vacation and you're not looking to wake up before 7AM, this is not the place for you (unless you have earplugs)

If you're a heavy sleeper and the sound of doors constantly opening and closing, people chatting, and other noises won't bother you, then this place is perfect.

Don't get me wrong-- the location is fantastic, walking distance to downtown and Linda keeps a very, very clean spot. It's just the minor detail that when on vacation, i like to sleep in and not be woken up by noises in the house.

Great price, i might add.

The place is super clean and very modern, actually more modern than what it appears on the pictures on Yelp. I wish the breakfast is a bit more fancy, maybe a hot egg dish, even just hot boiled egg with shells on, but I would still highly recommend this place to anyone.

Susitna Place was great! Linda was very friendly and sent an email ahead of time with directions to the B&B. She was also extremely helpful on the phone when I asked her a million questions about taxi vs. rental cars. She knew exactly the taxi fares to get to various places I needed to go and helped me to make a good decision on how I would get around. We were only in Anchorage overnight between our commercial flight and our air taxi, and Susitna Place made the perfect stop over.

The room was immaculate and comfortable. After our long flight, my boyfriend and I slept very well. Linda was up

Location! View! Staff!

We spent our last night in Anchorage here and our first three at the Arctic fox (owned by the Wildflower Inn) across town.

The view of the ocean from the living room and the outside patio is amazing. Great living room with wrap-around windows is really cozy and idyllic. The place is conveniently located to downtown and is in the good part of town.

The Arctic Fox was decent and the breakfast was great but its NO comparison to Susitna Place. The view at the Arctic Fox is of the railway station and the industrial part of town.

I highly recommend this
