Copper Whale Inn
Come visit us at the Copper Whale Inn, where you can take in spectacular views across Cook Inlet while enjoying downtown Anchorage's vibrant urban scene. Our friendly staff and personal service enhance the warm, relaxed atmosphere, creating a haven in the heart of the city. Our location is ideal, right downtown within walking distance of the finest restaurants, museums, attractions, shopping, and the convention centers.

The 11-mile Tony Knowles Coastal Trail is just one block away. The historic main house is one of the few structures that survived the great 1964 earthquake, and is an oasis within neighboring office towers. Our fifteen guest rooms are restful and inviting, and each one is unique. The living room is a warm gathering place with a great view, where breakfast is served when there is not a pandemic happening.

What a perfect weekend getaway at The Copper Whale Inn. Travis and I attended a Christmas party a couple blocks away and then came back to a comfy bed in the “Speakeasy” room and a delicious breakfast the next morning!
Candace goes above and beyond for her guests and has every little detail thought through, from eye masks, heater, umbrella, extra towels and blankets, to the delicious breakfast items and hot coco bar in the morning! I am so thankful for the hospitality of Lorene and Mare whom we met during our stay.
Proud to support a family-owned, woman-owned, Alaskan

Great location. I loved the room, uniquely decorated and so comfortable with a little patio off the room. The breakfast was awesome in a nice family room type atmosphere. Just a short walk to the trolley tour and many stores for shopping.

From making the reservations to leaving at the end of our stay, the Copper Whale Inn exceeded our expectations! This was a Birthday trip for me and a Graduation from High School trip for my son. I had to change the dates off our stay multiple times due to my work schedule, Candice and Loreen were wonderful about accommodating my needs. Our rooms were beautiful (especially the Mermaid Grotto) and quiet. We didn't have time to stay for breakfast unfortunately, but were able to grab delicious food and run each morning. We were late arriving and everything was ready to go for us and check-in was a

The Copper Whale felt like home to us as we transitioned from one outfitter to another Candice allowed us to store our bags with her while we travelled by boat (little room for roller bags onboard) and later as well when we checked out but wanted to shop Anchorage until our afternoon shuttle.
The rooms are full of careful touches like sleep masks and hair dryers and beautifully decorated. Breakfast is hosted by cheerful and attentive staff who can help with tips on where to go. There are bagels, toast, plentiful coffee and tea, fresh fruit. Cheese and salami, hard boiled eggs, cereal and yogurts

Stayed there 3 times during our most recent trip to Alaska. The rooms were very comfortable and spotless. Staff members were personable and went out of their way to make us feel “at home.” Hats off to Lorene and Jessica for their hospitality and willingness to answer our questions!! Would definitely stay there when we return!!

The beds are comfortable, the rooms quaint, the location perfect, and breakfast delicious. You can find that at a lot of hotels and inns, however. The staff is what sets the Copper Whale Inn apart. The grace, compassion, and kindness that Lorene and Candice showed our family during a challenging weekend was beyond our expectations or anything we have ever experienced before. By the time we left, the Copper Whale Inn felt like home and we were sad to say goodbye. We can only hope to visit again.

Spent the first half of our trip in Anchorage and stayed at the Copper Whale- it was AMAZING! The owner was available via text 24/7 and helped us with anything we needed and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of for our whole stay. The room was nice and warm, hot water lasted forever, and water pressure was great! Wifi worked perfectly, and gift cards were provided for breakfast for the cafe right across the street and the food and coffee there were perfect! Overall a GREAT place to stay!

I would absolutely NOT stay here again for $260. A total waste of money on my part, only booked the hotel because my friend insisted on it. Feel like I would have been much better off at the Hilton just down the block for $100 less. Bathroom was disgusting, no breakfast, and other than the sheets on the bed I have nothing nice to say about the place. Don't waste your money. Go straight to your next town - Anchorage is a waste of time.

We loved this Inn. On arrival my travel buddy was not feeling well. Cyndi welcomed us and went above and beyond by picking up some items from the local pharmacy for us. Everyone we interacted with was very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Located a 15 minute walk from the train station and short walk into the downtown area. Plenty of restaurant options nearby. A great B&B option, we are thrilled we booked with the Copper Whale Inn.

Based primarily on Yelp reviews we stayed at the Copper Whale Inn on May 17, 2017. I had reserved the room four months in advance, on January 17. Yet, they put us in what they later said was their "last-assigned" room -- one they should not assign to guests at all. As we reserved so far in advance, I do not know why they stuck us there.

Note that everything about this place except the room was fine; nice house centrally located and well-maintained, courteous people, good breakfast. But if you go, insist on NOT staying in the Carriage Room. It is in the very front of the building, less

We were booked at the Inn through a travel agent. It did not meet our expectations in the least. Decor a bit shabby. Not at all practical for travelers with mobility issues. No host on duty after 9PM. Unfortunately had a bad experience with host on duty. Not worth the room rate.

Cute place to stay and base your self in Anchorage, Glenn was accommodating and friendly providing recommendations and suggestions. Loved the history and age of this B&B. Breakfast is coffee, juice, pastries and fruit. Street parking. Be sure to grab a breakfast at the walkable, Snow City Cafe.

This B&B was a complete delight! We were three friends traveling together, so the suite (room 15) was perfect for us. Our 2-night stay was relaxing & so very enjoyable. space was extremely clean, charming and quiet. beds were cushy & quite comfortable. The lush gardens, running brook and koi pond are all lovely. location is great--very convenient to many restaurants, shops and walking trails. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.
(This was my first visit, but will definitely not be my last!)

I stayed here with my sister and stayed in a room with 2 twin beds for just 1 night before more people joined us. They were very accommodating with coming after check in time. They just put a letter on the door with your name and instructions on what to do. I room itself was a bit small but I guess we are in downtown. The location was excellent, you can walk around to many places. The beds were probably the best that we had slept on during our whole trip. They also have tea set out so you can get it before bed. The breakfast was breads, fruit, cereal, yogurts and such. There wasn't any hot

Nice rooms, bed and pillows were more comfy than some prior posts. Room was more like a small hotel rather than a bedroom, breakfast was more continental in nature, not a real true experience for breakfast but good breads, jams, fruit and cereal.

Conveniently located walking distance from most things downtown.

I'll be back.

What a charming small inn on the edge of downtown Anchorage. We stayed in room 14, and although it was a bit small and ell-shaped, it was comfy and quiet. The inn is divided between the main building and a secondary building below the front house. Each building has a common area with a kitchen, refrigerator and magazines. Our room had a small waterfall in a patio just outside the bedroom window and another small patio outside the back door of our room. It was nice, too, that there is a well-stocked bike rental shop on the front corner near the entrance to the hotel. Although there was tea and a

What a great place to stay! Came to Anchorage originally for 4 nights and stayed only 3 at the Copper Whale. Upon arriving, Nick greeted us and was super helpful/informative and as were all Alaskans, very friendly!

The location is pretty great and central. We could walk almost anywhere needed, although we rented a car for a portion of our stay since we wanted to explore more then the city.

The room was clean, bright, and has a functional heater. Private bath was well stocked. The only complaint about the room was the pillows, omg my neck was so stiff after the first night...they were so

I'm so glad the conference hotel was booked up. I found an inlet-facing, relaxing room here. Copper Whale sits between the Earth and Mars on the planet walk, is only about 2-3 blocks from the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail along the inlet, and is 5 (very short) blocks from the "arts" area on G Street (aka Darwin's). The walk to the anti-labor hotel hosting my conference was a bit longer but well worth it. Pretty much everything in Downtown Anchorage is an easy walk from here, and likely an even easier bike ride. And a bonus: This was less expensive than the conference hotel
