We drove down to Monterey for a one night getaway from San Francisco. The entire stay at the Monterey Bay Inn was lovely. Parking was easy, the check in was smooth, and we throughly enjoyed our visit. The highlight was the top floor hot tub, and the free breakfast in bed in the morning. Would return! :)

Hubby and I celebrated our anniversary in Monterey. At check in Beth was so professional and kind. She congratulated us and gave us a choice to upgrade our room. Wow what an amazing upgrade THANK YOU BETH the extra $ was worth it. Room was clean spacious and the view OMG. We are already planning our next trip with our whole family and we will definitely stay at your hotel again. Thank you Beth!!

Absolutely one of our best hotel stays EVER (and a much better value compared to their more "upscale" competitor up the street!). We were so pleasantly surprised by every aspect of our stay, from the view (harbor view is the best value), to the bathroom, to the continental breakfast. All things considered, probably the best overall value on Cannery Row, if you want high quality at a reasonable cost. MBI will be our go-to accomodations whenever we are in the Monterey.

We stayed in a 3rd floor bay room for a couple of nights and had an OK experience.
+ Great location. Could walk to a lot of places in the Monterey area.
+ Beautiful balcony view, even with just the bay and not the full ocean view.
- The beds are not very comfortable for the price we paid. The pillows are extremely thin and difficult to sleep on.
- The hot tub, although it had a great view, was more of a "warm tub". It wasn't pleasant to stay in for longer than a couple of minutes.
- While the breakfast is conveniently delivered to the room, it was pretty disappointing. There's almost no choice

Wonderful hotel right on the water. Fantastic bed. Slept with the door open. Screen door was annoying to close; it kept slipping off its grooves. They charge for onsite garage parking. The lobby relaxation music is entirely annoyingly too loud. But it’s a great stay due to its location. Super clean. Big rooms. Loved it and will return for longer next time!

Me and the wife went here in September of 2021 for 3 nights. The staff here is very friendly and have great customer service. The view was nice out of our room ocean view you could hear the waves which made it nice while you are sleeping but got chilly. The rooms and the lobby are very well kept and clean. The breakfast wasn't the best you got the same meal every morning, it came to your room, you can pick the time you want it delivered which was nice and convenient. I would recommend this hotel and we will be coming back.

I would have given 2.5 if I could. We have stayed 2 other times and loved it. We came here to celebrate our anniversary. This is were my husband proposed. This stay was very disappointing, we don’t spend this kind of hard working money like this very easily. Issues we encountered sliding glass door to patio impossible to open, pillows were like a sheet of paper, requested more pillows, morning coffee canister was old and not 100% clean on the outside, morning fruit was old. What straw that broke the camels back and me writing this review was; went down to get another key made wearing my mask

Great oceanfront corner room with balcony, fireplace, jacuzzi tub. Continental breakfast delivered to room every morning. We enjoyed the sounds of the ocean every night with the windows open. Great location with basically everything to do within walking distance. San Carlos beach is directly adjacent to property. We got the whale watching package which was great and highly recommended. We will return someday.

Loved the room with the Oceanview and balcony!
I had a great night of sleep with the balcony door open listening to the ocean water.
They have two outdoor hot tubs, one on the 2nd and one on the 4rth floor. The 4th floor gave us more privacy and a nice view of the beach!
The next time I visit Monterey, I'll most likely come back.

I'm so confused by the 4 star rating that is showed when you look up this establishment on Yelp. I brought my 6 month old son and my husband here for Father's day, it was his first father's day and I wanted it to be special. Upon arriving at the property, I noticed the outside looked kind of rundown, but cannery row has been there a long time so I knew the old-fashioned looked was kept to set the scene. Huge windows that give you an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean and San Carlos Beach right next to the hotel. A friend was showing me what he had planned for his wedding anniversary and the corner suites here looked so great I benefitted from all his research by booking this hotel for the family.
The suites have fireplaces, great views, and a jacuzzi bathtub. We enjoyed hearing the seals and otters and seeing them diving near the kelp forests. There is a constant stream of activity during the day with kayakers, scuba divers, and paddle boarders on the water.
The worst complaint is the side windows

Monterey Bay Inn exceeded all expectations for such a special getaway. We stayed here during a busy sold out weekend Sunday- Tuesday for our wedding night. Upon arrival we had called to see if we can get an early check in as check in is not until 4pm. They did not have any rooms ready but they did offer us a precheck to speed up the process when a room becomes available. We were welcomed and greeted by the friendly staff at the front counter for our pre check in and they were sure to give us a call when our room was available.

After sifting through 20 accommodation choices in Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel, I decided on the Monterey Bay Inn for its value for what you get and the list of safety protocols they listed on their website. All rooms have good-sized balconies (not just a Juliet style one), with all categories except for 1 (Cannery Row View) offering a water view. Based on the location, the Cannery Row view does not offer much of a view unless you just need a room to sleep in. I recommend spending a little extra and booking the harbor/ocean view room especially if you plan on getting takeout during most

I stayed here this past weekend with my boyfriend and all the staff were very nice and friendly, our hotel room was clean which was most important to me but our bed was so uncomfortable. I was up every hour tossing and turning, absolutely no support or comfort. The room was a bit stuffy and the AC didn't work- BUT there was a small fan in the room. What I did like was the wide varied of tv channels and the view was beautiful. The furniture was outdated but it worked for our stay.
Overall I would give this hotel a 3 star, due to the uncomfortable bed and small inconveniences..

Upon arriving I first noticed the parking structure was small as I had read about. However, I drive a truck and had no issues entering and exiting so don't be scared!
Check in: super quick and easy, staff greeted me right away and was very friendly. Read over the signage about the Covid restrictions, breakfast, parking, etc. and got my keys. They took a small deposit (normal amount) and paid parking for each night ahead of time ($20+ per night).
Room: top (4th) floor Harbor View Room with a king bed had two chairs, desk, table, a floor fan, mini fridge, keurig, bottle opener, and binoculars

It was a descent stay for or me here. Stayed in the third floor ocean front view room for a few days.
Pros.
-Great ocean front view from the balcony and bed...you can hear the seal and birds from your bed.
-room was clean
-can walk to a few vista points and the Monterey aquarium from here.
-the walks are awesome.
-breakfast in bed, they bring the complimentary continental breakfast to your room.
-very courteous and prompt service.
-Check out is at 12, this gives plenty of time to sleep in.

- I could hear the people in the above room squirrel back and forth.
-no microwave in room
