Came here for lunch wanting to try something new. Came with my pup and partner, which was nice cause they allow dogs outside but since it was pretty empty they allowed us to sit inside. We ordered baked clams and duck wings which were both delicious. It was my first time having duck wings and they were really good, crispy and thin and lots of flavor. Then the entrees came and we were disappointed. My partner ordered a steak meal, the steak was a little overcooked and the rib meal seemed to be very overcooked. The beans that came with it tasted burnt and the meat tasted like smoke, not smoked. The

After looking for a restaurant to stop in after a long ski day, we decided to stop here. Could not have been happier with the interesting menu options and pleasant staff. The food was outstanding. Will definitely be back!

It has been a while since we found an incredible restaurant but tonight the wife knocked it out of the park with her date night choice. Affordable too! We ate like royalty!
We will DEFINITELY be back! This is our new #1 choice!
Just look at the pictures! 🤤
Escargot (out of the shell in a glorious sauce)
Duck wings (fell off the bone and not at all greasy)
Oysters (not gritty at all)
Venison medallions
Berkshire grilled Pork chop
Crème brûlée
Chocolate ganache mouse cake
It’s affordable too for a fancy meal (casual attire) date night! Plus a great live band that still allowed you

Five star experience from beginning to end. The escargot was well prepared and very tasty. The short rib ravioli app was just as good. Plenty of flavor. The sea scallops were soft with a great buttery flavor. The tavern burger was delicious! Cooked perfectly with awesome flavor. The Home made bread pudding was outrageous! What a great dessert. The crème brûlée was equally as good. Well made cocktails however the $18.75 charged for a Bulliet rye Manhattan was a little over the top. Sterling service provided by our very professional and attentive server Joe Bux B. He was kind enough to explain

Food, service & staff, and atmosphere were all excellent. I ate here for lunch with some family and we really enjoyed it. Some say the price is high, but wasn't too bad and think it's fair considering it's going towards the upkeep of a gem from American history. Really felt connected to Washington and the patriots after eating here. The owner Rob is a cool guy and gave us a little tour and history lesson. We found going when it's quiet gave us an opportunity to check out all the historic artifacts more closely. Felt like eating in a museum with the patriots and it was an

Stopped for lunch after a short walk around this historic town. It's a wonderful tavern and in remarkable shape. It is worth a visit. We opted for a light lunch after all the holiday food we had. We shared the alligator hush puppies which were hot and very tasty. The shrimp in my Cesar salad was tasty but cold. $6 extra for 4 shrimp is a bit steep considering that my wife had a lot of chicken for only $4 more. We'll be back to try the dinner menu as the selections were interesting.

Everything from the decor to the service to the drinks and the food is excellent. Warm inviting atmosphere with fireplaces and after 7pm live music. This is a must see. The oldest tavern in the country. 5 of 5 forks to this restaurant.

Expensive but high quality food & service, in a genuine historic landmark. We had the linguine: surprisingly fresh seafood. And pot roast, tasty and historic. Their own ale was excellent.

We came to Manhattan from TX, and after reading about this place online decided to make a side trip out of it. Between Ubering all the way to Tappan and eating, we spent almost $400, and I'm so glad we did. The town was charming, the food very good, the staff extremely accommodating, and atmosphere (for a history buff) was off the charts. Even my wife loved it (NOT a history buff!), and our teenage girls appreciated some chill time away from the city chaos. Yankee pot roast was phenomenal...lean and fall-apart tender, though a little bland but nothing a little salt couldn't fix. Pot pie

I'd go 4.5 if I could!

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves and we hadn't been here for maybe 15 years. We opted to skip the crowds and brunch so did lunch. We picked the middle of week and to be safe made a reservation for 2:00.

We arrived just before 2 and there was hardly anyone there! Perfect we thought. We were seated near the fireplace with no one around! We were greeted with a smile and menus. My wife started with the Thanksgiving Spring Rolls and I had the Onion Soup Lafayette. Both were great, although Onion Soup tends to be salty, but I decided to live it up.

For lunch

We have been to this restaurant several times over the years and always enjoyed the food and old-fashioned atmosphere. So it was our first choice when my mother-in-law came to town for the holidays and we wanted to do a special night out.
On December 10th, at exactly 8:10pm (we have the phone log), we called to make reservations for Friday, Dec. 17. Knowing restaurants get filled with parties on the holidays, we wanted to make sure we got a table somewhere nice. The woman who answered the phone took our information and confirmed our reservation.
On the 17th, we showed up at the appointed time,

This tavern is amazing! You can feel the very fabric of the history of our country in every nook and corner of this place.
I believe this is the second oldest continuously operated tavern in the United States and it doesn't disappoint.
This is the place that they held Maj. John Andre while he awaited trial for his double dealing with Benedict Arnold. There is quite a bit of history weaved in, I especially liked the muskets on the walls. You definitely feel transported to another long gone era.
My son and I ate brunch here after some hiking in New Jersey and enjoyed both the meal and the ambiance

Literally unmatched ambiance and vibe! Imagine drinking a beer at the same bar where George Washington enjoyed his favorite brew! Oh and by the way you can have that same exact brew made with his same favorite recipe with local grains (Although I am not a big fan of George Washington's non-carbonated ale lol). It is even more enticing around the holiday times with the lights and decorations. I highly recommend the experience. Oh and the service and food are pretty good too! :)

A tour of the dewint house followed by dinner at this historically significant eatery made for a wonderful day trip from long island. My char broiled rib eye with a glass of cabernet and bread pudding made for an excellent overall experience including the historical ambience. This place is a nice contrast to the piermont circus. Yesmenia gets a shout out, as does the live music band members.

I don't remember ever being here before, but my family says I have--decades ago. But yesterday I thoroughly enjoyed a party for my niece's bridal shower.

First up is the layout, decor and history of the place. It's very quaint and cozy, and the little I did wander around, I told myself I want to come back another time for a more personal experience.

Second, as family members were setting up for the party, I observed the workers were so helpful and obliging, moving tables, adding tables, fetching things. Very professional.

The food was very good. It was a set menu, so I had

The oldest tavern in New York was our reason for the visit. Our family stopped by for lunch. I started with a raspberry margarita. The drink was yummy. For an appetizer I had the french onion soup. It was delicious. For lunch, the traditional American meatloaf. The meatloaf was cooked perfectly. They do have a kids menu. Would definitely stop by again if we are in the area.

Historic to say the least. Nice little restaurant in the Tappan area of NY. One of the oldest in the country and parts of the building are still original.
Friendly staff and the food was good but a bit pricey. Just for the history this is a must.

A quaint historic building in the historic downtown district of Old Tappan, this restaurant is a historic gem. From the outside, the building is clearly well maintained and upon entering, there are interesting historic artifacts hung up all over the wall. The host was very knowledgeable about the building, being kind enough to describe the history, as well as the important paintings and documents.

As for the food. We started with the shrimp cocktail and the stuffed clams. The shrimp cocktail was refreshing and the stuffed clams were delicious. My uncle had the Virginia ham that came with a delicious

Came here for Mother's Day. The crab cake was good. Both the salad and the endive plate were unremarkable. The filet mignon was decent, though I asked for medium and parts of it were rare. I did not like the bread pudding. It was too thick, not wet enough, and had quite a few raisins. The chocolate ganache was better.

We were searching for a place to eat on a Friday night that had live music and came across this place. It's the oldest restaurant in America with the structure being 300 years old. Not only is this a national landmark with incredible American history but it is also an amazing restaurant. The restaurant offers an appealing menu, great ambiance with several fireplaces and live music. They have spacious indoor seating as well as outdoor seating on a porch. Any table is a good table! I ordered the salmon with farro which was made to order, moist and perfectly pink on the inside. My husband ordered

Any and all Americans.. tourist... everyone should make a pilgrimage to the first and oldest tavern in all of America. Old 76 house is the corner stone of what we call the USA Today.

I'm at risk of trying to give you lecture that will make you smarter than a 5th grader... but this establishment is so rich in history with its original parts .... and the food. Phenomenal! Delicious, parable, decadent yummy food.

Staff is stellar. Our server Isaac was terrific. He was knowledgeable of the menu and gave exceptional service. The Chef, ... the food is made with sheer love.

There is a lot to learn from this place. They have historic artifacts and pictures all around. They also have outfits and guns from the 1700s. If you're a history buff and looking for good food, this place is for you.
My fiancé and I came here (he's the history buff) to check it out. We saw signs for it on the main road. I got a glass of their cab and he got a cup of coffee. We started with their half dozen oysters that were very fresh. We shared a chicken pot pie which was amazing. They make it with fresh cut vegetables and this puff pastry that will crunch in your mouth. We shared

Day one of my burger marathon and it was so far a good experience here at the 76.
My husband and I sat on the front porch in the middle of a lightning and rain storm, it was majestic and beautiful!
The staff remained wearing masks at all times which made us feel much more comfortable.
Tables are spaced adequately!
The drinks - beer tap list was mediocre, nothing extravagant or thrilling, but they did have a couple local craft options. At $11 a beer though I was hoping for a more exciting list.
My old fashioned wasn't the best I've ever had but it was good.
Sadly the house wine isn
