Shinjitsu Self Defense
My name is Hanshi Vito DeMola, and I am the owner, founder and chief instructor of Shinjitsu. We are located in Ronkonkoma, NY. We pride ourselves on teaching the highest quality martial arts, character development and moral integrity. We welcome children from the age of four, up to adults of any age.

We do not tolerate nor welcome individuals with negative intentions. Our "ego-free" team atmosphere is contagious and one-of-a-kind - just ask any of our students or parents of the children who train with us. The bottom-line is, your dedication combined with our style and approach to the martial arts will transform your life, both on and off the mats.
Services
At Shinjitsu you will learn the Japanese Martial Art of Jiu-Jitsu. We are dedicated to providing our members with elite martial arts instruction. We are also committed to helping you develop the attitudes and behaviors required to reach BLACK BELT EXCELLENCE - in all areas of life. Our goal is for all our students to become focused, self-disciplined and confident individuals who have the utmost respect for themselves and others.
Shinjitsu Self Defense offers programs for yong children from three to four, youth and young teens from ages five to fourteen, and older teens & adults from age fifteen & up. Separating our classes by age level allows us to give our students the personal attention they need to become their best. We call this Age-Specific Training.
Shinjitsu Self Defense is amazing for young children. Our age-specific "Pee Wee" classes for kids ages three to four have been specifically designed to meet both the physical and mental needs of growing pre-schoolers. Hanshi Vito DeMola incorporates the ethics, moral integrity and martial art techniques he's gained from a lifetime of experience into this unique, age-specific martial art program.
Shinjitsu Self Defense prides itself on being the premier martial arts school in Ronkonkoma, NY for children. We teach youth and teenagers the skills they need to succeed, while they learn to protect themselves. Our system and teaching methods are simply life-transforming, and will help your child to achieve any goal they set.
Training at Shinjitsu can do all of this and more. Martial Arts will help you to achieve any goal you set and, of course, you'll learn to protect yourself with one of the most complete and effective self-defense systems ever devised. Have you ever felt like you are too old to try martial arts, or maybe too far out of shape because you haven't worked out in years?

Ten years ago, in the summer of 2008 my husband told me that he wanted to enroll our then, 3 year old son in martial arts. To my surprise, this was something he had been considering for over a year. At the time, our son like most 3 years old's, was shy around other people especially children. In addition to his shyness, he was also dealing with the ever popular "terrible two's syndrome" and as a little guy, consistently "pushed the envelope" when it came to following the rules. As his parents we discussed the importance of respect, self discipline and self defense for our growing family and we

I have been training at Shinjitsu Self Defense for over a year and I really enjoy it. Hanshi Vito not only teaches self defense to his students, he also is a great mentor and role model to the younger students. I really look forward going to class and learning in such a comfortable environment.

My son and daughter have both been going to Shinjitsu Self Defense for many years. They both enjoy it very much and look forward to going to class every week. I am completely satisfied with the instruction my children have been receiving and that they will be able to defend themselves if the situation ever arises.

We are so glad we chose Shinjitsu self defense for our daughter. It’s helped her with respect towards others and most important her confidence. Hanshi Vito is fantastic! He doesn’t just give belts away he makes everyone earn it. This day and age that’s hard to come by!

My son has attended the school for about 8-9years, since he was in elementary school. The school has had an extremely positive effect upon him over the years. I enrolled him because, at the time, it was his latest interest but I kept him there because it was something I saw as a potential life skill that he would benefit from always in a number of ways. There were certainly times when his interest waned and it was a challenge to, at times, just get him into class. The instructors were a huge help in keeping him focused and coming back. They are no nonsense straight to the point and they set

My kids have been attending this school for almost a half a decade and I have nothing but praise for this school. As another person stated this is not a buy a belt school, it's a great dojo that is ran by very competent people. Owner and operator Vito 'Hanshi' DeMola is an extremely accomplished martial arts master who has very high standards, for himself (Hanshi teaches 99.9% of the classes) and of his pupils and students, only the very best and evidence of extreme proficiency will award you stripes and promotion. My family looks forward to going to class to make gains...This place is aces.

Honestly I don't even know where to start. From the beginning, my initial phone call with the owner I felt comfortable and confident in sending my then 5 year old to this self defense school. After endless hours of looking for a activity to enroll him in I found this school as a fluke in the our place circular. THANK GOODNESS! it's been a little over a year and I'm still glad I made the decision to send him.
Nothing is every sugar coated, upon signing up I was told not to expect him to "go through the rankings" quickly. Which for me was a big plus, I don't need a

I attended today's self defense class for women. You will learn the basics and develop the self confidence to defend yourself if ever in that unfortunate situation where you need to take immediate action.
The instruction is extremely professional and still is fun to be a part of.
I recommend this class for women of any age.
I will personally recommend this class to friends and family so that I can be assured each and every one will be able to defend themselves if ever the need arises.

Unfortunately people will be fooled by previous reviews, however being a customer of both the self defense and kickboxing aspects of this school for many years I can attest to professionalism and expertise of all instructors. I am sad to have moved and not be able to attend any longer because this school did a lot for me as a woman who wanted to become stronger and able to defend myself - but these are skills I will always possess thanks to this school. Thank you.

Both my Daughters have benefited from taking jujitsu with Hanshi Vito. This dojo sets itself apart from the rest. The students learn focus, discipline, and camaraderie as they make their way through the ranks.
Hanshi immerses himself into the school, the students, as well as the families. There are relationships there that exceed 20 years.
My wife started taking kickboxing classes and in a few short months she saw amazing results and then signed up for Jujitsu classes as well!
We love Shinjitsu and the family atmosphere there.

Horrible horrible. I've been in martial arts and I know what it is suppose to be like. The instructed Vito is extremely inappropriate. My son broke his arm in the Dodge ball class. I was told I could leave him and he would be well supervised. We had many doctor bills. On top of that I tell him we are going to quit and go back and forth with that bc my son hated the place. Well go figure Vito trips my son in front of everyone on his test day, after his arm and everything. My son was on the floor trying not to cry. He then says I have good lawyers. I couldn't believe what I was watching

Since I don't have a google account, I am writing this under my husband's name.
I have known Vito since the mid '90s when I was 5 years old and started training at Shinjitsu. It was one of the best choices my mother ever made for me. I continued to train there for well over 10 years. The quality of the education you receive there is something that can not be found anywhere else. They don't only teach you how to physically defend yourself, but how to mentally grow as a person. I gained self respect, self discipline, respect towards others, and learned that the art of jiu jitsu is NOT just about

Without a doubt, Shinjitsu is simply the finest run self defense school in the Long Island area.
My family and friends travel from the Nassau County Massapequa Area and have been doing so for years. You might ask why?
Shinjitsu since 1994, has been teaching the truest art of JuJitsu with integrity, honor, and trust.
As a student you will not only learn the art of self defense, but you will build character, self confidence, self control and respect.
You will find the classes may be tougher than some other schools, but if you follow through with your program, as you progress through each level

Overall, the classes appear to be OK. There are some kids who appear to really enjoy the classes, but my son (approx age 4) HATED them. He basically spent the entire 30 minute class standing in a corner because he wouldn't behave.

The owner is a nightmare. He comes off really nice at first (a little sexist = I recall one comment where he said that a mom was a "good mom" if she didn't give him any problems), but overall a nice guy. But the minute you have a problem or would like to cancel, he becomes extremely rude.

I called to discuss a cancellation for my son and apparently
