Our Mission is to provide a safe, rich and stimulating environment in which your child can develop his/ her language; grow physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively; and reach his / her greatest potential. We will provide children with a multitude of developmentally appropriate, hands on, real experiences, opportunities for play, and guidance from experienced, caring adults.
These will enable children to develop a positive self image; feel safe, loved and important; learn to respect and care for themselves, others and their environment; and develop a true love of learning. Each child will be seen and valued as an individual. Because activities and materials will be chosen to meet his / her individual needs, children will be able to develop to their fullest capacity and all areas of development.

Services
Our EMERGENT curriculum is designed to meet the needs of each child in all areas of development - cognitive, language, social / emotional, and physical. The curriculum is also specifically designed to meet each child at his or her own level. Activities revolve around play, and hands on activities that children enjoy.
We believe that babies should be in the least restrictive environment possible, so cribs are only used for napping. The rest of the day infants are "out and about" in the classroom. Rooms are well equipped with many stimulating toys and books. We provide numerous "hands on" experiences to enhance growth and development, such as finger painting, block and manipulative play.
Our toddlers range in age from 16 months to around 2 1/2. Our younger toddlers have 5 children in a room with one teacher, but these rooms adjoin, with a dutch door and picture window. This enables teachers to work together and help each other as needed, while keeping the children in small, intimate groups.
Our Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs each have separate areas in our school. The Preschool wing has four classrooms, joined by open doorways for visibility, and so that teachers can work together. Each preschool class has between 8 and 10 children. Pre-K classrooms are also joined by an open doorway.
American Sign Language Classes - Growing up in a home with a parent who is hearing impaired, learning sign language early was a necessity. As I grew up I began to pick up basic sign language by just being exposed to it on a daily basis. As my ability to sign fluently has grown, so has my desire to teach others to sign.

I worked at Foundations for a very short period of time. During my time there, as an employee it was very difficult to do my job as a teacher. It was a very hostile environment. Very invasive as well. When originally applying I had applied for a certain position and was than given a different position. Which I had stated I did not have the training or enough experience for. And was than thrown to the wolves, receiving no help from management. It took weeks to finally go over orientation. Everyday there was a new rule that I was not aware of. And when told about a new rule " I didn't know

Our son has been a student at Foundations for more than two years now. He was previously at two different daycares for various reasons(locations, hours, etc) so this daycare was researched thoroughly by myself as well as compared to my experience with the other two locations. After settling in at Foundations we could not be happier. The staff is friendly with very low turn around, there is a lot of communication and an air of no nonsense when discussing with the parents. I don't feel like I'm being given lip service about my child. They are not quick to shut down when someone mentions

We have had both of our girls at Foundations for the past year-and-a-half and could not be more happy with Foundations. The teachers are top-notch and care for the kids so well. Children have time to play outside every day, have great lunches, and a structured environment learning all sorts of new things. Foundations often has a wait list, for good reason. I highly recommend anyone looking for a daycare solution for their child in Charlottesville to consider Foundations CDC; we are glad that we did.
