C-Street Cooperative Preschool has been inspiring and educating children through creative play for almost 50 years. Located close to UVa, we offer a caring and engaged community for families who want to be actively involved in their children's education. Our school opened in 1972 as a non-profit school independently operated by the parents.
Housed in the basement of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, our preschool rents space and some equipment from the church, but is not otherwise affiliated. C-Street Cooperative Preschool is incorporated and has a board of directors headed by two parent co-chairs who are elected by their fellow C-Street families each spring.

Services
Play-based curriculum is more than just play! We believe in teaching the whole child through cooperative learning and play-based curriculum. Research conducted over the last forty years has shown that young children process and retain new information if they are allowed to discover it and incorporate it into their own play.
Parents play a vital role in the life of the school, and the families of C-Street become a true community. Parents play a vital role in the life of the school. As members of a cooperative, parent and teachers share the responsibility and opportunity to work together to provide a nurturing experience for the children.
Please donate to C-Street in order to transform a child's life through scholarships and provide the school with supplies that enhance our educational mission after scholarships have been met. C-Street Cooperative Preschool is a special place that educates the whole child through play-based learning in a community supported environment.
