At Founders Hall, we help make connections for members age 60 and older - with hobbies, interests, technology, and most importantly, one another! The health of our members, instructors and staff are the top priority, so some protocols are in place. Vaccinated members are now invited to use the building. Founders Hall will follow town mandates regarding masks. Currently, they are optional. Vaccinated members attending Founders Hall must submit a signed waiver and show proof of vaccination.
Services
Founders Hall provides a diverse program of social, educational and physical fitness programs for today's active seniors in a warm, fun and stimulating atmosphere. Founders Hall was conceived and built by Founders Hall Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit organization started by the families of Elaine and John Couri and Liz and Steven Goldstone.
Our building is a gathering place for our members to connect with each other and the hobbies, subjects and instructors that inspire them. Located at 193 Danbury Road, next door to the Town of Ridgefield's Recreation Center. The building has many features of a comfortable home, and indeed, Founders Hall members do feel comfortable here.
We are honored that people value our programs and are eager to join the Founders Hall community. Residents age 60 and older of nearby towns in Connecticut and New York that do not have a full-time senior center are also invited to join Founders Hall. However, the Founders Hall Foundation charter requires 75% of our members to be Ridgefield residents, so there is an extensive wait list (usually two to three years) for the out-of-town spots.
Ridgefield Department of Social Services, located at Town Hall, offers a wide array of services, many especially for seniors. Connecticut's Department of Aging and Disability Services offers programs and services to maximize opportunities for independence and well-being of people with disabilities and older adults.
Your support gives meaning and connections to our members at a time in their lives when transitions and loss are common (the average age of our members is 77.) Many members are newly retired or have recently moved. Adult children and grandchildren live far away or are busy building careers and bonds in their own communities.
