The San Yama Bushi Ryu School offers martial arts training in the San Yama Bushi Ryu system of Ju-Jutsu, Kodokan Judo, Shotokan Karate, traditional Tae Kwon Do, Police Defensive Tactics, R.A.R.E. The school's founder and head instructor, Shinan Hector Negron, has over 50 years of training and teaching experience.
He has instructed hundreds of individuals in practical self defense methods, and has trained many Junior and Senior National Judo Champions. Our facility is over 5,000 square feet, with a state of the art weight room including free weights, cardio machines, heavy bags, etc.

After diligent and dedicated study, he obtained his black belt in Ju-Jutsu and began teaching at the school, soon after becoming head Ju-Jutsu instructor. Soon after, he earned his black belt in Judo and became an active judo competitor. In 1981 he obtained the rank of Kaiden, and became Head Instructor of the Ryu (equivalent to 9th/10th Dan) in Miyama Ryu Ju-Jutsu.

I've been at this location for around twenty years as part of the Judo program. The school also teaches traditional Japanese jujutsu, and has a karate program for kids.
The instructors are competent, but they are also friendly and honest.
The place has two mats, a weight room, male and female bathrooms, and lockers. The main mat is constructed on a platform that has some give to it, which reduces the impact of falls.

Great place, great instructors, they are many years of experience and are very patient when working with a new learner. I do the Japanese Ju Jutsu and The instructors get straight to the point and also have great humor. They come from the original school in the Bx so you know they don’t play. Also they teach law enforcement which is a plus.
