I was referred to Martha at Frank Vernon by my fiance's aunt who has had many pieces made there including her daughter's engagement ring and wedding band. I had a ring that was made from my grandmother's engagement ring, a marquise cut diamond, surrounded by smaller round diamonds that had been part of her wedding band. The band was too big for hand and uncomfortable to wear. I wanted the separate the diamonds into 2 rings: a solitaire ring for the marquise diamond, and a band with the remaining diamonds that I could wear with my wedding band and engagement ring.

She showed me examples-- different chains, bails, crowns, options of adding diamonds and basically being able to make whatever I desire

Frank Vernon has long been one of the fairest and most helpful of diamond dealers. Hint: if you bring what you are willing to spend in cash and are very specific about what you want (including color, cut and clarity of the diamonds), FV's will very probably give you what you want. Non-chain jewelers like the liquidity of cash (which means they can buy more inventory as well as pay the bills) so cash is the way to go when buying diamonds and gold. Just plan ahead and you'll get a great deal (also - watch the price of gold in commodities markets and buy on the day it is down).

I highly recommend Frank Vernon! This is an excellent fine gem and jewelry retailer (at wholesale prices). They have pretty much anything you could be looking for, but have a particularly extensive selection of engagement ring/wedding band settings and stones.
