I hope the start back to school has been smooth and joyous. It's been a mixed bag in my house, be we're generally all grateful to be healthy and to have safe spaces to go. The transition from Summer to Autumn is a chaotic time and occasionally our bodies pay the. The purpose of an exercise training program is to increase efficiency and vitality.
We want to always be improving, not simply for the sake of it but because life requires it. Without movement there is death and if your training program doesn't supply adequate. Fitness is a concern of human effectiveness and efficiency rather than aesthetic and performance. I know the barrage of Facebook ads and Instagram posts contradicts this idea, and I'm not ignoring the benefit of aesthetic or performance goals, indeed extrinsic.

I've worked out with both Marannie and Alexis, but most often with Alexis. Both are excellent trainers who are so attuned to my goals, my abilities, and my progress. My workouts with Alexis start with careful warm-ups and myofascial release to prime my muscles and joints and then progress to dynamic strength training. I've been a long-time yoga practitioner, and my weekly workouts with Alexis have strengthened my core, improved my balance, and enhanced my overall strength so much that I notice a real difference in my ability and confidence in yoga classes as well as in daily life, with lifting

I have been working with NLTN Holistic Personal Training for several months now and all I can say is wow! I have always avoided traditional gyms - but this is is a league all its own! I feel like I am learning to move in ways I haven't since I was a kid! My trainer is always attentive and watching out that I am doing the workouts the right way- and I feel that this program is for lifelong fitness! Try it!

I trained at Elm City Coach for a year before I left New Haven. Marannie has gathered a wonderful community of movers, who are looking for a unique and engaging workout.

Marannie is always asking us to recognize how what we do in the gym transfers into what we do in the world. I went hiking this weekend and noticed how the one-legged squat and all the balance work we do transferred directly into that. But you could even say it’s given me the confidence to take on a hike with my husband that I might not have had without training at NLTN. It’s fostered more play in my life and the way I engage with the world. Certainly the playfulness of the exercises here transfers into more play in life.

Yesterday I hurt my left heel. It was swollen and I couldn’t put any pressure on it. I usually go to my Monday morning training at NLTN. I texted Marannie to tell her that I wouldn’t be there in the am. She promptly texted Alexis, who is my Monday morning trainer and Alexis texted me and told me that she would modify my program tomorrow so I could still train. Today I went to my training and Alexis explained to the class our program and modified every move that would put pressure on my heel so I could fully train. This is reason #23 why NLTN is the best! They take care of their clients! Thank

I've been training with Elm City Coach for a year and a half now. One of the best parts of working with Marannie and Lauren is the personal attention I've received. Each participant has a specific, personalized workout program based on their own goals and needs. They have a deep understanding of the body and natural movement that guides their approach. They have helped me work past some old injuries and develop strength that I never knew I could have. I also really enjoy the sense of community that we have in our classes. I highly recommend Elm City Coach- they are the best!

I have been apart of the Elm City Coach community for 5 months now, and it was one of the best choices I've made for myself. Getting ready for my wedding in 2017 seemed a daunting task, but with the trainer's help and the customization of a tailored fitness plan getting healthy seems like a realistic goal now. The work out sessions are different from anything I've ever had experience with. I look forward to the sessions, because there is a variety in them and the environment is so encouraging. There is zero intimidation factor unlike other gyms and exercise programs. Literally any one at any level

Working with Marannie has been wonderful. She is a thinking person's fitness coach: she develops a program specifically for you and then constantly observes, gives feedback, adjusts, and moves you forward. She really listens to what your goals are--whether you're looking to recover from an injury, lose weight, gain strength, or just feel better--and works with the realities of your life to help you achieve them. I only wish I had started working with her sooner!

I have met with Marannie of Elm City Coach twice weekly for over four years. During that time I have substantially improved strength, endurance and flexibility. I trained for and completed the Smilow Closer to Free ride twice, and am now planning a trek in Nepal. Marannie keeps me on task and is committed to getting this 75 year old body to places it could not otherwise dream of going and at all times has her pulse on my overall well being. She is a conscientious and motivating personal trainer.
