We purchased a new home and retained Dan’s services. He was knowledgeable, professional and receptive from the very beginning. He supplied his credentials for the builder prior to the inspection as they requested. Dan and Austin were early and did a great job of pointing out things that needed to be corrected before closing on our home. The 67 page report contained pictures and helpful informative details on maintaining the home as well. Don’t think that just because you are building a new home that you do not need an inspection.

Dan was very responsive to a quick inspection schedule. His web site showed an example report that looked great and sold me on his company. Not only was the report thorough and detailed but super quick as I had the report the next day when others were going to take 3-4 days. This is long overdue but I had a fantastic experience with InSight Home Inspections, and particularly with Christopher Baldwin. I let him know I was a first time buyer and asked if I could shadow his inspection, which he welcomed. Not only was the final report very comprehensive and detailed with extra helpful information, but Chris offered lots of extra insight and helpful knowledge during the process that just doesn't show up in reports. I am a retired nurse and I am doing major downsizing which includes selling my home and moving to a mobile home an hour south to be closer to family. My Mobile Home Agent recommended Daniel Horton to do an inspection on this single wide. The interior was new, clean and white and I even vacillated on getting an inspection. In the process of buying a new house and we hired InSight/Dan to do the inspection. We decided to do this independent of the builder as we wanted a third party review. Dan was prompt, responsive, and thorough. The report came to us the same day. We were able to use that report to ask the builder to make additional fixes that were missed through the walk through. Sadly I have to update this review. I've lived in my current home for a little over a year now. I've learned that the home (like most Florida homes) has a stucco issue. Basically the side of my house is showing stain/streaks of water damage due to cracks in the stucco. These cracks were present during my housing inspection (I went back and reviewed the photos). In addition, these cracks cause water to get into the outlets of the interior wall of the kitchen causing the outlets to shutdown 3-4 times a year since I moved in (happened first time about 4 months after moving in). Trying to buy a house in Tampa from out of State was super stressful till we found Dan and InSight Home Inspection. So many worries about the safety and integrity of the house while moving in with two small children. Dan went above and beyond to make sure every little corner and crevice has been fully inspected . The inspection that Dan provided was exceptionally detailed. He was very professional, friendly, and prompt in his communications. Being a first time home buyer, I wasn't sure exactly what to look for. Luckily, Dan picked up on multiple issues that I overlooked. The report not only included pictures of what was wrong, but reasons why they needed to be corrected and the urgency of each issue. As far as price goes, AMAZING VALUE! I'm glad Dan wore a mask. I felt pretty safe. Bummer that the roof is so old, but that was the only big thing he found. I'm glad he explained the big points at the end, and the report he sent was very thorough. We learned that insurance companies wanted a four-point inspection, which he provided. The VA also asks for a wind inspection, which was also included. Price was fair and Dan took his time.

Wind Mitigation Included too?! WOW! I don't always leave reviews, but I really feel compelled to do so! Everything went perfect from the start. I spoke to Dan explaining that I was purchasing a new home and that I didn't need a full on inspection. I only wanted the main/big components checked out. Dan gave me an excellent price, and explained that he also included a wind mitigation. I shopped around with other inspectors and everyone else already was charging a lot more and they didn't include a wind mitigation (explained further down).

He's very thorough and can go over everything with you as he's doing it. Seems very patient and not rushed which is important when you're thinking of investing a lot of money on a property.
