Molds produce microscopic spores to reproduce and get from place to place. Mold spores waft through the air, indoors and out, continually. When mold spores land on an area with a high enough moisture content, they may begin growing. Molds will grow on any organic material ie. When excessive moisture levels or water accumulates indoors, mold growth will occur, particularly if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or un-addressed.
Radon is a carcinogenic gas that is hazardous to inhale. Build-up of radon in homes is a health concern and many lung cancer cases are attributed to radon exposure each year. About 12% of lung cancers and more than 20,000 Americans die of radon-related lung cancer each year. Dr. Carmona, the Nation's Chief Physician urged Americans to test their homes to find out how much radon they might be breathing.
Almost no home is going to be perfect (especially a new or recently built home). Inspectors usually will discover some issues needing attention or that the buyer and seller should be aware of. Jim is EXTREMELY thorough both in his inspections AND in his reports. His report was beautifully itemized, coded, and pictured so that it was easy to read and understand. Our report revealed details that we then further investigated; we would have ended up paying for some expensive repairs and purchases had we bought the house he inspected: these included re-roofing and buying new heating and cooling units. We figure his report helped save us at least $40,000. We did not buy the house he inspected, and before buying another place we would definitely use him to inspect for us again. We highly recommend

Jim has inspected the last 2 homes we have purchased. This time it was a fixer upper and his thorough report prepared us for what we would need to address once we bought the home. We have completely gutted the home and haven't been surprised by anything-- it was all in the report he gave us. He also went under the house when contractors had told us the crawl space wasn't accessible-- he was committed to even the ugly parts of the job.

This was a pre-purchase whole house and Radon inspection we requested from Perfection Inspection. I was impressed with Jim Allhiser's web site and use of thermal imaging/Infrared system.
