Since the pandemic (Coronavirus/COVID-19) started this has become my go to take-out restaurant! By far my favorite Italian restaurant! (And I used to live in Boston!). Anyone living in the North Suburbs should go. Everything has been absolutely amazing. Have had and can't say enough about:
Pasta Fagioli, Wild Mushroom & Fontina Cheese Drum, Homemade Fried Ravioli (absolute favorite), Spaghetti Carbonara, Pasta Drum with Meatballs (another favorite), both the Chicken & Eggplant Parmigiana, both the Veal & Chicken Saltinbocca & finally the Stuffed Chicken Colosseum (my favorite

Do not order from this restaurant! First off, they constantly have missing items from their orders. We have ordered several times and items were missing all but one time. We ordered from there tonight and we were missing items. When i called the restaurant to explain the girl answering the phone was rude and acucused me of lying. When i told her to look at the receipt from their system, she put the owner on the phone. He admitted to the missing items but was incredibly rude instead of simply apologizing. Lastly, their menu online and on Grubhub is a mess, the descriptions of what is in

You can not beat the food. Delicious. More importantly is the the staff. Max, the chef, greets every table to check on you and see how the food was. The waitstaff, unbelievable. I came in with a patron that was more than difficult.
They did not judge. They showed only compassion. Support local business. Massimo's is the best.

I figured I couldn't go wrong with a casual Italian restaurant outside of downtown Wakefield. Unfortunately, I was quite underwhelmed. Maybe I'll have a change of heart on a second go-around, especially considering everyone else has constant praise for this place.
The veal parm is usually a perfect meal. Mine here was lukewarm in temperature, in addition to watery sauce and dry veal. The old fashioned decor is comforting, but not soaking in heat while dining would have been ideal.

I really wanted this restaurant to be a hidden gem off of Main Street, but unfortunately it wasn't. I ordered takeout on Yelp and the menu sounded so good with words like homemade, jumbo, and fresh. However, the fried ravioli may be homemade but tasted frozen, jumbo shrimp in the Scampi were not jumbo, and nothing really seemed fresh. The linguini was way overcooked and mushy, the Chicken Saltinbocca was good but definitely not fresh, it was the same for the bread. Like some of the other reviewers, I didn't find them very friendly either, not rude by any means, just not friendly. I really

We came here when the indoor dining first opened and the experience was terrible. Although the door has a sign that states masks are required, no one was wearing a mask when we got inside, not even our waitress! The waitress came by to take our order maskless and proceeded to come back a few times with no mask. She did wear one very briefly before taking it off again.
The food was ok but not worth getting Covid over. I wouldn't recommend this place if you take Covid seriously and I won't be returning.

Saw Massimo's on Yelp and finally thought we would give it a try.
It is right off main St (Rt 129) in Wakefield. There is a very small (and I mean small) parking area, which were lucky to get a parking space in, otherwise I guess you have to find something on the street.
We walked in and there is a couple steps down to the counter where I assume someone would welcome you in. There was a waitress there and I said hello. She said "two?" and I said yes. No hello, no greeting with a smile, just "two?".
So we were seated in the back room which was also down a few steps. I

We were first time patrons. The over all cleanliness was poor. It smelled when you first walked in, and it felt dirty. Although they have a good sauce, in general the food was disappointing. The fish dish smelled so fishy it had to be sent back, and three of the chicken dishes were barely eaten because the chicken tasted funny. The gnocchi dish was good. As I said, they do have a good sauce.

Food: Very good. Old-world Italian comfort staples....Parmesan, Marsala, scallopini, etc.
Service: OK. Friendly (if not completely attentive) servers, the owner will usually make an appearance at your table to say hello.
Ambiance: or lack thereof.....not so good. You feel like you're in an old lady's dining room. And as mentioned here prior, a strange, musty smell...like you're sitting in a basement. Weird.

Incredible old school Italian food done to perfection. They have one of the very best Chopping la seafood I've had in years. Please see the attached pictures. You can n get it done with scampi, marinara, or even fradiavolo sauce. The homemade desserts are simply incredible. Especially their ricotta cake or pistachio cream cake. Woohoo Dance on your pallet. Small, not a fancy place, but boy, the food is fantastic and so is the service and very reasonable pricing for large, quality portions.

My family and I have been a fan of Max's cooking going back to his location in Chelsea. I always order the shrimp scampi appetizer he uses fresh herbs, lemon juice with fresh lemon slices it's so good I could drink the sauce. My go to dishes are his veal saltimboca and ziti, chicken and broccoli with garlic of course.
