The looks are deceiving. I understand it’s a historical building but still not worth it. Parts of the hotel were under construction and not worth the price you pay. It’s a nice place to take photos maybe grab a drink and that’s about it. I would rather be at a chain hotel north of this current hotel. “Restaurant” staff/ Nick were great!

The Galvez is beautiful and is being renovated with attention to detail. The bar and pool is great!
We traditionally eat Christmas brunch here. I enjoy it, though they do not have gluten free options for the pasta station or desserts, by which I was disappointed.
Otherwise, I highly recommend staying here if you're in Galveston!

When I booked online, it showed nothing about the construction. I was there for business. I asked if there was somewhere quiet that I could work. The manager informed me that there was but I would need to rent it for 500.00 + 22% sales tax. I called my booking agency and they said that they would contact management to try to get me into a different hotel, but they never returned the booking agency's email or call. I was stuck in this awful place for 3 days. Our room had NO PHONE, NO BIBLE, and NO COFFEE MAKER. It smelled like death in our room, I had to spray my perfume just to stand it. The ceiling

Beautiful, expensive hotel . Parking should have been included. 2 drinks at the bar , $29. Our room was tiny and no microwave or refrigerator. It looks classy and right on the water . We are glad we stayed at least once but will not re-visit.

Under new management, customer service, especially Brooke, rude. Charged $16.38 a day for parking in back in an unsecured lot. Room is dingy and the carpet fusty…They are remodeling, and they shouldn’t charge… such high prices until they are done…noisy machinery outside all day. Food in restaurant not good, and there is no way to heat water in the room for tea or coffee.

Named "Queen of the Gulf " for a reason. So much beauty and elegance in one place. Definitely built to stand the test of time. The staff was helpful and friendly from our arrival until our departure.

EXCELLENT! Incredible service & truly great quality brunch. We celebrated my mother's birthday here for brunch. The food was of great quality. Selection is phenomenal! Highly recommend doing this whether you're visiting the island and/or if you live here in the island. We're already planning on doing this again in December. Wonderful service! Beautiful space.

The check in was good and the people working here are very nice. Jan was really helpful!! We had dinner at the hotel and the food was great.. on paper but alas not in really. We tried again at breakfast , but that was barely warm overcooked and biscuits like hockey pucks. Our waiter at breakfast was wonderful and from Connecticut! Cool! I tried a spa appointment, but that's not possible via phone and in person, the girl with a very tight bun was far from pleasant, she can probably use a massage. I won't be going there again. So this hotel is like communism, great on paper but a disappointing and

Had better stay at an Econolodge. Dingy room, lights in bathroom were rusted, hairdryer rusted. Decor awful. Hallway drab. But the staff was nice. And the outside of hotel beautiful.

I would recommend staying here after renovations are completed or off season. In October is the perfect time not a lot of children running around, very relaxing atmosphere with history and ambiance. The heated… pool was nice for October mornings. The breakfast buffet was very good, waffles were delicious. The staff was nice and polite, always running to open doors for guests. Only downside was I never heard from the check in that the hotel was haunted or had ghost tours on Thursday & Fridays only so to my disappointment I was put on the fifth floor and told nothing about it and then

The stay at your hotel was a terrible experience. Thanks to your hotel and staff a big part of my vacation was ruined.
The room smelled like mold and I couldn't even open a widow to air it out. The rooms are tiny and the entire hotel seems to be help together with bandaids.
I let all that go.
Then, While I was on the beach with my 5 month old, my… wife came inside with our 5 year old to get us lunch. The restraunt told her they wouldn't serve her till 4. But she could do room service. She didn't want to go upstairs and wait for room services while I sat on the beach with our baby. They said

Decided to have a full-on spa day for our 20th wedding anniversary. I have not visited this spa before and my husband has only had pedicures, and just a few at that. From the time you enter this beautiful historic property, you feel how special it is. The grounds and facility are beautiful and the staff is all very friendly and accommodating.
We arrived 30 min prior to our scheduled time, as asked, and were met with a friendly attendant that gave us our paperwork to fill out. We were then escorted to the locker/shower rooms to change into our robes. Lockers can be reset with your own four-

I loved my massage experience at the Galvez. The front desk was super friendly! My favorite part was the relaxation room...pure bliss in a silent, cold room as you're nestled in a cushy robe! I enjoyed my complimentary glass of lavender champagne as well. I will echo the spa manager complaint...not super kind as she shuffled me from the locker room to the relaxation room. The massage itself was fine, I liked that the treatment table was heated, relaxing! I also had a blow out done at the salon...which was ok!

The management was incredibly rude! The treatments were amazing but the management stresses you out so badly after the massage that the stress came immediately back !

Relaxation room - no talking allowed by our party but okay for others in the lounge to be noisy - totally unacceptable- being threatened to get kicked out was a horrible experience

You get two "free" glasses of champagne and the staff doesn't want to give even those to you.

We will find a new place to spend our money!!

Although my stay at the hotel was a total disappointment, the spa experience was a different story. The service and massage was better than I expected. It was truly relaxing. My advice is do not stay at the hotel but come to experience the spa service.

I recently got a pedicure at the spa. It was $65 for a special pomegranate and coconut pedicure. The pedicure was good, but no better than I usually get for less at my local salon. The polish was applied carefully, I thought, but when I later went outside by the pool I realized that some of the nails were smudged and foggy looking. I think this is because the technician applied QuickDry spray at the end. When I went back inside and asked if they could be re-painted, the receptionist called over a women who appeared to be a manager. She argued with me and said that I must have gone to the

I wish I could give them more than 2 stars as the place is gorgeous. I planned a last minute spring break trip with my daughter. As soon as we arrived, we went to the spa to see about getting pedicures and scheduling massages for the next day. Nothing for that day, the next day there were scattered appointments, nothing after early afternoon. They even checked on the day we were leaving, nothing in the morning, only afternoon when we would be gone. We had a $400 gift card to spend and left unable to use it. They have signs everywhere advertising the spa...with the key word "appointment
