5 Point Acupuncture
What do you get when you combine a powerful ancient healing technique with leading edge medical science? Precise solutions for every malady-from complex internal dysfunctions to chronic musculoskeletal pain. Such are the hybrid capabilities of NYC acupuncturist Ryan Smith. As with all acupuncturists, they approach healing holistically, viewing pain and discomfort not as problems in and of themselves-but as symptoms of an imbalanced qi.

Yet not all acupuncture is created equally. Ryan's East-meets-West training, broad seasoning, and natural intuition make them unusually effective. Diagnose your entire condition, rather than presuming that your known symptoms tell the "whole story." This gets to the root of your malady-not just the surface.
Services
Here at 5 Point Acupuncture, we give all new patients a 75-90 minute diagnostic evaluation. The sheer thoroughness of this session is a potent benefit to you. It doesn't matter whether you've come to us for a mild sore throat or to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy: to us, it's our duty-and our pleasure-to investigate everything.
When Ryan was little, his Nana (great grandmother) had a stroke, and moved in with his family as she recovered. Back then, he became curious about the body. He wondered how it malfunctions, and how it gets back to health. In his 20s, Ryan was an endurance athlete. He thought a lot about fueling with food, banking rest and sleep, and training in a performance-maximizing way.
Is acupuncture safe for children? Absolutely. Children may even respond faster to treatment compared to adults. For children afraid of needles, the acupuncture points may be messaged-a technique called acupressure. Does acupuncture hurt? How does it feel? The needles used in acupuncture are extremely thin-about the width of a human hair, or less.
A cancer diagnosis brings a witch's brew of aftereffects caused by chemotherapy, radiation and surgery: pain, anxiety, fatigue, nausea, insomnia, diarrhea or constipation, and shortness of breath. At 5 Point Acupuncture, our cancer patients experience documented relief from their worst symptoms and side effects.
A great way to boost efficiency and relieve workplace tension, acupuncture reduces stress, eases anxiety, improves energy and concentration, and supercharges the immune system. As part of a larger wellness program, acupuncture helps employees prevent illness, take fewer sick days, and use the workday constructively.

I’ve been receiving dry needling / trigger point acupuncture for years when I have tight muscles or a pinch / spasm in my neck. Ryan and Tim have both done great work when I’ve come to them in pain.

Ryan and Tim are both amazing! Kind, concerned and really know what they are doing. They never manage to hurt you either, which is an added bonus when it comes to acupuncture!

Tim is the best. He listens to your concerns and discusses the treatment prior and keeps checking in throughout the session. The end result is definite improvement with suggestions of how to work on the issues away from the office. I will always go to Tim when I need accupuncture.

Went on my friend's recommendation for acupuncture for the first time. The whole experience was positive. Tim Bish asked lots of questions and took all the anxiety out of it. I think it will have long term effect on my lower back pain and will be going back.

I see both Ryan and Tim for issues ranging from menstrual cramps, insomnia, deep muscle knots, and more. This therapy is highly affective. Their approach is very gentle and they are deeply compassionate.
