After the American Revolution, Colonel Samuel Davidson and his family received a land grant from the state of North Carolina to settle in the Swannanoa Valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This early settlement in 1785 paved the way for the future of what would become the city of Asheville. Don’t stay in downtown Asheville hotels on the weekends - they let people race up and down streets late at night and keep hotel guests up all night. Unacceptable!

I went to Visit Asheville with a group of college students last week. All of the employees that we interacted with were extremely kind and knowledgeable. We were to get to know more about what Visit Asheville does and how they serve their community effectively. The office space was very nice and modern, and had a very welcoming atmosphere. I recommend visiting their office if you want to learn more about he history of Asheville and how they run their outstanding travel and tourism network!
