It's a basic hotel with high prices. We did not receive things like slippers that were mentioned. We stayed for three nights and not once did they service the room. Our room was facing the alley and the trash from the hotel was taken out at 11:30pm, which would wake us up. The only interesting thing about the hotel is its history as a department store. I would most likely choose a different hotel next time.

We stayed in The Haywood on Christmas for a couples getaway. We love the location of the hotel. The room was very spacious with a ton of windows and a great view. We had a housekeeping issue but it was resolved graciously. Overall this was a great experience.

Great location, but for $600 a night, the phones should work so that you can call for your car, otherwise you have to go all the way to the front desk 20 minutes ahead of the time you need to leave to ask for your car, the TV in the bathroom should work and not require a channel scan which can’t be done because the menu button doesn’t work on the remote, and they probably shouldn’t include a QR code for “Guest Room Service” from Isa’s since Isa’s doesn’t actually do room service, it’s quite misleading. King Superior Suite room doesn’t have an actual thermostat with a degree

I chose to splurge on the hotel for a night. The photos online are from afar to miss the details to show how the rooms are dated. The rooms are large which is a bonus, but the view was lacking, and the walls are paper thin.
Would I stay here again? Probably, but would look for other places first.
I wish I'd chosen Cambria Suites for my lone stay as I met up w my friend the following day to stay there. What a difference for about the same price (only missing an included breakfast).

Reserved large suites 3 weeks in advance and paid a deposit to hold that was over $1000. When we arrived, they had given the rooms to someone else and downgraded us to lesser rooms. Hotel is old and not everything works, especially in the bathroom. Also..a "luxury" hotel in a downtown area that has NO INTERNET!! Couldn't believe it. It wasn't just down for the day, it didn't work except for a few odd spots in the lobby. Did NOT work in the rooms...for ANY of the guests. Not a nice, comfortable hotel .

This hotel has everything you could want in the downtown Asheville area, of course being so close to many restaurants and shops. The historic building completes the vibe of comfort and the charm of the past. The complimentary breakfast at Isa's French Bistro is beyond exceptional. The rooms are mostly suites with so much room for relaxation. Comfy robes & slippers, champagne upon arrival, and bottles of water with granola bars to get you on the road when you leave were just a few of the extra touches that make this property very special. I look forward to our next visit and we will definitely stay

Want to give them negative stars.

Booked a king suite, got confirmation 48 prior
To arrival, when we check in, they tell they are over booked and got us standard double Queen room at a lesser hotel, but they are "doing us a favor " by giving us their rate...even though we went from a suite to a much smaller room.

Worst hotel experience of my life. Would never recommend them to anyone

This is the place to stay if you are coming to tour the heart of Asheville! As soon as you walk out of the hotel, you are within steps of hundreds of shops, restaurants and art galleries! We loved it, and will be back again!
Oh yeah, the complimentary breakfast was one of the best I have ever had!

Chapter 2. My room has not been made up in two days. You must “ request make-up.” I’ve put the placard out twice. No result. So for $400+ per night my room has not had maid-service. Can someone offer calligraphy to invite a room-cleaning here. I didn’t think it could get worse.

Stayed here for a week and really got to know the ins and outs of Haywood. It didn't leave the best impression, but wasn't a bad stay overall.

Pros:
-Location is fantastic! Literally in the heart of downtown and couldn't be more central to all the shops and restaurants
-Breakfast at the bistro is delicious!!
-Large room size; we had more than enough space for the 2 of us in the bedroom, sitting area, bathroom, etc.
-Shower had great water pressure and multiple heads, I actually looked forward to showering in the hotel at the end of the day
-Room and lobby were generally clean;

Old, carpets were stained, bathroom terribly maintained, toilet overflowed

Dirty, bathroom walls, bedroom walls were dirty

Bedskirt was filthy

Mold in shower

Tv volume didn't work

Room was very cold and we received a space heater

We were obviously being punished for using 3rd party booking and given the vintage area

Worst of all, nobody cared at the front desk. We left a day early, couldn't stay another night

Gym is disgusting, obviously not being cleaned.

$400 + a night gets you dust, rust, mold and toilet stains.

This is my 12th trip to Asheville, I will never stay here

***Main Takeaway*** - confirm that you are booking a room in the 'new section' of the hotel. And if you are good with the 'historic' rooms, please be aware that historic might mean ill-maintained.

We were disappointed with our stay at the Haywood. We were two couples in different rooms with dramatically different experiences - paying a mere $10 difference in room rate. The other couple stayed in the 'new section' of the hotel and the room was contemporary, clean, well-decorated and very spacious. Our room was in the 'historic' part of the hotel and was

Stayed here recently and left unimpressed. Let's start with the good-the location is as central as it gets and the room (suite) was huge. The hotel was fairly quiet for the most part. The room was up to standard in terms of cleanliness.

Otherwise, it's all bad news. The lobby had an off putting smell to it and the room furnishings felt cheap and generic for a relatively expensive hotel. I did not find the bed comfortable-it also felt cheap. The worst thing was the supposedly included breakfast from 7-10:30, while we were told reservations were recommended upon checkin, we were never

It's not often I give a hotel 5 stars, but Haywood park earns it.

The hotel is terrific. I only stay here when I come to Asheville. The rooms are very nice. The bathrooms are marble and nicely finished, and the beds are very comfortable. The staff are are super friendly and on top of everything. I have stayed here many times and have never had one complaint.

One other aspect is the location. They are in the center of downtown. A perfect location to visit your favorite shops, pubs, music venues, or restaurants. If you are here for a meeting or convention it is also perfect, as it is a

The hotel was at a good location, but if you don't get the newer rooms you will be disappointed!! We stayed in an old musty, moldy, old room. (Did I mention old?)The bed was comfortable but other than that I hated it!! The toilet is so low & everything is just OLD. Not what we expected.
Breakfast was included that was only positive
The valet was a pain only 1 person so we always had to wait. The elevators needed to be vacuumed but were not touched.
Hope this helps!

We have so enjoyed our stay here & would definitely recommend it & also stay here again. The staff is extremely kind, helpful, & attentive. We were fortunate enough to have been upgraded to a suite. Between the champagne offering at check-in to the nightly turn down service with a chocolate treat, I feel like a movie star! The hotel is also centrally located to shopping & restaurants. We walked to 6 breweries. One day we drove to Biltmore which was an easy, 10 minute drive. It has been such a relaxing & enjoyable stay. Your kindness does not go unnoticed nor wasted on us. Thank

Run don't walk away from this hotel. Our first room had a leaky ceiling and had mold. Front desk beyond rude and abrupt. This person should never be in the customer service business. Moved to as other room to open curtains and find a cement wall 3 feet away
Room has not been updated since the 1980. Musty dirty carpet and rust in bathroom. Should be rated a 2 star hotel. Stay away

We stayed at the Haywood Park Hotel and we were really looking forward to a unique/ different experience. While it was definitely different, it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience. The hotel is much more antiquated than pictures suggest. The man at the front desk was far less than hospitable. He took over 20 minutes to check us in (begrudgingly), made several mistakes in running our card (made no apologies), and generally seemed as though he would rather be doing anything else in the world than be bothered with our questions. The breakfast in the morning felt like something you would receive

Seriously y'all. The most comfortable bed ever! It was a real problem bc I just wanted to stay in bed all day. The feather pillows were so comfortable that I asked if I could buy one at checkout.

The rooms are HUGE and we never felt like we were on top of each other getting ready in the morning. We were definitely spoiled by the nightly chocolates left on our bed every night. The champagne at check-in and the going away bag at check-out was the cherry on top.

The hotel is located in the middle of everything so we were able to walk to dinner every night without having to worry about parking

Why 4 stars? Because my stay was most certainly a pleasant one.

--- --- ---

I've stayed in a few hotels in Asheville at this point, and I'll admit that this was the least modernized one. Was anything necessarily wrong with it? Nope. Just a bit older than places like the Aloft and Indigo. If I had to choose where to stay between those three for my next visit, I'd go with one of the newer buildings, but I did enjoy Haywood Park.

The one thing that was odd - one of the sinks in the bathroom spat out hot water, regardless of what you had it set to. This made teeth brushing

First of all, I will say, I've never stayed here.
I tried.
Nobody answers the phone.
I've left messages and no call backs.
I've actually spoken to one person one time and they said they couldn't help me because the 'system was updating' and they would call me back. 5 days later and about 4 phone calls to the hotel.. still nothing.. no answers, no returned calls.
On the ONE time I did speak with someone at the front desk I asked about a AAA rate.. they said they couldn't give me the rate until I checked OUT.

So... you don't answer
