Our first time and was not disappointed. Wonderful food and great service. We are definitely coming back Ina regular basis. The seafood gumbo was great, Cajun Pasta is exceptional and don't miss the Cajun egg rolls for appetizers.

My sister and I drove from San Antonio to enjoy the great food here. The service is wonderful and so is the food. Fantastic po boys and gumbo.

The long drive from San Antonio is worth it!

We asked for brown gravey and they served us "Monkey Gravey" we took that offensively due to our grand children being people of color. All we wanted was biscuit gravey, very simple and very common. We complained to owner and she blew us off and insisted it would stay "Monkey". Never stepped foot in that place again.

First time here..upon arrival Waitress was very polite!! Ordered Fish and Shrimp Combo which was very disappointing they brought out 4 pieces of catfish nuggets and said they were strips LOL ... Both chicken and seafood gumbo had no taste ..lack of seasoning! Red beans and dirty rice tasted like they came from a box! One STAR for the Waitress! First and last time for me!

We've been here 3 times in 4 weeks. Excellent food each time and still so many more dishes to try. The bread pudding is one of my favorite desserts!

The red beans and rice are amazing! The 5 piece catfish mean is disappointing. There are 5 tiny pieces of catfish...yes it's 5 pieces but it was supposed to be a catfish basket not nuggets...I'm upset as I was looking forward to the catfish part. Everything else is amazing!

Never been to New Orleans, but I wanna go one day just to eat. Been living in the area temporarily for about 8 months for work. Keep passing by this place everyday. Finally got a chance to try it. Absolutely amazing. I had the seafood gumbo and the stuffed red fish. Both were really great. I can early so was not packed, but according to Alina the super nice friendly and helpful waitress the are busy at lunch and evenings 6-9. Last thing my entree was free cuz I came on Veterans Day.

We went exploring in the Elgin/Manor area and have passed this restaurant a few times. It's a small place but spacious on the inside decorated with New Orleans-based items. They had the Texas Tech and OU game playing and we had the restaurant to ourselves.

I had to order the Seafood Gumbo just based on the restaurant's name and my date had the Maque Choux and a Shrimp Po Boy. Maque Choux is something I haven't had before but it was an enjoyable side. I was really excited seeing their menu because they had a lot of Louisiana-inspired food. I will be going back to try. Speaking on

We recently moved to town and were looking for some good places to eat and we found this little gem. I have been to NOLA a few times and this place reminded me of that so much.

The alligator was great and came as a huge serving. Everything that we have ordered from there (3 or 4 times now) has been tasty and authentic. If you are in the area I highly suggest checking this place out.

We like this restaurant! We will always support local businesses. The vibe gives southern hospitality and intimate. The service is good along with the food. We will return because there are other meals we like to try. If you are in the Austin area and like southern cooking, try Maxine’s Gumbo House

I ordered the fish basket for the first time and was highly disappointed to see small nuggets. The Cajun rice was delicious. I previously bragged about this place to others due to my past experiences but this time is thumbs down. I took a picture to show that I wasted 13.99 on a plate for a 5 year. The 2 stars is for the rice .

My daughter & I visited on a weekday around 4pm. We were the only people their (we chose that time to avoid the after--work crowd). My daughter had sweet tea (good) and I had a glass of white wine (good). The liquor options are limited but I'm happy they still offer alcohol. For appetizers we had fried oysters & gator (both were ok). For entrees she ordered the chicken & sausage gumbo but my daughter returned it because we didn't like the taste (oily & bland), the waitress was SUPER nice & told my daughter to order something else. She then ordered the Bayou Pasta

Great food! Our waitress was kind. I had the Crawfish Étouffée. Tasty and simple. Appetizer's I ordered were the fried frog legs and fried alligator. Super tasty when it was dipped with tartar sauce. Glad I came out to enjoy some good southern food.

Simple and cozy atmosphere, good service. Great food.

We ate here yesterday for a business lunch and could not have been more satisfied with the food. The NOLA sampler plate was delicious and the three of us had a hard time determining what was the best part of the meal! I definitely think the gumbo was the best of the three. There are so many choices for quality Cajun food I can’t wait to try the next dish on the menu. The only suggestion I could think of is if there was a small bread type appetizer to have at the table while you wait for the food. Either way, well worth the wait!

This is a great Lunch spot. I love their Roast Beef poboy and fries. The bread is straight from New Orleans and totally makes the sandwich.

They are still doing Social distancing with the tables. The waitress is always very nice and even when she is really busy always takes care of her customers.

New to Austin and wanted to indulge in some Frog Legs. This was the closest place that was open when my desire hit. I called kind of late and they must've thought that I wasn't going to show up so the lady go took my order ended up closing up the register for the night. Lucky for me.

Nice crispy exterior without being overcooked inside. Mild seasoning in the batter but I was hoping for more spice. I'd go back.

Thought, with it cold and wet some gumbo! Looked at ratings and one came up of interest.

A farther drive than I expected outside Austin. If I'd have known it was that far in the rain??

Got there and missed it and there was a 290 Diner that was packed. Went around back and Maxines was next door with no cars. A bad omen.

Thought what the heck. Small place, very nice waitress named Carrie. Talked to her about her favorite meal and it was a stuffed redfish. Redfish can be good or poor, but I stuck my neck out and got only a cup of gumbo!

The gumbo was good, but the rue was a little off for

Found myself hungry in the city of Manor. Found this little jewel of a restaurant and upon my arrival found the parking lot was fairly full. Now there's another restaurant right next store so I can't say who all the cars belong too.

Inside there was quite a crowd for a Sunday afternoon. The menu has quite a variety of items to choose from. I found myself craving catfish.

Now you can't come to a place called "The Gumbo House", and not sample the gumbo. So I tried a cup of the Chicken & Sausage gumbo with Catfish Po-Boy.

I'll start with the Gumbo. I'm

Cute space and all, but the food is the real star here.
I started with a cup of gumbo that was rich, hearty, and absolutely delicious.
It was a rough choice because everything sounded great, but I ultimately went with the Muffaletta for my main dish.
First off, the sandwich is huge. Almost obscenely so (almost).
Secondly, it comes with house made fries (perfectly fried and seasoned) which are fantastic.
And finally, the taste. All the meats, condiments, and sauces on lightly toasted, fluffy bread, are a flavor explosion in each bite.
I'll definitely be back and highly recommend you check
