Mikado Ryotei

Came here for my first time last night and loved it! The food was AMAZING. The Fire Dragon roll is a must and the sashimi is super fresh.

Mikado is hands down my favorite local sushi restaurant. My boyfriend and I try to make it a point to support this business. Tonight our server was a joy and really made us feel special. The nigiri and fish collar that we ordered tonight was very tasty and fresh. Never had an issue with this business and their food and service is always the best. Thanks Mikado!

My wife and I stopped by for our anniversary and decided to steer away from the sushi/sashimi we usually get and decided to go hot for a change. For the appetizer, we had the fried crab puffs. They were fresh and crisp with more crab than cream cheese. Also, it was real crab. Although these are common appetizers, we found them very tasty. Our next foray was the Fried Soft Shell Crab. It was the best I've had in Austin. It was fresh, larger than most of the other offerings in town, and resplendent with sauteed onions and shallots. Just scrumptious. The fry job was awesome as well. Honestly such great sushi. The angel whisper is my favorite. We get it on Uber eats frequently and they always come through. Love this place so much.

The sushi was very high quality and the fish was very fresh. The rolls, nigiri & sashimi were incredible! Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall nice restaurant, good experience and highly recommended!

Such nice service, I usually get sushi and the tempura shrimp appetizer. Serving sizes are big, sushi is wonderful and the wait staff are always very friendly and fast, even on the nights they are understaffed. I love this place, the atmosphere is nice and a great casual place to enjoy a meal.

Mikado -- amazing, a class above! Ordered the 'miso sea bass' and a Crouching Tiger roll, miso, escolar nigiri (ish), had some sake -- all were a delight, and the service was great. It happened to be a relatively cold evening so we made a point to order some warmer items, the server noticed this and was very accommodating. Pricing is very fair especially considering the quality of the dishes. Happened to meet the owner and he was great, too. Thanks Mark. Will definitely recommend and be back!

Visiting from out of town. Was really good!!! The Wagu Nigiri was the best. The steak entrée was amazing. All the apps and other sushi rolls and nigiri were on point. If am in Austin again, I will for sure stop by again =).

Best sushi experience I've had in Austin. It was INCREDIBLE. The Deja Vu roll was delicious, we also got the Fiery Dragon and it was not only a spectacular show but the fish melted like butter in my mouth. Our server Nelson had fantastic recommendations and had an exceptional understanding of flavor. We are coming back to see Nelson because he was an absolute joy. Thank you!

If I had to choose between eating this again or fasting until the next day, I'd choose... walking into incoming traffic. We literally feel gross inside. It was that bad. And the sashimi pieces are not regulation size. They're tiny. I can count on one hand the number of times a place was so bad that I went on Yelp to talk about it. This will be one of those times.

I came here because it had four stars on yelp. You're all delusional. This is worse than grocery store sushi.

Incredibly thin cuts for sashimi and chirashi bowls. You can almost see through a slice. Nothing like the pics on Yelp. Very disappointing. Flavor was fine but the portions are very frugal.

They're very generous on the cut of sashimi Rice is also cooked & seasoned well Love the escolar & eel the most, salmon & blue fin tuna are pretty decent too Specialty rolls are delicious!! ps we ordered online to pick up, takeout boxes are convenient & nicely packed!

I love sushi and eat it all the time but I would personally recommend this place. The AC seemed to be out which caused the whole restaurant to be very humid and the table felt sticky. The sushi was subpair and the hot sake tasted odd. The servers were very nice.

My wife and I had amazing dinner here tonight. Our waiter was fantastic, so focused on what we wanted that he brought us food we hadn't ordered because, well, just because. And the sushi was all super fresh. This was maybe best tuna we have ever had, but honestly it was all great. I so often write reviews bc my expectations weren't met. This one is because they were exceeded. If you are in Austin you should eat here. Like tonight. It's great.

Delicious with great service! Their house salad has a diverse blend of greens and vegetables. We ordered many different rolls and all were delicious. The staff are attentive and friendly. They gave us complimentary miso soup!

This place is great! Tasty food and amazing customer service! Was in the area after a hair appointment and ordered just the crunchy roll to go. It was only $7 and beyond worth it!

Bottom line: the fish did not taste fresh.

I tried the rainbow roll, the angel's whisper, and the yellowtail scallion roll, and none of them tasted fresh. The rolls were also kinda small (in comparison to what you'd find at other places), so it felt extra bad. I usually don't like over-dipping my sushi in soy sauce, but I felt like I had to a little for the sushi here just because (once again) the fish did not taste fresh!

Honestly felt a little sick after forcing myself to finish everything (3 rolls for me usually is nothing). Can't recommend and won't be back.

Fish was rotten , smelly and inedible. Plate looked like it had fallen on the floor. Rolls were soggy and rice was gooey. Ordered spicy Susan and crouching tiger roll. Could not eat in fear of food poisoning. Highly dissatisfied in my order. Food quality of these rolls is unacceptable and a waste of my money

Sushi here was pretty good. I got a spicy tuna roll and a rock ‘n roll piece as well. At lunch the prices are reasonable at $13 for two rolls. If I eat here again, I’d get it to go as there was an unpleasant smell at the entrance. Also, we had to wait a good amount of time for our lunch and we were there before the lunch rush.

Great hidden gem for happy hour in Austin!

Came due to the good Yelp reviews&we loved it. Prices (and portions!) are great during happy hour. Sushi is always fresh and delicious! If you're looking for a drink, try the Lychee Sake. Its refreshing and light with floral fruity notes and pairs well with sushi.

Parking is a breeze (huge lot) & it's never crowded. Staff is always attentive and friendly. If you don't feel like waiting long lines for Uchi, Uchiko, Kome, or want something cheaper but still good quality, try this place.

Nice atmosphere and pleasant service. Reasonable prices for the most part. I thought the rainbow roll was quite good, but I wasn’t a fan of the salmon or firedragon rolls. I can’t pinpoint the exact fault in the salmon roll, but I just didn’t like its taste or texture. The firedragon roll seemed like it was bathed in maple syrup it was so sweet for me. I’m not a fan of super-sweet sushi.
