The Internet is full of wonderful information, along with some more questionable material. We have collected a few of our trusted links to help you in your search for the best information online for your pet. The premiere resource for information on fleas, ticks, worms, mites (oh my!) and all the parasites that can threaten our pets' (and our own!) health.
We provide regular exams, vaccinations, wellness bloodwork packages, microchip placement, nail trims, anal gland expression, and all the preventive care your pets need to live long, comfortable lives. We provide medical and surgical care for small animals, including routine spays and neuters as well as soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries.
This announcement comes after much consideration by the Elkwood Animal Hospital management team. Over the course of 2020 and early 2021, it has become increasingly difficult to staff Elkwood Animal Hospital. We always make an effort to deliver quality care to all our patients, and at this time, it has become clear that to stay open through the summer would require that we sacrifice that high standard of care.

Dr. Julia Gibson Beaver, D.V.M. grew up in Catlett, VA with her parents, Don Gibson and Dr. Lisa Gibson D.V.M. She attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate degree and majored in Agriculture and Applied Economics. She continued her career at Virginia Tech at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

Wanted to charge 350$ to neuter a cat, outrageous pricing on any office visit and any shots. Found someone else to neuter my cat for 60$ and was very surprised at there pricing being a vet themselves. Staff was nice and friendly at least, my review is entirely pricing based, it's not like it's a nice facility, old run down cramped building.

$$$ 😠We have a small dog who needs to be seen asap... When I called explaining my concerns as to the seriousness of the symptoms our young pup is showing, it was agreed that he should be seen as soon as possible, but that you were booked out about a week and there was absolutely nothing you could do.
So sorry, booked solid... However, IF we would pay an ADDITIONAL $95 dollars in addition to the office visit fee, THEN you could squeeze our pup in!

My husband took our dog Pepper there on June 15th to check out a severe spinal injury. When it was ultimately determined that her injuries were so severe that we had to have her put down, they let my husband have the full time processing everything with her and giving her the fullest, most love filled moments possible at the end of her life. This is not our regular vet but we had to use them in an emergency with a dog that needed to be put down and they were the only vet around who could take us on really short noice - and they did that by calling one of their vets to come in to help us.
So we ended up here, it was obviously a horrible situation but they could not have been more kind or compassionate - especially for strangers who because of geography were not going to become regular clients.
Just based on how they handled this situation would use them again in a second. Good people.

The communication leaves something to be desired.... Our appointment was at 10:20, after sitting in the room waiting for the Doctor an hour past our appointment time, and it’s no communication as to why the Vet was running late is totally unacceptable.... Being a small business owner if I was rude enough not to tell my clients that I’m running an hour behind?? Believe me, they would not be back. I’ve only been to this office and they have several, so I will go somewhere else next time.
