J.P. Graziano Grocery
If you are looking for a Chicago Italian grocery shop or are seeking lunch catering around the 60601 or 60602 zip code area, J.P Graziano is in your neighborhood. We are a fourth-generation family-owned and operated Italian grocery store. Located in Chicago's West Loop, we are the grocery shop with the most established presence and a reputation you can count on.

People come for subs, for antipasti trays, for our desserts, and to buy authentic Chicago-style Italian foods for their own pantry. Known locally for our imported Italian delicacies, we're also a popular choice for lunch for those who are nearby. Some will even come out of their way, craving the taste of our food.
Services
We cut the meats and cheeses for each sandwich only a few short seconds before we put the entire sandwich together and wrap it tightly in heavy butcher paper. We do not pre-slice the meats and cheeses and work off of stacks throughout the day. Cutting our meat and cheese fresh to order ensures each sandwich we sell is at the peak of freshness.
The history of the J.P. Graziano Grocery Company began with a young Sicilian from the seaside town of Bagheria named Vincenzo Graziano. In the early 1900s Vincenzo left Bagheria and set out for America, as a stowaway, pursuing the girl he had fallen for. Leaving his hiding spot in the engine room, Vincenzo unexpectedly met one of his uncles who is bound for New York.
Vincenzo Graziano came to Chicago penniless in 1905 and by 1933 had built a thriving business, the J.P Graziano Grocery Company, a business that his great-grandson operates to this day. His affection and commitment to his family was always evident and his sons, Alfredo and Paul, followed closely in his footsteps both as fathers and as businessmen.

Muffaletta was amazing. Bread is on point and olive salad is perfect. Other sandwiches look pretty tasty also.

I am embarrassed and appalled that I haven't reviewed JP Graziano yet. I've been going here for YEARS. ALERT! ATTENTION! STOP THE PRESSES!!! LINE UP! !!!

THE MR. G IS THE BEST SUB SANDWHICH IN CHICAGO, and I would CHALLENGE you to find a better one. Seriously, every time I come here I get a tingle in my body and it feels like Christmas morning. It's insanely good. The Grazianos are old school too - I absolutely love it. They treat you like family when you walk in there. I love everything about this place and I will continue to come here for years to come. YO - don't sleep

Absolutely the best sandwich I've ever had and always great service. This family owned business has been around for a long time and is truly a gem of Chicago, not just the neighborhood. Every ingredient in each sandwich I've had is of superior quality, super fresh, prepared to exacting quality standards and still offered at a very fair price. Their giardiniera is excellent as well. This is a must visit in Chicago imo...I go there practically every week.

This place gets a lot of hype but I thought it was just ok. Sandwich was pretty good but kind of expensive (list price was $12, but final total for two sandwiches was $32?). Set up inside is a bit disorganized while ordering but they are nice

My boyfriend and I stopped in to the late night window after a concert and it was perfect. The employees were friendly and caring. We planned on splitting a sandwich and without even asking, they cut our sandwich in half and packaged all of our condiments individually and securely. We live in Indiana, about a good 35 minute drive and even after arriving home our food was still hot. They really took care of us. Great food and great customer service. Will 100% return.

One of the best sandwich joints in the city. This place has been my go to for years. Their gardinera is delicious. I recommend getting a Cannoli for dessert, one of the beat in the area. Owned and operated by one of the nicest families in the business.

Ordered the Chicago Italian sub kit and it was so spicy that it was inedible. It was a waste of $100 and if this was advertised as hot I would categorize it as extra extra extra spicy. Unfortunately I have a second kit that I will never use because of the extreme heat. Me and my family are used to eating spicy food but this is beyond spicy and completely Inedible.

Amazing and delicious. The customer service is as if you walked into their home - so personal and familiar. I ordered the tuna - hold the bread and instead they put the mix on a bed of arugula. I am so happy to be eating healthy and now delicious food.

Ok WOW. The Mr. G sandwich is absolutely incredible. The pairing of the truffle mustard brings out the flavor of the salami. The freshness of the artichokes marries into the sandwich so well. 10/10. Will have a spot to visit every time I’m in Chicago now. Outstanding sandwich.

I love coming here for a quick lunch. I typically order online or over the phone so it's ready to pick up when I get there. If calling it's usually ready within 10-15 minutes. (The lady answering the phone is really nice so no need to be intimidated). When ordering online you can select a time for pickup and customize each sandwich to your heart's content.

The Porchetta is my "go-to" order. The lemon/caper aioli, generous amounts of arugula, and fresh ciabatta bread are a winning combination. There's something comforting about the ciabatta bread that I keep coming

Stopped by at 3pm on a Wednesday, no line so I was able to order takeout at the window right away and got the porchetta. Sandwich was ready in 9 minutes.

The porchetta:

Heavier that I expected! So you get a good amount for your money. The ciabatta, while delicious on its own, is too thick and can make chewing an effort and mute the flavors from the sauce and meat. Overall this particular sandwich was average, but I will be back to try more! And will update rating at the time if needed.

JP is a family staple for us! When we are in the mood for a good Italian sandwich we always know JP will not disappoint. The ingredients are always fresh, they is D'Amato's bread (YUMMMM), and their giardinera is so good you could probably bathe in it. (Not seriously, but you get what I mean!) My new personal favorite is now the Muffuletta and I sub out the mortadella and the ham for pepperoni and Turkey (it is MAGICAL!). Realistically everything on the menu is on point. Don't forget to grab a mini cheese Foccacia and a brownie. Get there IMMEDIATELY.

I mean, they’ve been in business FOREVER so that says something. My office and I order from here atleast once a week. It’s amazing. Always. Walk up window with amazing and receptive staff. I once had a picky client request some very intense “substitute” items for his salad and they even called me to help me find the best item on the menu for his requests. You can make any sandwich into a salad!!! That is amazing. Thanks guys!

Hands down the best sub sandwich I have had in Chicago. Very generous portion sizes and freshly sliced meats makes this a must try sandwich shop. If parking was not such a a hassle in west loop, then I would be here weekly.

Picked up some sandwiches during peak pandemic and ate them outside on a nearby bench. We got the famous Mr. G and porchetta sandwiches. The Mr. G has all sorts of different meats and was along the lines of a traditional Italian sub. The porchetta was piled high with shaved pork and arugula. The mayo they use is so good; this might be a deli with affordable sandwiches but you really do taste the difference in the quality ingredients they use. The ciabatta bread was also hearty, and really rounded out the sandwich well. We we were stuffed after eating.

If I lived in the area, I would be here all

Excellent spot for outstanding Italian sandwiches.
Many classic Italian sandwich options on awesome, crusty bread with fresh-sliced Italian deli meats. Multiple varieties of salami, prosciutto, capicola, mortadella - it's all here. Also perfect provolone cheese, delicious homemade dressings, and crisp, fresh vegetable toppings.
Other sandwiches are also available including roast beef and tuna.
Mostly a grab and go place but a few tables are available. Friendly service.
Easily one of the best places for sandwiches just about anywhere.

I'm disappointed in myself for not having completed this review before.

I found out about JP's from Barstool Dog Walk, a great locally based podcast.

The sandwiches here have always been amazing. I've had just about every one of them on the menu and they all have their own different taste.

I highly recommend the veggie, mr. G and the American. You can add or subtract items as you see fit, but I suggest adding the hot giardiniera.

An underrated item on the menu is the soup and focaccia. Regardless of the soup, it will always pairs well with the cheesy focaccia bread.

I've been trying to come try this place out for a while now, but they've seen to always run out of bread every time I tried. So my biggest tip is to order ahead and order ahead early, because they will run out! And don't let them tell you that it's going to take 30 minutes for your order to be complete, because I arrived in half the time and the order was ready for pick up!

We ordered their "spicy", "italian" and their "Mr. G" I'm a big Italian sub guy, but I didn't really care for neither the "Italian, nor their "spicy"
