Services
Walker, Inc. Funeral Home was founded in 1959 as a subsidiary of the Walker Family's funeral home located in Queens, which was founded circa 1900. The funeral home changed ownership from the Walker Family to the Baxter Family in 1987 as a result of the retirement of the Walker's from funeral service.
Meadowbrook Parkway South to 6E for Southern Parkway to Exit 24S for Merrick Avenue South. The Funeral home is at the 8th traffic light on the left. Jim is a life long Merrick resident and has worked at N. F. Walker, Inc. for over 50 years. Mr. Gavigan's start came with the Walker family. He continues to be a valuable asset as his tenure and community activities have garnered an understanding in many community issues. As an Army veteran he is always proud to assist with Veteran issues.
No matter if a death is sudden, or if it something that was a long time coming, the loss of a loved one makes us feel emotional and overwhelmed. No amount of preparation can fully prepare you for the loss of a loved one. When you are in a heightened emotional state, even the most basic decisions can seem staggering.

They provided amazing service, empathy, and kindness during an extremely difficult time. When it came time to choose a place for my brother's funeral, we were drawn back to Walker as our family was raised in Merrick. We cannot say enough about Mr. Baxter's professionalism. Our experience with the N.F. Walker Funeral Home in Merrick was excellent. The staff was very responsive to our needs. From the day we came in to make pre-arrangements through the viewing and funeral everything was taken care of with dignity and care. We were pleased with any selections we had to make such as the casket, burial clothes, prayer cards and acknowledgement cards. There weren't any surprises price-wise as everything was spelled out. They handled everything including arrangements with the church and cemetery. Every request was taken care of without hesitation. We were impressed with
