So I'm going on a limb and trying to be super generous here because I'm feeling extra nice (or maybe I'm just tired). Spent the weekend here against my better judgment despite all the reviews I had seen on here.

Unfortunately, that didn't deter me because a) they don't offer a refund and b) no way I was giving my money away for free. At $200 a night, they were the least expensive place in the Outer Banks that actually had vacancies (gee, I wonder why).

So I arrived and the smell was weird. Like Pinesol and mold... not entirely unbearable. At least they were trying. I

This was an atrocity. I was disgusted at this hotel with the uncleanliness and the rudeness of the staff. I would never recommend this establishment and wish that it could be condemned. It has to be violating some safety matters and when I addressed the concerns with the manager, all the response was "Well, you paid for the room and signed showing you agree to the charges." If anyone knows how to have a hotel inspected, please refer them to this hotel. It needs to be closed.

Agree with other reviewers about this dismal hotel. Don't think it has been updated since Elizabethan times!

Roach motel isn't even half of it. Rotting wood on bathroom door, carpet tacks poking through, ratted furniture with holes in cushions, no hot water, rusted out pool with dirty water, stains and cigarette burns in carpets in a non smoking room. Unless your renting a stripper to hide, keep driving.

This place is a moldy dump. I'm actually spending the night in my car due to the extreme mold in room 401. They have refused to change our room. Avoid this dump.

This was the worst hotel my husband and I have ever stayed. We booked last minute while traveling to Corolla. We have been coming to the Outer Banks for over 20 years and such an establishment was a disappointment for an unfair, steep price. At over 200$ for the night, we were met with a dirty, muggy room with outdated, dilapidated furniture. I did not feel comfortable in our room and do not recommend staying here with a price point like that. This hotel needs serious work if it wishes to keep up with the in-season rates of the Outer Banks/Manteo region.

Run, don't walk, away from this "inn."

When I was settling down to go to bed, I noticed the sheets were stained and dirty. My husband called the front desk to ask for more sheets. "For what?" was the reply.

"Uh...the sheets on the bed are dirty and we'd like clean ones," my husband explained.

"Ok. Come to the front desk and get some." *insert confused look by my husband and I*

After changing the sheets, I sat down on the edge of the bed and immediately got soaked. It wasn't just a stain on the sheets, but the MATTRESS WAS WET. After another

Had the absolute worst experience with this hotels customer service, on the phone. I made a reservation through an Internet site. The hotel was very upset that I made a reservation through a third-party vendor. There was a mixup on the dates . This hotel will not give your money back if there's any kind of mess up even if it's within minutes luckily for me hotel.com backs their website by giving me all the money that was stolen from me by Elizabeth inn the lady was very mean and not at all compassionate about the situation that happened I would never recommend staying somewhere that

Front Desk folks were very kind and helpful.
Room could have used some aesthetic updating, but mattress was comfortable and shower water pressure was good. All we really needed was a place to shower and sleep. I am used to staying in more updated places but the 'old', 'rustic' ambience was kind of a nice change. My biggest complaint were the pillows-bumpy, hard and uncomfortable. I usually bring my own, but I forgot it on this trip. I had neck pain the whole next day-my fault!
I would stay here again.

This hotel was probably really special in its day, but now it's very ordinary. If you decide to stay here, be sure you don't get a room near their health club/gym. Oh the thumping and bumping! It really wasn't a pleasant stay. I would suggest book another place.

We stayed here for only one night and I'm glad it was only that long. The staff we encountered was very helpful and friendly. The room however was awful. The nasty chlorine smell made us feel like we in an indoor pool area. The beds are the worst I've ever slept on and my back can testify to that. Wish we paid more for a better place but $150 a night is not really low budget.

My advice is look elsewhere.

These guys need to do some work. Our room was gross. The floors were sticky, putty on doors, exposed wall receptacles, no fire retardant/ sprinkler system. Little to no water pressure from the sink. Our bathroom was smaller than my cubicle at work. When a hotel has the terms of your stay in a poster behind the front desk, something has to be up. It was overpriced for what we got. I think this establishment needs to be shutdown. We were wore out, so we slept on top of the covers in our clothes and left as soon as the sun came up. I wouldn't recommend this place to a crack head.

I have seen this building for years during
my many trips to Manteo, NC.

It always looked appropriately Tudor and period ... at 30mph.

But thinking I might stay there someday, I drove into the parking areas and around the property.

RATS!! There was a rat infestation on the property.

A rat colony so close to some rooms that it made me feel sick. I mean, some of these things were as large as cats and fat as small dogs.

It was DISGUSTING and HORRIBLE!

I got out of there forever.

I will never stay there. If you have children, as a fellow-parent I suggest you not stay there either.

Work had me in Manteo for a few days about a mile from this hotel, so I chose to stay here instead of drive 15 minutes to the oceanside KDH hotels.

My room had plenty of space, and everything was clean and neat, microfridge and free wifi worked well, and good selection of tv station on the HDTV.

The staff at the front desk were pleasant with me. They did promptly email me my guest folio upon checkout.

Couple of things to mention. I was here in November, and at least in the off season, the lobby is not open 24 hours. Good to know if you need to check in/out during the hours the lobby isn&apos

If I had to choose one word to describe the Elizabethan Inn, it would be "tired". The room was rather dreary, but it was clean. There was a nice TV, but not HD. The tub/shower valve was stuck on shower. The little coffee maker would not work when plugged into the (non-GFCI) outlet by the sink.

The 4-day music festival I was attending in Manteo was cancelled due to weather after 2 days, but the management "decided" not to refund unused nights if we checked out early.

I will not be staying there in the future, and you shouldn't either.

I was eager to stay here when I had a last minute potential lodging situation change for Memorial Day weekend because it's a staple in terms of historic looks and community support in Manteo and the Outer Banks, but after staying here, it's apparent that the Elizabethan Inn clearly hasn't been updated since the 1970's. As such, I don't think I ever want to stay there again. We realize we got a deal only paying about $160 a night, but they could really spend some money on some upgrades.

I marveled with starry eyes and excitement while the lady at the front desk told the
