I don't write many reviews, but for Jen's Guesthouse - I feel it overwhelmingly appropriate to do so. I recently had a luncheon at Jen's Guesthouse following my brother's funeral with having close to 100 family members and friends combined, and I have to say that the service was impeccable. Al and his staff were extremely attentive and kind; making sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

We booked a reservation for Christmas Eve and were shocked to see that none of the staff were wearing facemasks, despite a facemask mandate being in effect. When we mentioned this to the hostess we were told, "It is whatever the staff felt comfortable with". Apparently the management and staff are under the misguided assumption that their comfort overrules that of their customers. We left and enjoyed dinner at another area restaurant that was enforcing the mask mandate. We will never dine at Jen's Guesthouse again.

We had come for a funeral luncheon. My grandma pre-ordered the food she wanted and didn't get exactly what she asked for. 2 items were incorrect. The bread was delicious. The mashed potatoes were very good. The baked chicken could have been seasoned better. Overall, I'd probably go here for a regular meal and give that a chance.

The food was terrible! It was the worst meal that I've had in a very long time. When I called to confirm our reservation they should have told me that they had a party scheduled. It was loud enough that you couldn't even talk to the person next to you. The waitress was so busy but accommodating. I would not recommend this place for any body. It was overall not a good dining experience. This place has really gone down hill. I will not be returning!

Food was amazing. Service was horrible. I was attending a function there and the waitresses made you feel like we were bothering them when we asked for a drink. I even asked if I could get my own drinks from a bar (I wasn't being mean either I was being nice about it) she rolled her eyes and asked what I needed. Now, I realize nobody wants to work right now and they are miserable because the work load is falling on them but I'm not being rude to you so maybe don't be rude to me. I am still giving 4 stars because it is a nice place and the food is amazing

We arrived with a party of 5 for our reservation and were seated on time. 45 minutes later, literally, we were served our first drinks. We were not going to get caught in that storm again so we ordered ALL food items (starters and entrees) at that moment. A pre-dinner salad comes out, NO UTENSILS. We kindly ask our server for the utensils on multiple occasion before getting them ourselves along with salt and pepper. Then, our food comes and by food I mean ALL entrees, we were never served any of the starters we ordered. All entrees were mediocre and nothing to rave about. All in all, I cannot recommend

Amazing atmosphere and service! We will be back. This place has valet, outdoor patio dining as well. We were up the stairs on the patio and felt very comfortable. Enjoying the band singing in the background yet easy to hear each other. Must try mushroom Risotto.. i don't even eat mushrooms but i loved it!

Our family of 22 just celebrated at Jen's Guesthouse with their Mother's Day Brunch. The food was delicious, the scenery was beautiful, the staff was friendly. Yes, it was a bit packed in, but we were happy to get out and celebrate without having to do any of our own cleanup. We'd love to go back for Father's Day if something similar is offered, too.

My sweetheart treated me to dinner here on my birthday, it was a busy Saturday night and even the outdoor seating was crowded and I think the spacing for safety sake could have been better.
I saw some of the staff with masks on their necks.
She ordered a glass of wine and I asked for a beer
after a substantial wait our server came to our table holding the wine in her right hand and my beer in her (bare) left hand with her fingers firmly wrapped around the top of the open bottle!
I promptly asked her for a new bottle.
Our food was good but took a LONG time to arrive,
the server apologized. We sat

Was here on a Friday, fairly average live music kicked up about halfway through our meal. Overall, this place was good and had value, but not sure if we'd go back.
Atmosphere: 5 stars. Tough to screw up outdoor dining in this setting. Huge brick patio set on a hill in the woods with suttle but typical Christmas lights around the trees, etc.
Service: our waitress was really good but definitely busy. We had to ask a few questions she probably should've told us, but nothing to complain about. 5 stars.
Food: we got frog legs (says sautéed but was breaded and fried) and pork belly for

We haven't been here since the new ownership. It seems a little more casual than it used to be. It was outdoor dining bc of covid but there were tables inside being used too.
I have to say it felt like we were no longer in Chicagoland anymore. Not because of the nice scenery but bc everyone including some of the staff seemed to be pretty cavalier about wearing their masks. In the lobby people were coming in and out sans masks. One of the waitstaff was constantly pulling his mask off to talk. It was weird. And our tables were not spaced socially distant. I was back to back with another table

First, the patio is really nice and everyone was welcoming and polite. Secondly, our food was above average. I had the dill salmon, which was cooked perfectly. The risotto was also perfect. The dill sauce is somewhat picular. It was a clear gelatinous cause with lots of dill. I really like dill so the flavor was good but the composure was funky. The stuffed peppers, for our vegan guest, was a little misleading. The menu states two stuffed peppers, which was actually only one pepper, two halves. The flavor was nice but the volume of filling, particularly the rice content, was minimal and I would

We fell in love with this place over the summer when we discovered the gorgeous outdoor patio. Now returning in October, the interior is just as charming with beautiful touches of fall colors everywhere. My husband ordered the butt steak and I had the perch- both delicious. Entrees come with a choice of soup OR salad. I wanted the salad but had never tasted red pepper soup. To my surprise, our server brought me a full bowl along with my salad to try it out. Eat & be treated like royalty without a hefty price tag. Truly a gem.
