Merle Mullins Counseling
One of my greatest passions is to understand what makes people truly happy as individuals, and in relationships. I have worked as a marriage, family, and addiction counselor for over 30 years, including 15 in close collaboration with churches in the Harrisburg, Hershey, and York areas. After all this time, I'm more enthusiastic than ever about helping people overcome life's challenges.

I'm looking forward to speaking with you. I use brief, solution-focused therapy. After just 6-8 sessions, clients can often understand what's been happening in their relationships, and have a good sense of what to do about it.
Services
As a Marriage and Family Therapist working in Harrisburg for more than three decades, I have been able to help thousands of Harrisburg area families navigate challenging issues with grace and learn to succeed together by valuing the contributions of each individual. But we all need to learn to love others and to be loved in return.
Anxiety and depression aren't just words. They can impact every area of your life, and rob you of your ability to enjoy each day. Take the time to understand what's behind these feelings, and start enjoying your life again. If you or a loved one are suffering from frequent feelings of anxiety, nervousness, or panic attacks.
If you struggle to manage your emotions, or find yourself lashing out at loved ones, causing damage that can last a lifetime, you owe it to yourself and to them to take the time to address the anger, and be the best version of yourself. Anger management counseling is a process that helps the client to control their reactions to people and situations which cause anger.
Families seek counseling for many different reasons. Whatever your reasons for seeking counseling, I'm glad you're taking the time to put your family first. My job is to give you the tools and techniques to achieve a balanced and fulfilling life as a family. After several sessions, you will become well-versed at handling issues as they arise, and you'll have begun laying a strong foundation for the future of your family.
It can be difficult to acknowledge that an addiction is affecting your life. It can be even harder to accept the impact of an addiction on your marriage and your family. The good news is that there is a way out. Addiction counseling equips you with the tools to overcome addictive and compulsive behaviors, and to break the cycle in your family.

I struggle with many issues but I needed to have a Christian counselor. I requested this from my insurance and they recommended Merle. It has been a great blessing being counseled by him. He is a very wise man and has helped me grow and learn how my brain was working. He is great at listening and I would recommend his Godly counsel to all. Human science is a great part of therapy but my faith in Jesus is my core value and I needed that to be able to bring healing . Merle did just that used both in my counseling which is so important. I will continue to counsel with Merle. God puts people in our

This man was the absolute worst. We spent the whole session discussing his family and how his kids were drs. I spent more time looking at the clock trying to get out of there. I would never recommend him to anyone. Look elsewhere. I was telling him about my issues and he invited me to his party. Like what?
Just don’t waste your time

Merle has provided emotional support to my family over the last 16 yrs and continues to offer positive strategies to quiet my PTSD. I feel very fortunate to have him as a tool in my on going struggle with this very real disorder. Merle is genuine, supportive and a positive influence in my life.

I have seen a few professionals in this field prior to finding Mr. Mullins. He has been the most effective for me to talk to of any I have tried previously. He has been a great listener free from judgement allowing me to realize my struggles and helping me effectively address those issues. He has decades of experience which translate directly to the way he communicates.

Over the years, Merle Mullins has helped me through both difficult work situations and complex relational issues. He has been my support system, my ‘go to guy’ in difficult times, and has always gotten me through.
In addition, Merle has provided me with insight and perspective on earlier misfortunes and childhood abuse which has enabled me to work through and shed some of my emotional and spiritual baggage from the past.
Merle also stepped up to help a friend during a very troubling psychotic episode; he diffused and resolved the situation very effectively.

Terrible. Just absolutely terrible. He spent the majority of the session talking about his marriage, which had no bearing on MY marriage or the issues we faced as a couple.
It was a complete waste of time, money, and tears. I never went back and our marriage went from bad to worse. We're trying again, but with someone else.
Life is difficult enough. Therapy takes more than education and/or a license. It takes an innate sensitivity and understanding. Sorry, but this man is lacking in both.
