John Dietrich Spreckels (pictured to the left) did more than any other individual in San Diego's history to help the city prosper. His visionary leadership helped put San Diego on the map of national and international commerce. Convinced by local civic boosters that San Diego was ideally located for commerce, Spreckels at the age of 34, began investing in the community.
He bought the utility company, street car system, water company and established the San Diego & Arizona Eastern railroad, opening San Diego to the east. Spreckels dedicated much of his energy to building San Diego, but his love was Coronado Island. As a part of his many acquisitions, Spreckels invested $500,000 in the Coronado Beach Company which had developed The Hotel del Coronado, and by 1890 he held controlling interest in the hotel.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this lovely classic hotel directly across the street from the famous Hotel Coronado! The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well!
Our room was extremely quiet, & clean with HBO on demand and a great powerful shower and nice bath products to use as well. They provided a beautiful breakfast buffet with an excellent high quality coffee machine that allowed us to make espresso's!!!!
We look forward to staying here again next year!
Thank you!

We were so happy we chose to stay here! The mansion itself is just beautiful. Their pergolas are overflowing with beautiful pink flowers (I think bougainvillea) Our room was in one of the buildings next to the mansion and it was great. Our little patio was so cute. Clean with very comfortable beds. Great location within walking distance of everything. And everyone who works here is so nice! Only negatives would be small bathroom and an outdated pool area. But everything else was perfect. And this sounds silly, but we LOVED the bath towels. And the rate was so good compared to other properties.

Filthy disgusting rooms as you can see with the pictures attached vomit in front of my door from a wedding party you would think that they would take precautions during a pandemic and clean it up it was left there for more than 24 hours they refused to change room clogged shower dust dirt bodily fluids hair all over the room I checked out they did not take safety precautions for covid they obviously don't care about their patrons

I wish I could give more stars! Every time I call to make a reservation for family or friends, if I even get someone on the phone, they go through the rates and then tell me to just book online. I understand that I can do that, but if I go in person or on the phone can you not also make a reservation? It’s super weird. Also, my mother had an incident after an eye surgery and would know the day before she flew if they could actually come or not, with her doctor allowing her to travel or not. The gentleman at the front desk said we would be charged the first night if we didn’t give them 24 hours

Beautiful hotel with lots of history and an amazing staff, but...
I can't speak for all the rooms so maybe we were just unlucky. Not a huge deal, but based on other reviews we were a bit underwhelmed with the room. The carpets were stained and very dirty. The screen door on the balcony was bent and didn't shut all the way. The spectrum TV service kept freezing up when we tried to use it. Other than that the decor was decent. Sink and bathroom were clean. Sheets were clean and beds fairly comfortable.
Heads up on the Naval warfare training that goes on close by. We heard a lot of automatic gunfire

My parents had been annual visitors of the Inn for 25+ years - until now. 'What a disappointment' is how they now describe the Inn. It was a beautiful property. The previous owners took pride in their property - and it showed. Now, a conglomerate corporation owns it - and it shows. The corporation replaced the furniture, which suited the historical Inn, with modern furniture. The downstairs bathroom needs work as it now looks like a gas station bathroom. No more breakfast, beverages, cookies, and fruit included in the price. A vending machine is now in place. All the former friendly employees

An absolutely perfect experience at this hotel from our warm and friendly check-in to our amazing room, incredible location, super friendly staff, beautiful weather ... just can't say enough about this hotel! Jennifer at the front desk was so nice and just want to give her a shout out and say THANK YOU for making our stay at your hotel so wonderful. The rest of the staff; from the clerk to the maids to the handy man on the property were just all so amazing! LOVE this place and can't beat the location as everything you need is in walking distance.

My family and I chose this location at the last minute because of the great location, reviews and family friendly location of Coronado Island. Usually, we spend a little extra and try to stay at Hotel Del, this time, I was surprised to find this hidden gem and thrilled that it was slightly cheaper, and we got a little more space. We drove all day with little ones after work, so we didn't arrive until around 10 pm at night. The front desk agent was young and adorable and she helped us upgrade our room so we could have a private patio and space for our little ones to run around.

Pretty gross floor as mentioned by other reviewers. My husband found a pill under the sink, which is good he found it, rather than my crawling 8 month old. The rooms just need a deep clean. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean, but the bathtub drained incredibly slow. Furniture had stains. They do give beach towels, chairs and toys, which is nice. Decent location in town. We rented a
Two bed suite for two nights, costing over $1500. For that, I expected at least clean floor furniture that didn't obviously have stains over it.

Our favorite getaway location! Amazing friendly staff - especially GM Claudia and Raj at front desk make Glorietta Bay Inn always make us feel like we are visiting a friend's (fancy) home. Love that they have beach towels, blankets and umbrellas to use. The Mansion rooms are so charming and give you a real sense of living in a piece of Coronado history - and the modern rooms - esp the suites with kitchens are perfect for when we stay for longer so we can save some $. Why fight crowds at the Del for twice the cost. Feel like you're a local when you stay here.

Motel 6 quality accommodation for a 4 star price due to its location near the Hotel Del. Our room with 2 queen beds was $300 and not reasonably clean for the price. Buyer beware the management is milking the property and not enforcing reasonable hospitality standards for this price point and not reinvesting in the room , furniture, carpets, bathroom , hallways, etc. objectively dirty the cash cow will die a sorry death sooner or later

We had a great stay here! My friends and I stayed here 3 nights and it went smoothly. The room was clean and super cute and the windows were able to open and we got fresh air. My friend got stung by a stingray and as we made our way back to the hotel, the staff was readily available and helped us up the stairs, with first aid, extra towels, etc. only struggle is the AC was not working. We couldn’t figure out the system or remote at all but at least we had open windows! also this location is a 3 minute walk from the beach so nice. Wonderful restaurants like 5 minutes away. I really would recommend

The location of this Inn is great. We were really looking forward to staying here, the exterior has such old world charm. I requested 1st floor as my husband has problems with stairs and they did give us assistance to get our bags to the room. The room was slightly disappointing: It was old, but clean. The sheer curatins were torn and there was a spot on the carpet in front of the sink (I did let management know when we checked out). Our view was the cars parked on the street in front of our room, blocking any hope of seeing the boats in the bay. We came at a time that is not their busy

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! Front desk customer service was top tier! We arrived about 6 hours before check in. They held our bags for us so we could go to the beach. They called me to let us know the room was ready 1/2 hour early.
Great location across from Hotel Del. We got to use the beach at The Del but didn't have to pay their rates! This place is a great value and prime location. It's an old mansion, so grounds are beautiful.

This is really a pretty amazing location and building. If you are into Coronado history this is the place to stay, it was originally built by the owner of the Hotel Del Coronado and is now split up into rooms. Overall the staff is very good and they have quite a few amenities available. It is a very quiet and romantic spot for a weekend getaway or romantic week. Great work !!

Hotel was very well maintained and parking was a breeze. Raj at the front desk took very good care of us and was very helpful in selecting a room to stay in. Mansion room was beautiful and had a lovely view of the bay. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a romantic weekend getaway thanks to the amazing staff that works here.
We forgot our umbrella in the rain but the front desk provided! We had no idea where to eat but they had recommendations. Very comfortable stay here and would def stay again.

My wife and enjoyed our stay immensely....even in the midst of Covid Lockdowns. We stayed one night in a windy wet January, but we stayed in one of the mansion rooms which was really incredible. Claudia was amazing and did everything she could to make our little get away in the middle of a pandemic - fantastic. We got take out from Miguels and brought it back to our room and ate on the balcony. 2 minute walk to the beach. Bed and sheets were delightful too.
Looking forward to going back!

I don't leave many reviews...but this place deserves one from me. What a beautiful historic place to stay! Everyone was amazing and helpful. We arrived early for check in during the hot weeks of Oct 2020 and the general manager Claudia kept our celebration Champagne cool for us until we could check in later at the designated time....she directed us to local places to get some lunch and walk the beach...which was a 5 min walk away. We will stay here again in the future. Thank you Claudia!

Taking Covid adaptations into consideration, our room at Glorietta Bay was a bit "tired". The website photos are amazing, but once there, the room definitely didn't live up to those expectations. The carpeting is old and needs replaced. There were multiple dents in the walls, the shower fixture appeared to be replaced or repaired, leaving reside of its original location. The chair back had a bunch of different anti-scratch stickers on it in a tacky, sloppy, attempt to prevent it from scuffing the wall behind it. The tile in the shower needed better cleaning. Beds were comfy, and

Have you ever been to a place where the pictures looked better than the actual place, well this is one of those places?
The rooms looked nothing like the pictures you see online. It was small and very outdated. There were paint blemishes and holes in the walls. The AC was very noisy and you can hear car traffic from the street. It was a huge disappointment given the $269/night rate we paid to stay here. I expected more given the rich history of this place.
Upon checkout, I expressed my disappointment with the General Manager, Claudia and the best thing she can do was to give me her business

EDIT- I am all in for supporting local business....The pool is only open from 11-7 and while I was disappointed, I understand because there are rooms right outside the pool and no one wants to disturb these guests. That's why it was even more confusing when the gardening team stoked up their power hedgers and started pruning right outside my room at 8:00 on the dot. Also a quick note to whomever makes the decisions here- Please take a quick trip up to my room (789) and tell me that you feel comfortable calling this a bay view room. EDIT-This review looks a bit choppy between the first

This property is amazing. From the front desk staff (Tim) (David) to the Assistant GM (Rob V.) my wife and I were totally impressed with the service.
The room was clean and upon check-in they surprised us with a special gift, it was my wife's baby moon and they totally hooked her up!
The hotel is located close to the beach and there is ample parking. The rooms aren't the cheapest...but you get what you pay for right? Also, breakfast was included in our stay so we found value in that. All in all, the service staff made our stay memorable and we can't wait to come back!
