My husband and I stayed here for our 14th wedding anniversary. For the price, it is charming and pretty romantic if you book a room with a fireplace and balcony. We had a view of the city which was lovely. The staff was very polite and helpful!
I was disappointed that there was only one thin blanket on the bed so I was either freezing or hot since I had to turn the heater on. I hate those nasty comforters hotels usually put on the beds so I guess I shouldn't complain. The TV was awful and kept showing "no signal" for most of the channels. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
I'll definitely bring

We love our stay. You have to understand that it is a charming historical building, so room and bathroom sizes can be a little small. I think that adds to the atmosphere. The only thing I would suggest would usb charging stations in the rooms as they have few outlets. It was the cleanest room we stayed in on the east coast.

The hotel is historic site and is beautiful. However the service and upkeep of the rooms was not great.
Due to covid there were suspended services, like daily room cleaning, however we were not informed of this at the time of booking or at check-in.
The location is great to explore Gaslamp and good access to local transport.

Absolutely love this boutique hotel! We have been here a few times in the past 10 years. Fireplace, balcony, big comfy King bed and in the Gaslamp Quarter, who could ask for more? Small fridge with freezer, coffee maker no microwave. Always clean, fabulous customer service
Downfall, no parking on site but everything is within walking distance.

It was a mixed experience for us during our 4 night stay at Horton Grand over New Years.
We picked a room with a fireplace which was decent. The balcony looked out into the courtyard but since there were tables set out for other restaurant guests, we were not comfortable stepping out.
Since this is a heritage property, we chose to stay for the experience and location of Gaslamp Quarters. But the front desk folks were bit cold and didnt give us all the info. After two days we realised that there is no in-room cleaning due to Covid. We had to specifically ask for the trash to be cleaned and toiletries

My wife and I stayed here Dec 20-23, and we loved it. Walking into the hotel we saw the beautifully decorated Christmas tree, and made our way to the Front Desk where Ken checked us in quickly. It was obvious he took pride in his hotel, as well he should. All the staff were very helpful and courteous. We soaked up the atmosphere and charm of this wonderful historic hotel. Our balcony overlooked the courtyard with Christmas trees. The hotel is pet friendly, and our dog loved lying on the balcony.
We had a delicious breakfast twice in the Salt and Whiskey which is part of the Horton Grand. We

The lobby, bar and courtyard are beautiful and charming, reflecting turn of the century décor. It was a significant birthday and I reserved a Grand room with a fireplace as a splurge. I was so looking forward to it.
But it was a disappointment and not what I expected. First, there is an annex to the hotel. Our room was not in the main building, but in another building nextdoor. We got to it through an outside walkway between the two buildings. The only likeness to the video shown on their website is the layout. The room is large and one could probably do 3 cartwheels without knocking into

Stayed one night and the next time in the Gaslamp it will be more at the HGH. The remodel is complete and do like the way it turned out. Reuse of fixtures and furniture from the original Horton Grand and other local turn of the century hotels. Like staying in a museum with up to date comforts of the 21st century.
Relatively quite, in fact absolutely quite. No noise from the neighbors or the hall and our room was right above the Salt and Whiskey. No street/alley noise either.
We took the train in so did not deal with parking, which I understand is at a premium.
Spotless clean through out

Stayed here for 4 nights. The first night was Saturday night and I thought it would be loud due to the reviews I've read. It wasn't. We stayed on the 3rd floor and could see a bit of the street outside our window. Aside from a couple of loud cars and a screaming homeless person one morning, all was quiet enough for us. Service is great. They greeted us on the curb when our Uber dropped us off. The only thing is they don't do maid service every day even when we left the "Maid service please" on our door. That's okay because towels are easy to request and they are very

Great stay for a convention. I was in a king balcony room, and it was so nice to be able to drink my morning coffee outside. The hotel is 10 minute walk to the convention center and parks, and super convenient to restaurants and Ralph's.
The hotel has retained a lot of historic charm, including mixing in antique furniture. The staff was very helpful and attentive. I was here Monday to Thursday, and Wednesday night there was street noise, but the first 2 nights were peaceful. I assume weekends have more noise, but it was great for weekdays

I have been reading all the reviews going back seven years to see if anyone had a paranormal experience like me but I didn't see any. My son who lives there told us the hotel was supposedly haunted but I really have never seen or experienced any ghosts before so I just thought it was funny. There are many pros and cons to this hotel. The staff was very nice, they had valet parking. The rooms were really quiet, no bands playing. The bed were comfortable. It was the best priced in town since we were going to petco park. They are pet friendly and only charge 25 per night!. The rooms were pretty

First off the room was clean and the place has a nice vintage quaintness. The location is great and in the think of things. That said expect noise of revelers enjoying the area. My review has nothing to do with the neighborhood noise because when you stay in the thick of things you have to expect some of that. My review centers on the noise created by the staff and the poor door on the balcony.
I stayed in room 214 with a fireplace and balcony opening into an interior courtyard. Hopefully I can load pictures to show this but the door lacked weather stripping and offered nearly an inch opening

The hotel is certainly historic and very cute but it’s some what rundown. We stayed in a suite with a hide-a-bed. The king bed had acceptable comfort but they DO NOT have high end bedding or mattresses. Be forewarned. The hide-a-bed was a nightmare. The furniture is mixed. Some good quality reproductions and some that are scratched up, older, and low quality. The room was very clean but the carpets were old and had that I-better-not-walk-barefoot feeling. Great fireplaces and the location is super walkable! Very charming. If you’re sensitive, have a sleeping disorder or a light sleeper, and

This is a beautiful Hotel .. The ambience of keeping with the original decor Wonderful. Loved our balcony room, and sitting outside to the wee hours of the morning. Air conditioning is extremely quiet, and the romance of having a fireplace in our room as well. Must say also staff was Awesome and very helpful. Tim was great in getting me the great smoke free balcony room!! I'll be back for sure.

We stayed at this place for one night over Memorial Day and it was a generally good experience. The decor of the outside and bar area was really lovely. The main staircase and the older style decor stand out in the Gaslamp district of San Diego. The location is a great because there are so many great restaurants in the area.
The rooms are a bit small though. We got a balcony room and it had a nice fireplace. But the clicker on it was a bit loud. The room also had a small balcony, a nice touch. But it has no privacy and is shared with the room next door (there is a see through iron barrier). Our

If you want to stay in the Gaslamp District this is where to stay. Next time we will definitely give this place our business. Front desk was super helpful and friendly. Our room was so rustic, clean, and we loved the fireplace with the timer! We had a little patio so we could go outside. We had DirectTV so we had tons of channels. The bathroom was small but clean and we loved the crown molding/decor/furniture in the room. The hallways were beautiful and the rustic staircase, wow. We wished the downstairs bar was open it was gorgeous, had a piano etc. There is an atrium downstairs so you
