5 star review for a less than 5 star, but acceptable, lodging. It's not a high end hotel, but it has the basics and is acceptable to me and mine.. I have been to the whaler many times over the years and this experience has been about the same. The rooms are slightly dated (it is impossible to keep wood grain shiny at the beach), but generally clean. Every single staff member (seriously: every single one from front desk to maintenance man that came to fix our TV that wouldn't put out volume - fixed quickly and politely) was polite and seemed genuinely appreciative of us as customers. As it should

The location is great! Your just steps from Historic Nye Beach, and a few blocks from some really cute shops, which are just down the beach.
It does appear that they have some long term guests, and one of them has some children. The kids were running up and down the corridor screaming and laughing at 8:30am. Then, housekeeping called at 9am, even though I asked the front desk person to NOT have them call, as it was our first night there and we wouldn't need anything the following day.
It's a great place for people who are early risers, or who are in Newport to go to all the things. If you are

Accommodations not fitted to 90 year old folk. The bed was too tall, toilet too low, no hand rails could not use shower as to have to step into tub and unable to do that. Need some kind of lounge chair so can get feet up without using chairs. The room was very clean and the personnel were very helpful and pleasant. Good location, good view.

These people are so awesome. I want to give big kudos to Judy from the hallmark resorts.
and also to
Miranda and Soon at
the whaler.
my husband and I were in a very bad bind after the experience we had with a different hotel.
and these guys went over and beyond to help us out with getting a room to make our vacation memorable.
They are the greatest people and very nice and caring.
The room was great it was very clean and it felt like home.
The pool and spa was clean and very nice also.
I would highly recommend staying at the Whaler!!!!
We will be coming back it's now our favorite place
