Services
We're happy to have the opportunity to let you in on some of the secrets of the hotel. Why it is loved by many, but not all. When you walk up our garden path to the front door the old building will give you a big hug or spit you out, depending on what really matters to you! Hopefully it will be the former!
The loft area above has a large table to do puzzles or to write. There are bean bag chairs and some comfortable reading chairs to read in while you look out at the beach and the Nye Beach area. Lots and lots of old books - which are not shelved properly, the more fun to browse through - lie on the shelves, so take your pick.
The Sylvia Beach Hotel commands a particularly beautiful coastal panorama, which includes the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. The majority of our author-themed rooms look out on this view to the north over Nye Beach and Yaquina Head; these mid-priced rooms are affectionately called "Best Sellers." There are only three rooms directly over the surf: they are the "Classics, " with their own fireplaces and decks.
The Tables of Content Restaurant is located at 267 NW Cliff Street inside the historic Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport, an oceanfront setting overlooking Nye Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Seasonal, full-course dinners served nightly in the French table d'hote ("host's table") tradition feature locally sourced ingredients and a choice of entres for the fixed price of $38.
Call Sylvia Beach Hotel any time! 541.265.5428 or toll-free at 888.795.8422. Someone is at the front desk 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. They will be glad to answer questions, make a reservation, or create a gift certificate to fit your needs. We don't use voicemail, so if you get a busy signal, please try again.

Beautiful surroundings, not ADA friendly upon arrival, no option given for a different route other than stairs.
Food was excellent although main course portions were not equal throughout the table. Could have used a description of the dishes as we were not guests of the hotel and not be chastised for not eating enough salad.

Second time I have eaten here and quite excellent although I preferred pre-covid setup better as you were seated with other guests and could meet new people. Spectacular food. Optional wine pairing was perfect. Definitely recommend having a lite lunch or skipping lunch before doing dinner here. This place could easily compete with restaurants in Portland.

Consistently delicious meals featuring fresh locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, served by friendly staff.
When I’ve dined here “in the before times” the seating was always 8-to-a-table, with an assortment of other guests, and we were encouraged to play a game known by the descriptive name “two truths and a lie” — each player makes three statements, and the other players try to guess which one is false.
During the pandemic lockdown, they’ve changed things up a bit: limiting seating to one party per table, and requiring masks on staff and, when not eating, guests.

We’ve been coming here for over thirty years, and the quality remains. In fact, they’ve been using locally sourced before that was a trend. They serve a four course meal, with a choice of four entrees. Usually lamb/beef/pork, or chicken/duck or seafood or vegetarian. The salads are always amazing. Dessert recently was a chocolate hazelnut torte with caramel sauce. Reasonably priced Oregon and International wines are available. All by the glass, which is nice, with chef recommended pairings. They offer a flight to align with courses, as well.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this little hidden secret of a restaurant! We ate here for Valentine's Day last year and are planning on returning in a week. The food served is to die for, the atmosphere is the most romantic in all of Newport, and the service is just wonderful. Can't recommend it highly enough!
